"Luke? Honey? Hurry up we're going to be late for your graduation!" Luke's mother was rushing him along and trying her best to get him dressed nicely in a suit to wear under his gown.

"Calm down, it's just graduation." Luke chuckled, running his fingers through his hair to make it look somewhat presentable.

"It's a big step forward in life. Next is college, and maybe a family." She smiled small, watching Luke slowly turn to looking toward her. "Your soulmate could be there today. People have distant relatives come to graduations. It could be a very big day today."

Luke suddenly grew nervous, she could be right. It's been 18 years and today could be the day things change, the day where he sees color and has someone to share life with.

"Now c'mon, your father and brothers are waiting in the car." His mother ushered him out the door.

"Wait!" Luke stopped her. "What if I meet my soulmate today? What do I do?"

"If it happens today just let everything happen naturally." Luke nodded and followed her out to the car where he squeezed into the middle seat between his two older brothers.

He was silent the whole drive. He was silent during the whole ceremony. He was silent when his mother introduced him to people he met years ago, but she forgot. He was silent when they got dinner afterwards to celebrate. He was silent when he got home. He was silent because once again he came back home to a life of no color.

His hopes were crushed once again.
