Clash and Collaboration
The room crackled with tension as Aurora and Logon exchanged heated glances, their animosity palpable to everyone present. Despite the hostility between them, Enzo attempted to steer the conversation back to the task at hand, his voice betraying a hint of nervousness and concern.
"Sweet. Well, guys, any updates or critical information we need to address?" Enzo's question hung in the air, a desperate attempt to diffuse the tension and refocus their energies on the pressing matters at hand.
Aurora's jaw tightened, her frustration evident as she spoke with barely contained disdain. "You bastard," she spat out, her words dripping with venom, directed squarely at Logon.
Logon's lips curled into a sneer as he fired back with equal venom, "You bitch," his voice laced with contempt as he returned Aurora's glare, neither of them willing to back down.
The room fell into a shocked silence as Aurora and Logon's heated exchange escalated, surprising even Edgar, who had never seen Logon lose his composure before. Sensing the urgency, Edgar demanded their attention.
"You two better speak up," Edgar's voice cut through the tension, his gaze unwavering despite their hostile stares.
Aurora's frustration boiled over, prompting a sharp retort. "Why don't you ask this little idiot?" she snapped, her words dripping with disdain.
Logon's response was equally cutting. "Yeah, sure. You short-tempered, self-centered, narcissistic bitch," he shot back, his tone filled with contempt.
Edgar's stern cough broke the tension in the room, his eyes demanding answers in a formidable manner. Enzo and Ralph stood there stunned, unable to comprehend the sight before them as Logon spoke up.
"Well, you guys remember consignment 502, Erwin?" Logon's frustration was evident in his voice as he addressed them.
"Yeah," replied Edgar, his tone cautious.
"Wasn't it the one that sent you to trauma therapy?" Ralph interjected, recalling the incident with a sense of unease.
"It wasn't the consignment that sent me there," Logon's voice cut through the silence, his gaze locking onto Aurora with a mixture of accusation and resentment.
Aurora scoffed at his remark, her tone tinged with disbelief. "Oh, please. I did the most rational thing there," she retorted, her voice laced with defiance. "It was much better than simply dying, which happened to be your plan."
Logon bristled at Aurora's words, his jaw clenched with barely contained anger. "My plan was to stay safe while these guys come after us," he shot back, his tone defensive.
Aurora's voice rose defensively as she countered, "You had no guarantee they were coming, and I wasn't about to risk my life over a little paid mission from a random group."
"Goddamn it!" Logon's frustration boiled over as he shouted back, his anger flaring. "You're still the same."
Aurora rolled her eyes in response, her tone dripping with sarcasm. "I see no changes either," she shot back, her words laced with contempt.
As they were about to continue their exchange of insults and curses, Edgar intervened, his voice cutting through the tension like a knife.
"That's enough," Edgar's firm voice cut through the tension, effectively silencing both Aurora and Logon. They turned to him, their expressions a mix of surprise and apprehension as they took in his stern demeanor, so different from the welcoming one he had worn when greeting Aurora earlier.
Edgar took a deep breath, his features softening slightly as he addressed them. "I understand that you both had different perspectives regarding the consignment. However, let's not forget that it was a success you both achieved together."
He paused, his gaze shifting to Logon. "And if I remember correctly, Logon, you admitted that your partner had amazing skills."
Logon nodded, his earlier anger giving way to a begrudging acknowledgment. "Yes, that's true," he admitted, his tone more subdued now.
Aurora's winning smile faltered as Edgar's sternness redirected her attention, his words casting a shadow over her momentary triumph. She shifted uncomfortably under his gaze, knowing that his assessment of Logon's skills was undeniably accurate.
"And you, Ms. Merwell, must agree that this man here is one of the best," Edgar continued, his voice firm yet acknowledging. "His skills are perfect, and we all can vouch for it."
Aurora looked away, her annoyance and defeat palpable. She couldn't deny the truth in Edgar's words, even if she resented the reminder of Logon's capabilities.
Edgar's tone softened, his previous sternness melting away as he addressed both of them. "Now that we are on the same page," he said, turning to Logon, "what do you say?"
Logon's defeated expression betrayed a hint of rationality as he responded, "Well, the workload's a bit too much, and I do need a partner, not an assistant. I've got many of those, and they have no idea where they stand. I guess I can deal with her impulsiveness."
Despite his concession, Logon's acceptance of Aurora as his partner was reluctant, his words hinting at the challenges they would face working together. As the weight of their agreement settled over the room, Aurora couldn't help but feel a sense of trepidation about what lay ahead in their partnership.
"See, it wasn't that hard!" Ralph exclaimed, his enthusiasm contagious. "Now Logon has a partner, relieving him from his solitary working confinement, and Aurora here has entered the upgraded leagues, just as she wanted to. It's a win-win, I say!"
His infectious energy lifted the spirits of those present, and Enzo couldn't help but smile at his friend's optimism. "How about we all celebrate?" he suggested, his tone filled with genuine warmth as he looked around at the group.
Aurora's lips curved into a hesitant smile, a flicker of relief crossing her features as she realized that perhaps this partnership wouldn't be as daunting as she had initially feared. Logon, too, seemed to relax slightly, the weight of his previous reservations momentarily lifted by Ralph's cheerful demeanor.
Edgar nodded in agreement, a small smile tugging at the corners of his lips. "I think that's a splendid idea," he replied, his tone softer now, the tension of the earlier confrontation dissipating.
