[Nine]
Ossu Seiromushi [a/n Jin's actual restaurant, co-owned with big bro!] was started by Jin and his husband, Namjoon, three years ago. After their honeymoon in Japan, Jin claimed that he needed to bring traditional Japanese cooking they experienced back home even if it had already "been done". Jin put so much care and passion into his food and he always made time to come out to the dining room to greet customers and make sure that their meals were satisfactory.
Yoongi met Jin when he worked a shitty delivery job straight after dropping out of school. Yoongi had gone to the wrong apartment for the delivery, having gotten lost. He was basically having a full-on panic attack when he finally arrived at the right place - he couldn't lose this job due to bad feedback from a customer. Jin comforted him and assured him that he wouldn't call Yoongi's workplace over a small mistake.
Alongside Yoongi's tip, Jin sent a note with his number on it: If you need to talk, for ANY reason, give me a call or text. From then on, Jin was his big brother - period.
When Jin and Namjoon started the process of buying a restaurant, Yoongi was the first person they called. Knowing that Yoongi was still making payments for his student debt - when his father shut him out years ago, the massive debt fell on his shoulders - Jin hired him without hesitation. Most nights, Jin sent him home with "leftovers" (that Yoongi knew the older had specifically cooked and set aside for him) to make sure that the younger did not have to worry about groceries or cooking at home for himself or his roommate, Jungkook.
"Yoongi-ah! Thank you thank you thank you thank you -"
"I told you, I don't mind, hyung. I'm happy to help." Yoongi rolled his eyes at Jin's dramatic greeting.
"Have you eaten?" Jin said, taking Yoongi by the hand and walking deeper into the restaurant's kitchen. It was more of a demand than a question, really, as Jin knew that Yoongi often neglected himself.
"No, hyung," Yoongi droned.
Jin looked at him with a soft smile, slightly shaking his head, "You need to take better care of yourself." he chided, preparing a bowl.
"Did you actually need my help or did you lure me here to play mother bear?" Yoongi scoffed, "What should I start working on?"
"You're of no help to anyone if you're weak and distracted by hunger midway through service." Jin stated matter-of-factly. "Eat up and meet me back here to begin prepping vegetables."
Yoongi sighed and took the bowl out to the dining room, which was empty seeing as the restaurant wasn't open yet.
He sat and began to eat, feeling regret for talking to Jin the way he did. Why does he do so much for me? I don't deserve such kindness. Yoongi watched the cabbage as it circled in the broth, mirroring the way his intrusive thoughts cycled in and out of the focus in his mind.
Yoongi glanced out the window and thought he spotted someone who looked a lot like -
But it wasn't him.
