Chapter 1

*Lucy's POV*
"No, Mike. I'm not really in the mood today." I grabbed Mike's hand and pushed it away from my chest.
"Awh, come on Luce. It's been a few months since we've, ya know..." He slightly thrusted his hips.
We were supposed to be studying for our first advanced chemistry class test this coming week, and all he can think about is where to put his extra limb. Just the thought of what was going on inside of his head was making me gag a little on the inside. Even then, we weren't studying. We had a movie playing, IT to be exact. And not the remake, the original
Three months with this douche. Three long, agonizing, torturous months. Why I'm with him you ask? That's quite the story actually. Let's recap.
"And that's exactly why you can never trust any guy," Carmen stated, pushing her thick-rimmed glasses up on her face.
Carmen was almost every guy's dream. Long brown hair reaching towards the middle of her back, tan sun-kissed skin, striking green eyes, pretty much everything any guy would wish for. Her glasses were supposed to be only for reading, but she insisted that they made her look "sexier" and being the good friend I am, I just agreed.
"Wait. Run that by me one more time. You completely lost me." I admitted, gaping at her. She was talking about Brody, again, and I was having a hard time paying attention, again. Don't get me wrong, I love my best friend, but Brody and his gang are just a bunch of no good jackasses who think they run the school.
"Luciana Rose Haven! Listen to me this time!" She reached over to her end table, picked up her tissue box, and threw it at me.
With how perfect looking she may be, her room makes up for it. It was rather disastrous. Clothes were scattered everywhere; her dark green carpeted floor, the light green bean bags by the purple window curtains, all over her brand new purple and green striped bed set. Her oak dresser was spewing out clothes. Garbage was littering her floor and her actual garbage can was completely empty.
"Okay, okay, okay," I sighed. I pulled my bare, pale legs up onto the bed and sat crossed legged with my elbows on my knees and held my face in both of my hands. "Continue on."
Carmen sighed with a slight chuckle.
"As I was saying and did say. Brody was all over this girls page on Facebook!" She handed me her phone allowing me to scroll through the social media page.
"Every time I am sick, he's always on some other bitches page! I mean I know it's not her fault, but still!" She sat back on her pillow with a pouting face.
I continued scrolling through this Jessica girls profile page. Everything she had posted, Brody liked or loved and even commented. There was even a comment on how 'sexy' this Jessica girl looked.
Handing Carmen her phone back, I sighed, "I don't get why you're still with him. This is the third time in almost a year. He's been nothing but scum since you've started dating."
"You're supposed to support me and my decisions, Lucy." Carmen pouted, crossing her arms and batting her emerald green eyes.
"Yes, good decisions. Not stupid decisions. The guy uses you for sex and money, Carm." I laid down on the bed next to her.
It was late at night and this was my second night at her house to help take care of her while her parents are out of town. Carmen was sick, as usual, and wanted me around to help her around. I didn't mind making her food and filling her bath for her, as long as she can feed and bathe by herself.
"Coming from the girl who hasn't dated since the third grade." Carmen teased.
"Hey. He was my one true love. Leave Hunter out of this." I giggled, holding my hand over my chest. No, it wasn't love, this I know. It was the cute crap that happens in elementary school. Besides, Hunter's been gone for years now. His family just up and moved and I haven't heard from him since 6th grade. Nobody has...
As I was caught up in my thoughts about Hunter and where he could be, Carmen's phone made a quick ping-ing noise. I glanced up at her in time to see her smile, which was quickly lost when she realized I was staring right at her.
"Oh shit. Lucy, I'm sorry. But, uhm," she looked at her phone, looked at me, then back to her phone, "Brody's coming over for a few hours."
"Now!? Carm it's nearly ten! You have to get rest. Besides, what happened to what he did on Jessica's page?" I glared at her.
"I know! I'm sorry. He just offered to come over and how could I say no?" She said biting her bottom lip, "Besides, I'm feeling a heck of a lot better thanks to you!"
I sat up, dangling my legs off the side of the bed. Being around Brody angered me. He was a tall, muscular built man with dark hair and fair skin. When he smiled, his cheeks would show smile lines and perfect pearly teeth. His face just pissed me off.
