Whom

I tilted my head, why would this border collie be out here alone? Wouldn't he be with a pack, or was he a loner? I know what it feels like to be a loner.. I thought.

"Actually, I'm a loner looking for some adventure... Or- Erm- Revenge." The border collie said, in a happy bark.

Wait... Did I say that aloud? Or... Could he mind read?

"Actually, you said that aloud, along with that. But I can read minds.. Sometimes." The canine said, laughing doggishly. The dog looked at me for my response. Oh yeah.. My response!

"H-Heh, sorry about that.. I'm Shadow, by the way. I can talk to animals if you were wondering, and I'm not a pony." I said quietly, hoping not to get questioned. I wolfishly smiled, showing my fangs, nervously.

"Oh. That's cool. Oh yeah! I'm Echo, by the way. And I'm glad you don't associate with those humans- Wait, do you associate with humans?" He asked, seriously. Had something happened with him that had to do with the humans? I wondered. He said he wanted to get revenge, so that might be it.

"N-No w-way! I hate humans. Those humans, ugh, they have done so much to these poor creatures in the Everfree. My mission is to actually free these creatures that were once forgotten, and to protect this land if the humans come back. And if the humans come back, I will make sure no dog- no creatures, will get hurt." I said, sternly. I was keeping my promise to the creatures, even if it meant me risking my life- No- Laying down my life for these creatures, I would do it.

Echo sighed in relief. "Okay, good. I can't wait to get revenge on those humans, they really deserve it, for killing-" Echo cut himself off, and his eyes went wide-eyed. He was revealing something he didn't want to remember.
