Prologue
Shanti's P.O.V.
"Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh"
"What the-"
"Language Shannu!"
"You nearly scared me to death, dada!" (grandfather)
"Nevermind about that. What are you doing, my soon-to-be bride Shannu? You are not taking a rest?! You do know that you need to wake up at midnight, right?"
"Ads dekh rahi hu." ("I'm watching ads, grandpa.")
I replied while showing him what I was watching.
"You're really my Shannu," he said, patting my back and laughing at the insane ad.
"You know what, Shannu, we should have fixed that bulb on your matchmaking. I'm sure the groom would have fallen head over heels for you! No worries, it's never too late than never," he said, winking at me.
"Seriously dada? Anyways, please don't talk about tomorrow for now."
"Why Shannu, darling? Don't you like him? We'll cancel the wedding! If you want to be adventurous, no problem; you can run away. You know then I'll have a great tale to tell to my great-grandchildren. Or do you want me to make the groom run away? Tell me, Shannu, your wish will be granted. "
"That's what the problem is dada, you're not getting it. I'll miss my cool dada. Who'll cheer me on in your absence? I'm sure I'll miss your jokes, especially your affection, dada."
"Oh, my little princess! Worry not, your prince in shining armour will come to -"
"What? Protect me?" I cut him off with a scowl on my face.
"Nope, to come to fight along with you against life's challenges."
His words made me smile, but soon it was replaced by a frown of confusion.
"Why the frown, Shannu? Don't worry, tell me if the prince hurts my little princess, this king will punish him."
I'm really gonna miss him and his quirks.
"What if he is not the right guy for me, dada?"
"I don't know Shannu, but I'm sure that you both are perfectly imperfect together."
I gave him a bone-crushing hug. The thought that we're gonna soon be separated made the tears roll down that I've been controlling for days.
"I don't know dada," I replied, crying on his shoulder.
"You'll know it soon, my child..."
Little did I know what my coolest granddad in the world was about to do.
