"So who's next?"

Amanda Waller flips to the next page of the file, revealing the face of a young, innocuous South Asian woman. The photo looks normal enough, and the woman harmless. But a closer glance revealed that was not the case. Even in the mugshot, her eyes glow with a dark purple tint, holding a darkness that was familiar to anyone who knew the shithole that was Gotham. 

"Sophie Gupta," Waller answers, cutting into her steak. "Or known to Gotham, as a Shadow, a meta with the ability to move things with her mind."

"Another meta? Jeez, how many of them are out there?" Olsen looks at Waller, almost like she's grown another head. 

"Far too many," Waller answers, a tinge of annoyance in her response. She cuts into her steak, as she continues. "She was relatively new to the scene and target Gotham's elite, stealing anything expensive she could find and handed her loot to the residents of Gotham's poor."

Dexter Tolliver waits for Waller to finish, before he speaks. "Sounds like someone wanted to be Robin Hood."

"This Robin Hood failed spectacularly after breaking into Wayne Enterprises' R&D department," Waller shrugs. "It was a struggle to catch her, considering she can throw things just by thinking, but the Bat got her in the end."

"With El Diablo, Shadow is another dangerous one on the list," She continues. "But considering the level of her crimes, her sentence and the information in this file, it will be easy to manipulate Shadow into becoming an asset for us. There is goodness in her," Waller speaks the word as though it causes her physical pain. "And exploiting that goodness will be our key."

"You want to make a dangerous metahuman into an ARGUS agent? I don't know what the hell you're thinking with this one, Amanda," The Pentagon officer frowns, shaking his head. 

"If push comes to shove, she will help us keep Task Force X in check," Waller states firmly, her tone reeking of finality. "Someone likes her wants out of jail, and she is willing to obtain it for any price. Shadow will not want to be in the shadows in the anymore."

Almost unintentionally, no one can ever really tell with her, Waller smiles at her pun. The two men at the table feel identical shivers go down their spine. The smile stays on Waller's face as she moves to her next file. 

Task Force X is finally coming along.

ACTIVITY REPORT: Sophie Gupta, known on the street as 'Shadow', is one of the deadliest thieves and hackers in the US. Primarily operating out of Gotham City, Shadow started with petty thievery and larceny, before moving onto grand larceny and high-level hacking of some of Gotham's richest families. An incident with ███████ 's men revealed that Shadow is also a metahuman, appearing to use telekinesis - the ability to move objects with your mind. Shadow also seems to have enhanced healing abilities, recovering from a gunshot wound in minutes.

Shadow works in a dark black suit with a long black overcoat and a black domino mask covering her face. With the exception of the R&D department of Wayne Enterprises, there is not a single lock that Shadow can't break. Records also go to show that Shadow has not killed a person, only grievously injured and left them with multiple broken bones. 

███████ ███████ her parents were blue-collar workers but Shadow seems to have led a decently normal life until her parents passed when she was 16. She was put in the system, and sent to live with a now-dead foster family, who were in the upper echelons of Gotham. Shadow claims that this foster family was extremely verbally abusive and treated her terribly despite the money they had and that was what spurred her to "steal from the richest in Gotham and give their wealth to the ones living in Crime Alley to do as they please".

On multiple occasions, Shadow has been photographed with a mysterious woman. ███████

The extent of Shadow's powers is not known, and therefore she must be marked as dangerous. When she uses or attempts to use her telekinesis, her eyes ███████ ███████. Currently, she is kept in solitary at Belle Reve Penitentiary, bound by experimental power suppressant cuffs developed by STAR Labs. 

During her first interrogation at Belle Reve, Shadow revealed that all she wants to do "is help people who are suffering, and deal consequences to the ones making them suffer".

After everything with June...Flag sighs. Pinching the bridge of his nose, he stands. He has another problem to keep an eye on.

Many miles away, in a dark cell with a miniscule window, Sophie Gupta lays on the uncomfortable mattress, staring at the ceiling; her eyes inhumanly bright.

just a short, introductory paragraph to start us off! i wish i could be better at writing this profile things, but i am not lol. this chapter is basically to introduce sophie as a character from the perspective of the "good" guys. and of course, rick's first impression of her is not so great lmao.  the next chapter will be from sophie's POV and will pick up towards the start of the first film!