Enzo's offer to treat the group elicited joyful expressions from all four of them, their anticipation evident as they awaited his choice of destination.
"If it's the boss offering, how about someplace expensive?" Aurora suggested, a mischievous glint in her eye as she glanced at Enzo, who returned her look with a smile.
"Sure, your highness, have your pick," Enzo replied playfully, his use of the adverb causing a blush to creep onto Aurora's cheeks. She looked away, smiling shyly at the unexpected compliment.
Feeling emboldened by Enzo's response, Aurora considered their options, her mind racing with possibilities. After a moment of deliberation, she turned back to him, her smile widening as she made her choice.
"Well, I have heard of Atlantis," Aurora remarked, her curiosity piqued by the suggestion.
"That's for drinks, not food," Enzo clarified, a hint of amusement in his voice.
"Scared much?" Aurora teased, a playful glint in her eyes.
Enzo chuckled, shaking his head. "Not scared, just practical."
"Atlantis is a must-go place for newbies in town," Ralph chimed in, adding his endorsement. "We could actually eat some snacks near the café and then go there. It's a heavenly club, my favorite, I tell you."
Aurora's interest was piqued by Ralph's enthusiasm. "Sounds like a plan," she agreed, her excitement growing at the prospect of experiencing the renowned club firsthand.
Enzo glanced at Aurora, a smile playing on his lips. "Atlantis it is, then," he declared, his tone laced with anticipation.
"So, we meet at 6 at Café Orchid in front of Atlantis," Ralph announced, setting the plan in motion. "You bitches better look good, or I'm refusing any links between us," he continued, half-jokingly.
"Oh, please. I already refuse any links with you," Edgar retorted with a smirk, teasing Ralph in return. "You act like a horny dog at that place. We'll all be better off away from you," he added, earning a chuckle from Logon.
"Life is all about fun," Ralph replied, his tone unapologetic. "And I intend to make the most of it at Atlantis."
"Miss Merwell," Logon addressed Aurora, his tone businesslike. "You start from this Monday, aka day after tomorrow. So be on time. You'll find your pass and all necessary equipment that day at the reception."
He nodded in acknowledgment before turning to leave, accompanied by Ralph and Edgar, who each offered their own forms of farewell to Aurora as they exited the room, leaving her alone with Enzo.
Aurora and Enzo stood there in a momentary silence, their gazes locked as if caught in a trance. Sensing the need to break the connection, Aurora gave Enzo a small business-like bow before turning to leave. However, before she could take a step, she felt a force pulling her back, her movement abruptly halted.
Turning around, Aurora found herself face-to-face with Enzo, his arm wrapped around her waist, holding her close. She looked up at him, meeting his intense gaze, a myriad of emotions swirling in his eyes as he stared back at her.
"Roe?" Enzo's voice broke the silence, drawing Aurora's attention. "I knew you had skills, but that sure was unexpected," he continued, his tone a mixture of surprise and admiration.
Aurora listened intently as Enzo spoke, his words sinking in. "Logon was willing to have you trained as his partner the moment it took him over 5 hours to search for you, but now you are already his partner with no need for training," he remarked, a hint of incredulity in his voice. "I must say, I am impressed."
A sheepish smile tugged at Aurora's lips at Enzo's words, a sense of pride swelling within her. Despite her initial reservations and uncertainties, she couldn't help but feel a surge of satisfaction at Enzo's acknowledgment of her abilities.
For the moment, Aurora forgot all about her prior engagement with M and her mission to evaluate Enzo Santoro. With a proud voice, she replied, "I am impressive, and I know that well. But now I shall take my leave. I do not like to stay at the workplace for more time than needed. Just not my thing."
Enzo, ever the gentleman, offered, "I can drop you if you want."
Aurora raised an eyebrow, amused by his offer. "Aren't you the boss here?" she questioned. "I'm sure bosses do happen to have stuff to do. Important stuff."
Enzo chuckled at her response. "Touché," he conceded, a playful glint in his eyes. "But I can make an exception for such a distinguished guest as yourself."
"Well, I have been enough of an exception, I must say," Aurora remarked, her tone playful and flirty. "And I do happen to have the need to shop for a sexy outfit for tonight."
Her suggestive remark hung in the air, teasing and inviting. Enzo's lips curved into a knowing smile as he caught her drift.
"In that case, consider me your personal chauffeur," he replied, his tone equally playful. "Let's make sure you find the perfect ensemble for our evening at Atlantis."
"I am capable of doing that myself," Aurora responded confidently, her tone firm yet flirtatious. "I'll hold your offer for some time later. But tonight, you must wait until 6."
Enzo nodded, a hint of disappointment fleeting across his features before he masked it with a smile. "Fair enough," he conceded, his tone gracious. "I'll see you at 6 then."
Aurora turned around and left, her movements purposeful and confident. She couldn't help but feel the weight of Enzo's gaze trailing her as she walked away, a sensation that sent a shiver down her spine. Despite her attempt to remain composed, she couldn't deny the thrill of anticipation building within her for their rendezvous at 6.
Ghosty suggests Enzo deserves a sexy outfit shopping with Aurora cause he is a cute crime lord.... couldn't agree more
btw people enjoy the fluff as it lasts , it won't be rosy forever (sorry, not sorry ;) )