"He'll be here in ten minutes, Luce." She swung her legs over the side of the bed and rushed to her bathroom, probably to do her make up.
Why him, Carm... I internally scolded her as I got up and took my pajama's off to put on something appropriate.
I searched the messy room for my usual clothes and spotted the dark pile. My black clothes were the darkest thing in Carmen's room, and I wasn't surprised at all. I was sliding into my skinny jeans and t-shirt when a knock from downstairs startled me.
Carmen poked her head out of her bathroom, "Can you go get it, Luce? I want to finish my hair."
I groaned and slumped my way out of her bedroom. Her house was rather large for parents with only one child. There were six bedrooms, four made for guests, two offices, three bathrooms, a large living room, a piano/dance room, a kitchen and an eating area. Plus the pool in the backyard which was lit up every night by underwater lights and the lights and the patio lights. Her backyard also had a stone path lit up by ground lights leading through the woods to a view of the city from a hill. It was breathtaking. Usually, that's where Carmen and I would hang out.
Making my way down the staircase, I hear another loud knock at the door.
"I'm coming! Hold on you impatient blockhead." I muttered to myself.
The front door was right in front of me and slowly turned the lock, savoring every second of peace and quiet before Brody's loud mouth comes in. Just as the lock clicked into it's unlatched position, the handle was turned and the door thrown open.
Brody stepped in and was wearing his varsity jacket with ripped jeans and in his hands were two 24 packs of Bud Light.
"Where's my little caramel candy?" He grinned at me.
"Her name is Carmen. She's getting ready," I deadpanned, "why do you have beer, Brody?"
Just as I finished my sentence, another figure appeared in the door. I wasn't the least bit surprised to see Brody's right-hand man, Michael Norwood. His hair was short and blonde. He had dark brown eyes. His skin has a peachy tone to it and his build was similar to Brody's, but Michael was shorter.
"What's up goth chick?" Michael cackled at his own joke.
"I'm not goth. Also, you're not funny." I pushed him out of the way so I could close the door.
"Anyways Brody, Carmen," I emphasized, "is upstairs in her room. Stay here and I'll be right back." I turned back towards the stairs, walking back to Carmen's room.
Just as I got to the third step I hear Brody's voice from behind me whisper, "Bro, she's got a nice ass. You should tap that tonight." And they both chuckled.
My face turned red as I bolted straight up the stairs. It was taking everything I had not to turn around and punch Brody in his chisel-chinned jaw. Pigs.
I ran into Carmen's room slamming the door. Carmen looked at me with wide eyes and laughed.
"You scared me. Did you see a ghost?" She giggled.
"You knew they were bringing alcohol, didn't you?" I hissed.
"Mmm. Yes. I didn't tell you otherwise you would've left. You're missing out, Lucy! You're in high school, it's time to have fun. Enjoy yourself tonight! It'll be fun!" She grabbed my hands and smiled at me, "Please!"
I glared at her. I've seen what alcohol does to you, I live above a club, believe me I've seen a lot of things. But one beer wouldn't do much at all. If I have just one beer, she'll leave me alone about how I "never have fun". I just didn't want to turn into the drunk obnoxious girl who's throwing up on her best friends, boyfriends lap while she's crying about God only knows what problems in her life.
Rolling my eyes, I gave her my final decision, "One beer, Carm. That's all I'm having."
Carmen clapped her hands excitedly and squealed.
"Let's go before all of the beer is gone!" She grabbed my hand opening up the door and running through the hall and down the stairs back towards the blockheaded pigs.
"Hey, baby." Brody chided. By now, the boys had their shoes and jackets off and were standing next to the cases of beer on the table. Carmen ran to Brody, jumping onto him and pulling him in for a kiss. He reached his hands down and grabbed her rear.
I internally shuttered and glanced up at the ceiling, waiting for the moment to be over.
"Let's do this!" Michael grabbed the two beer cases and we all went to the back patio to sit in the summer night air.
