A Quest For Life

Your pov,

Oh,no,no.
Jack leaned on the door, wating for my answer. He didn't have his helmet on,so,I could take a good look at his face.

Omg,he is still handsome in the game as well.I tried to look anywhere but, him.
His avatar looked identical to his real self.
Urgh!I have been, looking at him for way too long.

But,he was blocking the way.
I could feel my face burning up and I was sure that it's affecting my avatar in the game as well.
Ok,(Y/n).Calm down,you got this.

"H-hi,"I said and he smiled at me warmly.
Gosh,I am about to melt.
"You look like you could use some help,"Jack said as he continued to block my way.

"I don't think so,"I said, trying my best not to sutter.
"Do I know you?"Jack asked as he suddenly leaned in,making me blush harder as he watched me looking my face so carefully that I started to back away.

Oh,no.He will recognize me.
But,everytime I take a step behind,he takes one more step closer.

"Haha,I dunnk know,"I said as I back away but, suddenly,I stumbled on my own feet and almsot fell backwards but,Jack caught me from my waist and spinned me around, holding me in his arm which caused me to start blushing a mess.

He smirked.
"Really?We'll see about that,snowflake,"he said.
I almost got lost in his ocean blue eyes.

I looked away and quickly pulled away, blushing as I exited the inn.
After that encounter,I was sure that he is gonna remember me for sure.

But,sadly,Jack won't give up.
He started following me all the way to the main square of the village, making me nervous.

He was walking a few steps from behind me and whenever I'd turn around,he was pretending to be looking at the goods.

As long as we are in the village,I don't mind him following, but,I don't know what he might try to pull when we are in a PvP zone.

I am really stuck right now.
Maybe I could log out and wait until he leaves me alone?
I secretly looked towards him while he wasn't looking.

Maybe,I was wrong?Maybe he wasn't following me?

He went to the blacksmith's for his helmet.
Whew,I guess,he is minding his own bussiness.
The quests I picked from the notice board in the inn were now in my quest log.
I opened it and read it again.

Wild boars are coming one way or another, but, who to help first?
I decided to do the quest that says urgent first.

They say it's urgent.
Without a second thought,I left the no PvP zone without looking back.

It's time for my adventure to begin.
I hope luck will by my ally.

A notification was blinking on my vizor,
saying that I left a no PvP zone.
I checked the quest as active and could see the Mini Map.

My position was pinpointed there in reference to the target.According to the map,I shouldn't go north further than a hundred yards.

I will add the mana and health regeneration potions to shortcuts as well as the
"Fire Arrow" spell.
I looked at the beautiful surrounding and took a deep breathe in.

The loneliness you can feel while explorjng the wilderness in a virtual world and the excitement when you meet your enemy are exactly what defines  this types of games.

What an unforgettable experience!
I stopped walking,looking around.
There was nobody around.

However, some ten yards along the road,I could see one of who knows why many wild boars in the surroundings.

"Well, get ready!"I said as I estimated the distance and casted the "Fire Arrow" spell.

A sharp sound broke the silence.
I hit it!
Congratulations, player (player name)You've successfully casted your first spell. You've acquired five experience points

Wait...only five points?!Oh,no.
I have to stay here all night!
I only need 995 points to get to the next level.

The spell I used was now unavaible.
As always,in games like this, some times have to pass after the use of a spell before you can use it again and the cool down period goes down as the players make progress.

                       Warning!
You've spent more than three hours in the virtual world! It's advisible that you make a break.

Wait,what?!
It has been that long already?
I spent the last coupel of hours killing wild boars, rabbits and squirrels.

I tried my best, doing anything that would get me experience points.
I reached level 3 but, boars were onky getting me one experience now.
It was useless.

I needed to get to level 5!
I went back to the village, exhausted and turned in the quests and got some money for them.

I spent part of the money to pay the rent.
I left my avatar in a safe place and logged out.

At 6:00 P.M,

I stretched myself,sighing in relief.
"Gosh,I am so exhausted,"I said to myself.
I reached to level 3 in a few hours but,it is still not enough.

The quests which gives me real money will be avaible only on level 5.
I shook my head cheering mysely up.
"No,no,I still have a few more hours left before the special quests become avaible.

I got out of my room checking whether my mom was home or not.It was quiet just as usual.
I made a sandwich and went back to my rom.A notifucation on the screen was showing a new email message.

It was from Anna.

It was a sketch of the map with the locations of the weapon I need.
Hmm...it seems doable.

The weapon is guarded by a level seven bear! That's why it is important to sneak up on it and snatch the weapon!

"I could do that if I climb a near by hill and get down behind the bear's back.Take the weapon and use it to kill the bear,"I said to myself, planning how to get the weapon.

If I succeed,I would be near level 5 and be
well-equipped for the upcoming quests.
Just a little risk.You got this,(Y/n).

I memorized Anna's sketch and immediately logged back into the game.
I found myself in the exact same spot in the inn where I logged out last time.

The inn was almost empty.
But,I saw the man at the counter so,I greeted him.
"Goodafternoon,innkeeper"

He looked up and smiled.
"Oh,it's you?Did you have  agood rest in my inn?"he asked.
"Thanks,I did,"I said as I walked up to him.
"Would you like anything to drink?"he asked.

"Oh,I don't have much time but,I could use some food,"I said, knowing that the food in the game served to regenerate haalth and mana.

Considering the fact that,I am gonna take  a long walk,I had to take it with me.
"I can offer you bread which generates
10 health points, roast chicken which generates 50 health points and...fruit with a bottle of our fines wine that generates both health and mana.Would you like to buy anything?"the man offered.

