Recap: Veera tried to make his mother understand Kanmani's stand. Later Kanmani rush out of her home when Bommi inform about Singaram's trouble.

Veera and Arul ran behind Kanmani and Bommi. They all halted before a house where they saw Singaram abusing a man and his wife for not paying the debts. The woman of the house was crying and the man was pleading for a few more days to pay the debts.

Veera and Arul tried to take Kanmani away from there but she yanked her hand from them and screamed at Singaram when he started calling the woman names.

Kanmani: Nee panam kudutha panam mattu kelu. Avanga enna unnoda adimaiya ? Kekka yarum illa nu nenappa ?  ( If you hav egiven then money then talk only about that. Do you think they are your slaves or did you think there is no one to question you ?)

Singaram: Ippo dhan nenachen ennada namma chella ponnu Kanmani kaanum nu.  ( Just now I thought where our sweet child Kanmani is ?)

Kanmani: Oor president, kooda naal jalra irundha enna venum nalum pannuvingala ? ( You will do anything just because you are the village president and have a few men to chorus for you  is it ?)

A few men who came with Singaram glared at her advancing towards her.

Man1 : Ivlo pesura la kaasu ne kudu illa vaaya mooditu po. ( you so much so why don't you pay the money back or shut your mouth and leave from here)

Man2: Periya Velu Nachiya nu nenappu. ( She thinks she is the Velu Nachiya )

Kanmani: Thappa thatti kekka Velu Nachiya va irukkanum nu illa dhairiyam irundha podhum.      ( One doesn't need to be Velu Nachiya to question the wrong, all we need is the courage )

Singaram: Kanmani nee dhairiyasali dhan aana adhellam poi pasangalukku silambam sollikudukradhula kaatu. Yennoda velai la kurukka varadha. ( Kanmani, you are courageous and show that in training the children with Silambam. Don't interfere in my business )

Arul: Kanmani, vaa polam inga irundhu.. ( Kanmani, come lets go from here )

Kanmani: Nee chumma iru neyyy.. Senthil anna police la complaint kudunga. ( You be quite brother.. Senthil bro, you file a compliant to the police )

Veera: Kanmani, come lets go home. They will handle this. 

Kanmani: Veera, he can't just like that abuse a woman because her husband couldn't return the money on time. This is against the law.

Singaram: Enna Kanmani sattam lam pesura ? ( what Kanmani, you are talking about law ?)

Arul nudged Veera but he ignored him and tried to stop Kanmani when he felt the nudge repeatedly from Arul he got annoyed.

Veera: Enna da ? ( what man ?)

Arul: Konjam thirumbi paru mapla.. unnoda soli mudinchu.. ( Just turn and have a look son in law... your game is over )

Veera almost guessed what it could be still slowly turned his head and was petrified when he saw his mother standing gritting her teeth. Mathi saw Veera looking at her and she shook her head and left from there.

Singaram: Senthil, I will give you 2 days time and you better pay the interest.

The crowd started dispersing and Arul dragged Veera and Bommi dragged Kanmani with her. They returned home and Kanmani was ranting about singaram's behaviour while others were just listening to her.

Arul: thangachi, athai unna paathutu ponanga maa. (sister, aunty left after seeing you )

Kanmani: So ?

Arul: You know how much she hates people fighting for other's matters. She used to fight manickam uncle when he raised his voice for other people's problems.

Kanmani: I m like manickam uncle and I will raise my voice against injustice. I will not stop that for any reason.

Veera and Arul pouted thinking of the next consequences. They were shook by a laughing Bommi who pointed to the door and they rose to the feet on seeing Mathi and Ranga.

Veera Mv: Right da, prechana start ayiduchu. ( right man, the problem has started )

Mathi: Anna, naa theliva onnu solla vandhen... Kanmani kum Veera kum kalyanam adutha masam nadakkanum apram ava enga kooda Chennai ku varanum. Veera inga irukka mattan, Kanmani yum aduthavanga prechaniku poi nikka koodadhu. Rendu naal time tharen avala badhil solla sollunga illa indha kalyanam eppavum nadakadhu.

( Brother, I mhere to make something clear. Kanmani and Veera's marriage has to happen in a month and she has to come with us to Chennai. Veera will not stay here also Kanmani should not interfere in other's business. I will give two days time and let her tell her answer else this marriage will never happen. )

Veera: Maa, chumma chumma idhu madhiri pannadhinga. ( Maa, don't do this repeatedly )

Mathi: Didn't I agree to your marriage with her ? Now tell her to stop meddling in other's problem and be a good wife to you. She can go work even if she wants but I won't tolerate her picking up fights with others for no reason.

Kanmani: No reason? aunty, he was abusing that woman for no reason. He is looting people here and don't forget Manickam uncle was the only one who raised his voice against such injustice.

Mathi: You don't remind me of my husband's actions. I know what he did and also I know what I should do with my son.

