Chapter 7
—= Kirishima's + POV =—
His tail kept swaying from side to side, a smile shone brightly on his face almost seeming welcoming but I couldn't help but feel something tug slightly at my chest telling me to run.
Bakugo pushed past, sitting in the chair opposite from Ojiro and let his legs lift onto the table, clearly not impressed by Ojiro's welcome.
"Why are you here Ojiro."
"You never were the kind for polite introductions were you Bakugo?" A small laugh emitting from his mouth, he raised his hand rubbing the back of his head. A small bashful smile beaming on his face.
A knot forming in the pit of my stomach, I scoot closer to Bakugo, placing a hand on his shoulder reassuringly. I felt him trembling slightly, and a question rose from my mouth.
"Are there any other kids?" Ojiro's face melting into one of pleasure, he clasped his hands together as he leaned forward. His eyes shining with eagerness at the question.
"Oh sure! We have more kids than everyone thinks, we'll have three more if you choose to join too!"
"Join?" Todoroki's voice cutting the air from enjoyment, Ojiro's eyes linked with his, as they stared at each other for a few seconds before Ojiro's expression softened into one more readable. A facial expression like one a business man would wear when signing a dangerous contract. He was being careful.
"Well, isn't that why you're here? It's the recruitment centre?"
"Were looking for a kid."
"How specific." Ojiro giggling, it was quickly cut off as Bakugo slammed his hands into the table, sparks crackling threateningly as he raised one of his hands, the fire roaring on his palm.
There was frustration burning inside of his eyes, but with seeing a small bit closer, you'd notice Bakugo was also growing desperate too. Impatient.
Todoroki shot me a wary glance, before stepping a small bit closer, wanting to be able to go on the defence in case things went south.
"I'm not fucking around Ojiro." Seeming to wince at the curse word, he tightened his grip, balling his hands into a fist as he set them down slowly on the table, the smile slowly fading.
"I noticed. It's not a casual walk around your house that would bring you here." Touching around trying to grab more information off of Bakugo, I clasped his shoulder tightly, trying to signal something was not quite normal.
Something didn't feel right...
Ojiro glancing towards me quickly, his tail stopped swaying and curled around the chair. His expression turning into one of exhaustion.
"What's the kids name?" Todoroki perking up at the question, curiosity shone brightly in his eyes and Ojiro noticed.
Bakugo glaring from the side of his eye at Todoroki, he stayed in the chair, his expression bitter as he looked away from the desk.
"Izuku Midoriya." Ojiro's eyes widening for a split second, he melted into a bashful smile
"Wowww, such a cute name! But, I don't know if we have anyone with his name, of course he might be in the other regiments, but the only way to know would be to go to their locations."
"What are there locations?"
"Now that, I'm not allowed to say unless you join. But! I can do it myself if you want?"
"I don't trust you." Ojiro smiling softly at Bakugo, he stood up from his chair, his tail swishing thoughtfully as his eyebrows creased.
"That's kind of hurtful. But I understand, what about taking a temporary partnership with one of my lovely members? I can sign you up with a scout, they go through all the regiments once every two weeks."
"And how would that make us feel any better?" Joining in on the conversation, bakugo shot me a careful glance before turning back towards Ojiro, seeming to not want to lose his sight of him in case something would go wrong.
It might go wrong....
"Well, for starters all three can go, and I'll keep your safety as my top priority, everyone's family here boys." Ojiro leaning slightly against his desk, staring between the three of us trying to read an expression, I kept my hand latched onto Bakugo warily.
Nodding his head thoughtfully, Ojiro walked out of the room for a few seconds and came back later with the bartender.
"this is our scout, I know he doesn't look like much but I assure you he can keep you safe. He's also a decent bartender, as you've probably seen him before trying to come see me." Raising his hand slightly in a greeting gesture, Todoroki inched closer towards Bakugo and I.
"Names Shinsou, nice to meet you." His purple hair sat lazily on top of his head, and the dark bags under his eyes made it easier to emphasize the exhaustion on his face.
Reaching out a hand to shake Bakugo's, he scoffed and whipped his hand away, not wanting to touch the bartender.
"I already told you I don't trust you. Why is this guy any different."
"He's not a bad person." Ojiro narrowing his eyes at Bakugo, Shinsou rested a hand on Ojiro's shoulder for a few seconds before letting go and looking up at us.
"If you don't trust me and don't want to find your friend say so. But there isn't really any other way than to come with me and check. I'm leaving to scout for the next regiment in a week, so whether you want to come or not just come back here." Shinsou lolling his head back tired, he dragged a hand across his face before turning away and walking off into the hallway.
"Well, I guess that's the offer then. If you want to come back we'll be more than happy to help you, but because of trust issues right now it's better to go with someone the regiments are comfortable with." Ojiro beaming at us, he started making his way to the door.
"Decisions up to you alright? See you in a week if you say yes." Waving goodbye, Ojiro left the room leaving the three of us in silence. Tension still wavering in the air, I jumped slightly as Bakugo stood up from the chair.
His red eyes flaming as he stared between the two of us.
"We're going."
