Chapter 4
"What the fuck are you doing here?!"
"I was walking." Anger bubbled inside of me, swirling around, thrashing violently inside my chest. I clamped my hands shut as tight as I could, trying my best to keep my composure so as not to get caught if we weren't already.
"Bullshit." A venomous whisper spitting out of me, Todoroki glanced out of the window, narrowing his eyes thinking about something, before turning to look back, a blank expression on his face.
"I was walking behind you."
"Why. And you better tell me the full answer if you don't want to end up severely hurt." Glaring daggers at Todoroki, he let out a breath that sounded similar to a laugh, only afterwards giving a proper answer.
"I already said it before, I'm worried about you."
"Don't be." Todoroki chuckled, raking his hand through his hair, he stared down at me coldly, seeming a little annoyed.
"If I could control my emotions like that, I wouldn't be following you now would I?" Opening my mouth to retaliate, I shut it quick when I heard another voice calling from behind Todoroki. Following where the voice had come from, I let out a groan to see Kirishima running towards us, waving.
"We're continuing this conversation later." My voice low in a growl, I pushed past Todoroki and grabbed Kirishima by the collar, dragging him until we were a good distance away.
"Bakugo-" Kirishima squirming around trying to get out of my grip, I clenched my fist tightly, hoping it would stop him from struggling but realized he'd just keep trying until he got the point.
"Shut up."
"But Ba-"
"I said shut up!"
"But he's following us!" Slowing to an immediate stop, a grin slugged its way onto my lips ever so slowly. A clock ticking inside of me, I turned slowly, my gaze burning ever so fiercely at the boy who was really trying his limits today.
"Ah?!" Kirishima hurriedly stepping with the movement so as not to be flung on the ground, I rolled my eyes at Kirishima before locking eye contact with Todoroki. What the hell is this guy thinking, does he want to be killed?
Todoroki was walking calmly, his face neutral, before he finally caught up with me and looked down.
"What kind of game are you playing half n' half." Snarling at Todoroki, he blinked slowly before turning and beckoning his hand.
"I thought we could finish talking in a proper manner, c'mon."
Smoke rippling off of my hands, I let out a huff before following Todoroki down the hallway, glancing to the side to see Kirishima with a worried expression, but managed to force me a smile once he realized we had locked eye contact before looking back to Todoroki, his face falling into one more serious.
"I want to know your story."
"My story??"
"What happened, why do you seem to care so much about shades?" My ribs snapped tight onto me, flinching and eyes widening in sudden surprise, anger began to swirl inside of the pits of my stomach. Burning to strike in a moments notice.
"It's none of your fucking business. And for your information, my life isn't a story you can just open up and read whenever you please you rich piece of shit."
"Are you a shade?" The question had thrown me into becoming speechless. I was quite close to reaching my limit with this Canadian flag ass wipe, and honestly it would be my delight to get suspended for beating up a kid.
A few days off and some physical therapy would not be something I would regret at this point. Parting my lips ready to say something one shouldn't in a zone that had adults watching, Kirishima cut me off before I could continue.
"Bakugo...I think he's only trying to help." Whipping around to face Kirishima, my face fell seeing the sad, slightly terrified manner upon his face. A sigh of frustration rippled out of me as I slapped my hands on my head, dragging them down. My nails digging into my skin and leaving scratch marks along the way.
"Fine. Fine, whatever. The more people to help the better or some shit like that."
"Thank you."
"For what??"
"Opening up to me like a book." I froze. A small laugh creeping it's way out of my mouth, I slowly turned around to glower at Todoroki, his eyes gleaming with amusement.
"You little-"
"W-What Bakugo meant to say! Was that, thanks for worrying about him." Todoroki's corners of his mouth tilted upwards in a smile as he eyed Kirishima, a gentle air settling.
"So, can you answer my question?"
"Which was?" I seethed. Teeth grinding against one another Todoroki merely stared down at me, unfazed by this usual behaviour in and out of the classroom.
"Shades. Why do you care so much?" Fixing the collars of his sleeves, he tugged on his sleeves to kill the wrinkles, then met my eyes. "So?"
"One of his friends went missing." My heart stopped.
"Kirishima."
"He's really important to Bakugo!" Eyes widening hurriedly, lightning roared inside of me as I snatched Kirishima's wrist. Squeezing tightly, he let out a quick yelp, his expression melting into one of fear.
"Kirishima!" Barking at Kirishima, I turned around, towering above him a storm settled its way into my bones, sparkling and cracking, I raised my hand threateningly towards Kirishima's face.
"Not. Another. Word." The red head peeking one eye open towards me with caution, he quickly nodded backing away as my arm lowered.
"Ah. I think I get it now. Someone you cherished has gone missing, and you think the shades took them?"
"..."
"That sounds far-fetched. He's probably just another kid that ran away and got lost. Or a kidnapping. We don't even know the shades took your friend." My head hung low, hair hiding the rage firing inside of me. My eyes snapped open wide I turned to scowl at Todoroki.
"... You want to say that again?" Todoroki not answering, I let out a huff as I sized him up. Fucking good for nothing. Thoughts raced inside my head, swirling inside of my mind, growing louder I clamped my hands into fists, glaring at Todoroki.
"If you want to help so bad never say that again or I swear I'm going to fucking CLAW your eyes out." Spitting at Todoroki's feet, he stepped back quickly in surprise, his usual mask falling off for a split-second
"We're checking out the fucking recruitment centre, asking if they got any kids yet, if you decide not to be a waste of space we're going in two days. If you think about telling anyone you're going to seriously regret it scar face." Todoroki flinching at the last comment, he tore his gaze away from mine, staring solemnly out the window.
"Sure, Bakugo. See you in two days. Please excuse me now." Bowing his head slightly, he turned away, walking down the hallway. My muscles twitching in anger and anticipation, but deep down there was also a small tinge of anxiety brewing behind the seams.
Silence had filled into the hallways once more and as I lowered my hands turning my head slightly so Kirishima was now in my field of vision. I could feel him tense up from where I was standing, clearly unsure of how to converse with me.
"Bakugo, I-"
"Doesn't matter. Meet after-school by the garden, two days. If you want to be friends you'll do a favour for me since you brought the discount with us." Kirishima lowering his head, he nodded as I grunted. Pulling away from the conversation, I sighed knowing I was going to regret this.
"See you tomorrow Kirishima."
"Ah! Yeah! See you tomorrow!" Kirishima perking up, surprised at the sudden input of conversation, I rolled my eyes continuing my way down the hall on my way home.
How exhausting.