Veera: When will you stop dominating all of us maa ? You never wanted me to involve in any fights or meddle with other 's business like my father did and I respected your words and never did anything like that. I m your son and you have all rights on me but you can't go order around everyone to do as you wish.

Mathi: Kanmani meddling with other's business is a problem if she gets married to you. I don't want anyone trouble you because of her actions. Well she can do anything she wish but let her forget marrying you.

Kanmani: blackmail panringala athai ? ( are you blackmailing me aunty ?)

Mathi: no, I m standing for my son to save him from getting into troubles because of other people.

Veera: I m not a child needing protection from anyone. I m a grown up man capable of saving myself and the people around me. Either I will marry Kanmani or forget that you will get to see your son getting married.

Veera stormed out and Arul followed him. Ranga moved next to his daughter and wrapped his hand around her.

Ranga: As much as she is my daughter no one can deny that Manickam raised her as well. Me and Manickam had sowed every seed of good deeds in all our children. Understand that Kanmani is also Manickam's heir. 

Mathi stormed out and Kanmani sat on the couch sighing in frustration.

Ranga: Kanmani, I respect your thought to help the people here and to stand for them but respect your uncle's wish too. I know how much he means to you. Pay respect to his dead soul. He will be the most broken soul if you and Veera don't get married. Its not wrong when we give up something for whom we love the most. Here your uncle and Veera both mean a lot to you. 

Kanmani: How do you expect me to change over night ? Isn't it like killing my original self and how long will I act like a perfect daughter in law like she is expecting ? Don't I have the right to live my life as me the original Kanmani ? Even Veera doesn't have problem with me being like this.

Ranga: Veera is not a single person Kanmani, he is a part of his mother and accepting him is accepting his mother too.

Kanmani: I can't be a cowardice appa.

Ranga: I don't raise my voice like you and Manickam did. does that mean I m a cowardice ?

Kanmani: Appa...

Ranga: Think well Kanmani. Whatever may be just don't give up on Veera.

Kanmani: I will never give up on him appa. A simple nuptial thread doesn't decide our future. With or without marriage we will stay together by heart. 

She entered her room and closed the door behind sobbing to the happenings.

By evening she called Arul and got to know that he and Veera were away from the village and would return late at night. She quickly locked the door and drove the cycle to Veera's home.

Mathi was preparing tea when Kanmani entered inside. 

Mathi: Vaa Kanmani, nee varuva nu theriyum.. ukkaru.. tea eduthutu varen. ( Come Kanmani.. I know you would come.. sit.. I will bring tea )

Kanmani sat on the couch and Mathi returned with two glasses of tea and placed one glass before Kanmani.

Mathi: Tell me what have you decided ?

Kanmani: Athai, yen ippadi panringa ? Naa yen inga irukanum solren nu ungalukku theriyadha ? Veera kitta naa unmaiyana reason solla romba neram agadhu. ( Aunty, why do you do this ? Don't you know why I wanted to be here ? It won't take long for me to reveal everything to Veera)

Mathi: Nee enakku sathiyam panni irukka unga mama mela adhu nyabagam irukkatum. ( You promised me on your uncle, remember that )

Kanmani: Then you to remember that you said you will reveal everything to Veera by yourself and get us married. Now what happened to that ?

Mathi: I m not denying that Kanmani. I m ready to marry you to Veera but I m not ok with you going in the path of your uncle or revealing what happened 8 years ago. 

Kanmani: you are not doing good by hiding everything from Veera. Its a betrayal to both uncle and Veera.

Mathi: Its not betrayal but the love and care I have for my son. You won't understand it Kanmani.

Kanmani: Still I won't be selfish and coward like you aunty. I respected you a lot and even trusted your words. I saw you as my mother.

Mathi: Nanum appadi nenachu dhan unna ippo ne panra edhuvum panna venam solren. ( even I m saying you to stop whatever you are doing in the same rights )

Kanmani: Veera unga paiyan mattun illa Manickam mama paiyan kooda. Neenga evlo muyarchi  pannalaum oru naal avan unmaiyana gunam veliya vandhu dhan agum. ( He is not only your son but manickam uncle son too.. However you keep trying but one day his true character will show up )

Mathi: I will never allow that to happen.

Kanmani: Pavam athai Veera, namma rendu perukku naduvula kashta paduvan. ( Have some pity on Veera aunty, he will struggle between us )

Mathi: Why don't you agree that whatever I say is for your own good ?

Kanmani shook her head and placed the glass on the table getting up to leave.

Kanmani: Neenga nalla yosinga first. Naa varen.  Night samaikadhinga naa dosa meen kozhambu kuduthu vidren. ( You think very well.. I will take my leave. don't prepare dinner. I will send dosa and fish curry)

Kanmani left from there and Mathi looked at her husband's photo and cursed him for pushing her into this situation.

There is a secret between Kanmani and Mathi which will change all their lives for sure and that will be secret until either of them reveals so keep guessing it.