Fruit and wine sounds good to me.
"Fruit and wine,please,"I said.
"Clever choice,"the man said as I paid for the them and put them in my inventory,
checking the spells I can use once again.

You can bever be too ready.
I got two new spells when I reached level 3.

The first one is "Summon a Monster" which allows you to summon a monster to your side to fight for you once a day.

The other one is "Fireball".It is stronger than "Fire Arrow"but,it can't be used everywhere.

All set.I hope the weapon will be at the spot where Anna described.
...
...
...

It took me a good half an hour to find the shortcut. It turned out,I only needed to climb up the hill which was not too far away from the location where I was hiding right now.

I moved, trying not to make any noise.
I was even holding my dear breathe!
Soon, the spot came right into my eyes.

"That's the spot!"I said to myself in a low voice.

I lied down on the ground, carefully observing the surroundings.I noticed the bushes near by stsrted moving.

Now,I could take a good look at the bear.
It was twice my size, but, moving slower.
That is my cue.I have to be fast.

I will wait until it turn its back to me,then,I willgo down and find the weapon it is guarding.
Since the bear is alive,I am sure that the weapon has to be still here.

I was ready.
Steadily,I got down the slope and quickly moved to the spot where the bear had been a whlie ago.
Just like Anna said a bow, arrows and somebody's bag were lying on the ground partly covered by leaves.

"That's it.I found them!"I mumbled quietly.

Just then,a loud growl echoed through the woods.Oh,no.It seems that the bear picked up my scent!I better get ready for a fight!

I quickly grabbed the bow and one of the arrows from the quiver.I am ready.Once I see the bear,I will shoot it with an arrow.
Luckily,I knew how to use them.

My arms were tired but,I didn't back down.
I fully stretched the bow and waited patiently, listening carefully at the same time,so I would hear it coming.

Then, the bushes started moving and I knew the bear was close. It came out of the bushes and growled loudly one more time.

I fired the arrow but,I missed it.
Dang, guess I need to practise more.I still can try one more attempt.

I took a deep breathe and fired another arrow and boom!
I hit it!
The beast is now moving slowly,so,I can finish it off with spells.

I summoned a Monster nd a level three wolf appeared in front of me.
Awesome!
It jumped at the bear right away which enables me to cast "Fireball".

I casted the spell and the bear was dead but, now, everything around me is starting to burn!
Oh,no,no,no!
How can I escape?!

I have no options left but,to go back the way I have come.

The slope was steep and with a now extra burden on my back,I will never make it.

I quickly grabbed the roots that were sticking out from the ground and started climbing little by little.
I looked back at the spot where I stood a while ago and saw that it has already caught on fire.

Yikes!I must not slip! There is no way I am gonna die here. Not in a million years!
I finally got a weapon and there is no way I am gonna die!

If only I had leather gloves, the climbing wouldn't be do painful! But the pain was too muvh, one reckless movement and I am a dead meat.

No,no,no,no!
I slipped and I was now holding onto the roots with one hand only.
The fire was so close that I started losing health points.I have to make it!
I can't give up now!

I could feel the heat on my skin and I knew I can no longer stay here. That's why I gathered all my strength and caught the roots above my head with my bloody hands.

Ahh!Come on,just a little more!
My health point was at the minimum and my movememt was slowler because of the smoke I was breathing in.

It is incredible just thinking abot how the game experience was so realistically transferred to our senses.

I almost can't breathe!
I am starting to lose my strength and I couldn't tell where I am anymore.

Finally, someone grabbed my hand and pulled me up.Because of the smoke,it was impossible to see who it was.
But,whoever it was, they had to be very strong.

Help came just in time.
I rolled over to the other side and started coughing.
"So,we meet again,"a familiar feminine voice said and I looked at the person to see that it was that girl from before.

"Y-you?How did you do that?!"I asked,shocked.
"You're weak and as light as a feather.I was thinking about stealing your bag and pushing you down into the fire,"the girl said.

"Well, then,I am graeful for changing your mind,"I said.
"Your welcome but,I'd like to be rewarded for my efforts. What do you have in your bag?"the girl said.

"I have food which I could really use one now,"I said.
"Whether you take your food or not,it's for me to decide, let's see..."the girl saud as she was about to take my bag but, then, another person showed up.

"Leave that,Emma!"

We both turned to see a helmet guy who looked familiar.
"I will give you a head start and count to five before I go after you"
I noticed the girl who is called Emma pouted and that...the helmeted guy was Jack and started blushing.

I wonder how long has he been behind us or how much he had seen.
Emma was the girl who got away because of her speed and invisibility, but, that time she was caught, unprepared.

Then,Jack narrowed his eyes and started  counting.
"Five..."
"Well,well,look who it is,"Emma said,smiling.

"Four..."
"I will leave but,I will take what it belongs to me,"Emma said.

"Three..."
Emma took the bag I found next to the weapon and emptied it on the grass.
That was the first time I saw what was in it.

Emma wasn't interested in anything but, gold coins. She picked the bag of gold coins up.
"This is mine.I earned it!"

"Two..."Jack said,warningly.
"You'll never catch me!"Emma yelled,glaring at him.

"One!You're dead!""Jack yelled.
He only needed one step to reach Emma and grab her arm.
He swung his sword but,Emma was already gone.

"Huh?Where did she go?"I said out loud,curious.
Jack snickered and keot his sword back.
"So typical of her.She used a teleportation spell,she could've gone anywhere,"he said.

I got up and went for the bag that Emma emptied had to the ground.Every step I took was really difficult for me to move.

What happened after that was a mystery to me.But,before I black out I heard the warning sound.

          You've been logged out,Error.
