Chapter 6
Elven:
I ran across the hall and made it to Ravens room. I knocked on the door "Uncle may I come in?" I said gasping for air.
"Yes Elven, come in." He said, almost as a whisper. I heard a chair move and another whisper in the background. "He is starting to ask questions" said the whisper.
I pried open the door. Raven was laying still on his bed with Murtagh on his right side reading a book next to him. Uncle was sitting on a chair discussing with Orik and telling him to lower his voice. I felt mad, because I knew something was going on, and they knew about it.
"You three have some explaining to do, and I am not moving from here until you explain everything." I said with force in my tone and sat right in the middle of the room.
"Elven stop speaking nonsense, you must be imagining things.." Said Oscar clearly hiding something else.
"I ran away because... I remembered that I left somethin' in here". Said Orik
"Guys stop!" Said Murtagh, "He clearly knows something and it is bothering him... Let's hear him out" Murtagh nodded at me, and I knew he was clearly interested in my story as well... I better be careful. What I say and how, will affect the outcome. Angela warned me about him and I shall kept it that way.
"Have any of you Heard about a woman named Angela?" I said and waited to let the name sink in.
"Angela..." Said Murtagh, "Yes I know her". He gritted his teeth saying her name, "We weren't friends per'se".
"..." Orik remained quiet.
"Yes Elven, I knew her. It has been years sense I've even heard her name, and for it to come from you... It makes me wonder how." Oscar said laying back on his chair and lighting up his pipe with a single flick of his finger.
I caught a whisper from him the moment he turned on the pipe, but I will let it pass. "Ok let me start from the beginning".
And so I began telling them how I saw something at school the other day, and how the teacher hated me. The bus accident. Waking up to a bad dream, and the practice fight against Orik and how he almost won. But as I got to the part where I managed to miss Orik's Shield bash, and move super fast enough to knock him to one knee, they all seamed quiet. Orik supported that part of my story. Telling them about what happened and what he saw.
"Incredible Elven, I have never seen you be as fast as Orik says... I wish I could have seen you best him. Not even I can best him and you did hahaha!". Oscar seemed happy, but Murtagh didn't share his happiness.
He looked at me with a serious face and kept staring at me until Orik spoke to him, "Hey Murtagh are you listening?" Orik stood up. "Are you deaf?".
Murtagh just sighed and looked at Raven, "Elven there is something you are not telling us, how come you know about Angela?". I swallowed for I knew that he was trying to read my mind, but I didn't let him. "You are not the only one trained in blocking your mind from other people Murtagh". I said feeling scared.
"From us three, Elven is very gifted in blocking his mind" said Oscar with a grin. "But he does have a point Elven, what really happened?. You can tell us".
I stared at Raven on his bed, " While I was speaking to Orik... I noticed that I was really speaking to a tree and not him. I was standing in the middle of a dirt road that had directions to different places".
"What places". Said Uncle in a shaky voice.
"There was a pole that had directions going from North, South, East and West. It mentioned the regions of the book you read to us when we were little; Du Waldenvarden, Surda, The Spine and more...
At first I was scared, but somehow, I felt right at home.
The air and the forest, it felt right to me. There was an Old Man standing there (I lied). He mentioned Angela and then he disappeared. I started fading, but before I left there was a sword on my hand and it was vibrating with life. I felt a connection to it and it whispered to me." I took a pause to grab some water, but Murtagh stood up quickly making the chair fall backwards.
"What Sword?" He said desperately.
I sat back down and drank some water, once done I looked straight at him and said "Islingr 'Light-Bringer' and then it disappeared". I looked around the room and they all had they're mouths opened. Except Raven who was still laying down and Murtagh who had a grim expression.
"Didn't that sword fall into the hands of Galbatorix?" Said Oscar to Orik.
"Aye, but after Eragon stopped him, we recovered all of the stolen rider swords and were distributed accordingly to all the major kingdoms. We found most of the ones that were missing, but only two were not found..." He sat there looking at the floor, "Brom's and Vrael's... To think Vrael's sword chose you... Unbelievable."
"It has happened before, but not like this..." Oscar looked at me, "It is time you and Raven knew the truth. Once he wakes up, I will tell you everything." Oscar stood up and left the room.
"Elven If I were Ye, don't leave yer brother side for nothin' ok?". He walked out of the room also in a hurry.
"Interesting outcome. I shall wait on my room until he wakes up. Have a good day." Said Murtagh with a sigh. He slowly walked out of the room and stopped at the door, "Elven, there are things that are meant to be buried, and all of this was something we tried to leave in the past.... Once your uncle tells you everything, I would like to speak to you and your brother in privacy" he closed the door and the room grew quiet again.
I walked next to raven and sat on the chair that Murtagh was sitting in. The book he was reading was the one uncle read to us as little kids...
I sat there for an hour thinking about Angela and all the things she told me.
Somehow I felt like I have known her for a long time, but when I thought about her it would just disappear. "She knew me... asked me if I remember anything else, and that sword... I felt power holding it."
"What power?..." Asked Raven groaning.
"While you have been knocked out, a few things happened". I said, but I looked at him in the eyes, and slowly told him while he ate some bread. "And now here we are. Uncle Oscar is waiting for us at his office with Orik and Murtagh. He wants to explain everything to us". I said standing up and stretching my arms out.
"Elven I need to tell you something too." Raven told me about the reading mind thing and also the ability to see and identify the 'Aura' or 'Magic'.
"I guess that would make more sense. I being able to fight and move faster than anyone. Then teleporting to god knows where." I said exaggerated.
"But Ever since the vivid dreams. I've known that you and me are very different than the people here Raven, And you know it. When I was standing in that road, I felt a rumble at my feet... A feeling of Ancient roots, making me accept the earth itself and accept my heritage to the known fact of my blood as a-." I said and stayed quiet for a while.
"Elven... Are you ok?". Said Raven standing up from his bed slowly.
"Ofcourse I am brother. Why wouldn't I be?" I said laughing, "What a silly question". I caught myself talking in a different voice and scared my self.
"See?! You sounded like you were talking with a weird rhythm." Said Raven freaked out.
"I___I don't really know". In that moment it was as if I was looking at myself talking, and me just floating kind of like a spirit.
"Come on Elven!" Said Raven trying to change his shirt, "I don't know what is happening either. When you spoke to me in a different voice, your Aura looked... Different and well old." Raven put on his boots and ran out of the room.
I felt scared. I didn't know what unknown things will happen to me from now on. We will see when I head out of this room, if all of this that is happening is good or bad. And if it all has any meaning to Angela's warning and my dream of fighting my brother.