It was beautiful out around this time of the year. The breeze was warm and it smelled of Carmen's flower garden. The boys sat down on the bench near the pool and Carmen took her spot on Brody's lap; each of them with a beer in hand. I sat on the steps leading down to the yard.
To avoid the awkward tension between me and both of the jocks, I was glancing around the yard, staring at the treeline ahead of me. At one point, I thought I saw a glimmer of blue behind one of the trees, but I just figured it was the lights catching on one of Carmen's mother's wind chimes. That was until it started moving through the bushes, back farther into the woods.
Michael came and sat by me, and I awkwardly moved to the side, avoiding any contact with him. He chuckled and handed me an already opened, but full beer.
"Did you see that by chance?" I asked Michael, still staring into the woods.
"Not sure what you're talking about. Take this." He tried handing me the beer again.
I shook my head.
"Come on, Lucy. You know you want to."
"No. I don't. But I did tell Carmen I'm having one. So I will have this one and this one only, Michael." I grabbed it out of his hand, taking a sip.
The taste of the beer reminded me of bile; the bubbly crap you get at the back of your throat when you're about to puke. But I drank it anyway. Michael was still sitting by me by the time my beer was gone. I looked back at Carmen and Brody, and sure enough, they're sucking each other's faces off.
"So, why the whole goth look?" Michael attempted to make conversation with me.
"I really don't like being categorized. But if you must," I rolled my eyes looking at him, "it's what I'm comfortable in. I like this color. I like my clothes. And I don't care what you think or have to say, blockhead."
He laughed at my response, "You're cute when you're defensive."
"And you suck at being defensive, I went to some football games last year. Believe me, I saw." I stuck my tongue out laughing at my witty comeback.
"Ouch, my feelings." He grabbed his chest, scrunching up his face pretending to be hurt.
Just then everything seemed so... fuzzy. I remember talking to Carmen, what about I'm not sure. I remember asking Brody to talk in private, leaving Carmen and Michael on the patio.
The next thing I remember I was waking up naked in a guest room next to Michael.
"What the hell!?" I pushed his hand off of me, tumbling to the ground.
"Shh, let me sleep." He rolled over on the bed.
I was on the ground with the sheet wrapped around me, sitting up and staring at Michael. What the hell happened!?
I heard a vibration and realized it was my phone. Grabbing it I saw I had three texts, all from Brody. I opened the texts and gasped.
The first text was a picture of Brody and I kissing.
The second text read, Let the games begin. Can't wait for you to see this Lucy ;)
The third text read- I can keep a secret, as long as you can keep Michael happy.
What have I gotten myself into? What have I done!?
-Present Day-
And ever since then, I've been keeping my mouth completely shut. I haven't opened my legs to Michael since that night.
"Wanna help out me out then, Luce?" Michael grinned at me.
"No. Can we just watch this movie? I actually really want to watch it." I kept staring at the tv, though I'm sure my annoyed voice said it all for Michael.
"You've watched this movie so many times! Please baby!" Michael started unbuttoning his pants.
"No! I happen to like this movie, Michael. IT is a true classic. Now shut up before I shove it into a meat grinder."
After that, Michael got the point.
"Whatever Luce. I'll be at Brody's if you need me." He did his pants back up, grabbed his keys and left, slamming the door behind him.
"Perv. Can't believe I slept with him. Thank god it was just that one time." I looked out the window to the street below and watched his car back out. He looked very pissed, but that wasn't my problem.
As he left the road, I saw something blue in the bushes at the end of the street. This town was an okay size and it was surrounded by trees. Cool thing was, 30 minutes away was a large city, and that's where the family club got most of its business from.
Wait, that blue. I've seen that before. It was in a perfect shape with two black runny spots on either side. But where have I seen that before?
It was from the night that Cameron, Brody, and I drank. That was the blue that I saw in the bushes. I gasped and ran to the door, throwing on my shoes. It's time to see what the hell this is.
I haven't even thought about it since that night, but the color was just so pure, and at the same time, it gave me chills. Maybe my curiosity wasn't a good thing. Either way, I was going to find out.
