Don't Forget

Winter turned back around to face me. She tilted her head. "Hm?" She asked.

Wow, there must be something in common with birds whom tilt their head..

"Visit us, okay?" I say quietly, but smiling hopefully, not showing my fangs. I looked at Winter, and she warmly smiled.

"Of course I will visit! You AND 'Athens." Winter said, flying to the door.

"And one more thing.." I say shyly.

"Yes?"

"Don't forget me... 'Kay?" I say, warmly looking into her sharp eyes. I would miss this owl, yes.. All the memories we had shared in these few days, all of the times we spent feeling we had known each other for years like old friends, just like an otter with their rock, the wolf with their pack, or a lion with his pride. I was sad she had to leave so soon, we could've made more adventures.. But I was happy to see her happy, finding a home, being with her kind, and being with friends.. She would be finally free.

A tear finally trickled from that owls eye. The bridges had been broken, the door was unlocked, and the wall was lifted. She finally let all of the memories go.. Most of them, at least. She looked back at me, she still had the warmest smile.

" 'Kay.." Winter said, her voice crackling. And, with that, she tried to open the door, but realized she had wings.

"Oh." I laughed quietly. "Let me help you with that." I said, trotting over to her. I arrived to where Winter and the door was, also known as the barrier to the outside world. I placed my hoof on the doorknob, and turned it. There was a small click, indicating that it was unlocked.

Winter waddled halfway through the doorway, and turned to face me once more. "I guess this is goodbye, Shadow.." She said, looking up at me.

"I guess so, but I'm happy for you. This departure was part of your journey, Winter. And with that, farewell, Winter." I said to her sternly, and quietly. It had been hard saying goodbye, like a dog with their master, or a departure to the afterlife even.. It was necessary.

"Goodbye, Shadow." Winter said, she then walked out of the door, onto the path way, bent forward and got her wings ready.

In an instance, with such emotion, she swiftly departed, leaving the ground behind. Her wings soared to the left, flapping every now and then, and gliding with might itself. She was searching for a tree, indeed. This was her journey now, but not my last adventure.
