[Twenty Four]

Yoongi followed Hoseok up the stairs and through the door of his apartment. He could feel his breaths becoming unsteady as his nerves got the better of him. He smiled to himself as he thought: smell the pancakes, blow out the birthday candles. It wasn't instant, but his breathing was soon under control again.

"You can leave your shoes here," Hoseok pointed to a small rack next to the door.

Yoongi stood awkwardly in the short hallway near the front door, waiting for the younger to indicate where he should go.

"Let me show you around," Hoseok cheerfully took his hand, leading him to the end of the hallway. "Here is the bathroom and my room."

The door was open, revealing a neat bedroom where sunshine was still streaming through the windows even though clouds began to gather in the distance.

"Then, obviously, here is the kitchen. This is the living room. We have a little patio over here. Through there is Taehyung's room." As Hoseok let out these words, his eyes grew wide and he let go of the older's hand, rushing over to quickly pull the door shut. "Not sure if anyone should ever be seeing that." He looked genuinely disturbed by whatever it was. Yoongi laughed.

"So what are your plans, it couldn't have just been the grand tour." he teased. The lighting changed in the room as clouds shifted slowly in the sky.

Hoseok sauntered over behind the kitchen island and lifted a paper grocery bag off the floor. He pulled out a bag of flour and a bag of mini chocolate chips.

"We're going to make your chocolate chip pancakes!" he announced, his eyes forming crescents. "I know you just came from the restaurant, so if you're tired and just want to supervise, you are welcome to," he gestured to one of the bar stools alongside the island as he continued collecting ingredients from the cupboards.

Yoongi'd almost forgotten that he'd mentioned wanting to make pancakes with Hoseok during their book-hunt game and was instantly touched that the younger made that a priority.

"No, I'll help. What should I do first?"

"You can break two eggs into...," Hoseok rummaged in the cupboard until he found the right container. "this bowl. Whisk them, they need to be slightly beaten. I'll get the dry ingredients blended together."

Yoongi followed the instructions, stealing glances at the younger who mumbled and integrated dry ingredients together in a large bowl. "Two cups flour, two tablespoons sugar, one-and-a-half teaspoons baking soda, two teaspoons baking powder..." He didn't even have a recipe as a reference.

"If you have an encyclopedic knowledge of breakfast recipes, I'm going to have to keep you forever." Yoongi laughed, only half-kidding. Yoongi really liked breakfast food.

Hoseok looked up and cracked a smile, "Hate to disappoint, but I made blueberry pancakes with my aunt and sisters every weekend when I was young. I just memorized her recipe. We'll substitute the blueberries for chocolate chips." Noticing that the eggs were pulverized appropriately, he directed, "Okay, pour that in here and stir. I'm going to add the milk-- keep stirring! Make sure there are no lumps. Then you need to fold in the chocolate chips." He wiped his hands on a towel and stepped away to preheat a nonstick pan on the oven's front burner.

Yoongi was busy mixing the batter together and laughing at how bossy the younger became in the kitchen when he felt Hoseok walk up, resting his chin on his right shoulder.

"That looks good, bring it over to the stove. C'mon, we'll walk together," he giggled, hugging the older's torso from behind and clasping his hands together in front.

Together, they waddled over to the stove, taking their left and right steps in sync. Yoongi put the bowl down and used the ladle that Hoseok left on the counter to pour the batter into the pan for the first pancake.

They watched the pancake as bubbles formed on the surface of the batter. Hoseok made tiny "bloop, bloop, bloop!" sound effects in Yoongi's ear as the first few bubbles burst during the cooking process.

Yoongi brought his hands down to his waist to rest on top of the younger's. "You're really cute, you know that right?" he said turning to where Hoseok's chin still rested on his shoulder.

Hoseok looked into the older's eyes through his own long lashes, then pressed a quick kiss to his cheek and stated, "Focus. It's time to flip." He emphasized this with a light slap-slap on Yoongi's shoulder, then walked away to put the ingredients back into cupboards.

"Cute and A BRAT," Yoongi clarified, turning to give an accusing look to the younger.

And... that's when Hoseok took a small handful of flour and threw it on top of Yoongi's head.

He laughed at first. Then, he immediately scampered around the kitchen island and crouched next to a stool to avoid Yoongi's retaliation. But the problem, now, was that he couldn't see which side the older could be coming from.

"You... You left the whole flour bag right here." Yoongi cackled. "Bad move."

"Shit." Hoseok breathed, hearing the crinkle of the paper bag as Yoongi lifted it.

"Look, I can play fair. I'll pour you some flour, too."

"You're lying!" Hoseok agonized as he strained to hear if Yoongi was coming any closer.

Then he heard the sound of a bowl sliding across the counter toward him. "No, I'm not."

Hesitantly, Hoseok reached his hand up, feeling around and then grabbed the bowl. He brought it to his hiding space and it was, as promised, filled with flour. "Are we really gonna do this then?"

"Yep."

Hoseok heard the click of the stove burner turning off.

"You're not mad?"

"Nope."

"Okay... But it can't leave the kitchen. Tile is easier to clean than fabric."

"Done," Yoongi stated. "...Hobi, you'll have to stand up or I'm just going to go over there and get you."

Hoseok counted down from three and then popped up, only to be met with flour flying into his face and Yoongi's uncontrollable laughter.

The food fight continued with both boys alternating between ducking and mercilessly pelting each other with flour. The kitchen was filled with laughter, yelps, smack-talk, and white clouds.

But after a couple of minutes, Hoseok realized that in his excitement, he hadn't been reserving his flour as much as he could have - his bowl was empty. He looked up to see Yoongi strolling toward him with a triumphant look on his face.

"Hyuuung! Please, no!" Hoseok half-giggled, half-pleaded, covering the top of his head with his hands as Yoongi pushed him against the wall.

He stood, frozen, as Yoongi lifted his hand, caked with flour, and pressed the palm to Hoseok's cheek. The older leaned in and kissed him softly. Hoseok's hands fell to his sides and he kissed back.

The next thing he felt was Yoongi's smile against his lips...

...and the remaining contents of the flour bag being dumped on his head.

[a/n y'all, be honest: if this happened to you would you think it was cute or would you be pissed af?]
