Enter: Death The Kid
Kids' POV
It was an absolutely normal day. I woke up, made an esthetically pleasing balanced breakfast, fixed all the asymmetrical paintings in my home, and went to school at precisely 8:08. Liz and Patty had skipped school in favor of a shopping spree and Black*Star and Tsubaki were on a mission for their 26th attempt on their first soul so it was just Soul, Maka, Ox, Kim, and Dr. Stein in the class along with me in the symmetrical absolute middle. I smiled, Soul and Maka were directly opposing Kim and Ox. It fit so perfectly together.
Stein was attempting to dissect Soul, convincing him that if he would just get on the table then it would make him 'cool', when a large cracked sound, like someone ripping a huge piece of paper boomed and suddenly, in front of the class, there was a girl. And Stein was gone. What?
Covered in what looked strikingly like blood, she looked awful. She was mumbling to herself and had her eyes shut tightly and her red covered hands clasped over her ears. We were all dead silent and wide eyed as we peered down at her pitiful figure, rocking back and forth slowly. It hurt me to see such a sad and broken soul inside her. What had happened to this girl? I grimaced and winced at the thought of what could have made her like this.
I nodded to Soul and he whispered to Maka to get the nurse we slid out of our seats as Ox And Kim guarded the door. Maka dashed from the room and Soul and I tiptoed over, I signaled for him to stop half way to her crouching body as to not scare her with 2 complete strangers. "Hey are you ok?" I reached and tapped her shoulder tenuously. "STOP PLEASE! IM SO SORRY!!So sorry! Don't hurt my anymore please ....." She hollered startling me. Even with her eyes closed, tears leaked out. Her soul spiked with fear and suspicion.
I looked at Soul who was just as surprised and I motioned back to him to come closer in case I needed back up, although I doubted I would. In her mental state she didn't seem to have the strength to get up.
I leaned down more and set my hand on her head gently, she tensed but then relaxed as I petted her hair down. I didn't really know why I did it, but it just came to me that I should sooth her and show that I was kind instead of making her more skittish. She loosened her hands on her ears very slowly as if she was afraid I would attack her quickly if she let her arms down. As if I would hurt a wounded and defenseless person, let alone a girl. I pulled her trembling hands away from her head and she fearfully complied, wincing at every little quick motion or slight change.
She curled her body even more if that was even possible. She was so terrified I was scared just looking at her soul. She peeked an eye open carefully and looked up at my worried face. I was worried for a complete stranger and a possible enemy, (however unlikely that she was) no doubt struck me as odd. Her eyes dilated and she backed up quickly gasping. Soul and I were crouched down trying to talk to her, but no words looked like they got through to her. Her head flicked around as she looked around shiftily, her head flitting quickly at any noise or outside motion. Everyone in the class was talking, shouting over one another to try to get to her. She embodied pure fear and confusion in her brown, hazel flecked eyes.
I motioned and hollered for them to shut up "You are scaring her! Soul, stop" I looked to her, she was hyperventilating, I had to calm her down or she would hurt herself " Hey, We won't hurt you. We are gentle, I promise, we can heal your wounds too" I was moving foreword and she try to move even farther back into the desk it seemed "Calm down, it will be okay" She was so hurt and lost in her heart it almost brought tears to my eyes. Almost.
"Breathe, you need to breathe" She couldn't catch a breath and was gulping like a fish for air. I tried to make my words soothe her but I zoomed foreword as her eyes started to slant as she slipped into unconsciousness. I grabbed her head in my hands and looked for signs of concussion, she was so fragile, glass to break if you even looked at it wrong. I couldn't tell if she had any head injuries, due to all the blood. Where could she go and get bathed in blood like this? She didn't have a violent or Kishin soul at all. Just an injured and hurt soul, but under all the fear and pain, there was a gentle love for all life, but a feisty rebellion at her core. Even sleeping, her soul didn't calm down at all, it even grew in pain and suspicion. I didn't understand how though. How can you get more pain to your soul when you aren't responsive to the world around you?
Maka dashed in, panting, with the nurse. Miss Medusa gasped at the sight, me in near tears from thinking on her soul so long and a girl covered in what I now confirmed blood and looking dead. "Follow me, she needs immediate attention" she said with a serious face. I picked the girl up bridal style, running full throttle, we got to the clinic in no time. "Set her on the bed; Nygus, I need you" Nurse started ordering Nygus to fetch the IV and bandages. Although I knew they would help her, I was unwilling to set her down. She was so afraid, I have to protect her, she needed someone to protect her fragile soul. I need to let her get healed though so I suppressed that unknown feeling and gently layed her down on the clothed bed.
"Kid, she is in critical condition, we don't even know what is wrong with her and we need to evaluate her health. I need you to get out. We will call you when we get her stable." I tried to argue but she practically shoved me out the door.
I stood in front of the slammed door and just blinked. I gazed down at my blood covered suit and especially my shaky hands. I sighed, straightened my suit and tie and walked backed to class. On the surface I was calm and collected but my soul was upset and thoroughly shaken, my thoughts raced now that she supposedly wasn't in immediate outside danger. Why was she here? What broke her like that? Who was she? Where had all that blood come from? I didn't understand her enigma at all.
But I was a shinigami, so I had to have to be in charge, have all the answers. so I pulled myself together, disguised my upset soul and stepped in the class, prepared for the questions I had few answers to.
Before I stepped in though, I noticed something odd. I hadn't thought about her obvious lack of symmetry once around her.
