Chapter 14 - F

I was so happy when I saw Ozzie, that I ran away from Marie and jumped on him. He heard me coming and turned around, so I wrapped my arms around his neck and purred into him. Ozzie wrapped his arms around me and chuckled, one of his large hands on my back and the other arm under my butt.

"Hey Fae," he said. I smiled into his neck, purring louder. My chest felt nice and warm inside when I saw him.

I felt his hand flatten on my back and I wrapped my legs around his waist when he moved his other arm to finish filling out the paper at the desk. I kept purring and laid my head on his shoulder; he still smelled like burnt wood, but I thought it was nice.

He put me down when he had finished the paper and I led him to Marie, introducing him to her. I liked Marie; she was really nice, and she gave me berries to eat as snacks.

When Marie suggested that we go outside, I grinned at Ozzie and ran up to my room when he agreed. I changed into my sweatpants and a long sleeved shirt, then grabbed my jacket and put my shoes on. I heard someone coming up the stairs as I was putting my jacket on, and Ozzie stopped in the doorway. I looked at him and smiled.

"Ready?" He smiled back at me. I hummed and nodded, walking over to him and holding my hand out to him automatically. I had gotten so used to holding Marie's hand when we walked through the center that I automatically went to hold his hand. I blushed when I realized this, but Ozzie didn't seem to mind, grabbing my hand when I extended it to him. I smiled a little bit when he did that, still blushing, but now I didn't know why.

Ozzie didn't seem to notice my blushing, gently leading me down the stairs again to the front door. He had to stop and fill out another paper before we left, but this time it didn't take as long. Once he had finished the paper he led me outside, holding our arms close to his body so I stayed close.

It was pretty windy and cold outside, as soon as we were outside my hair was blown into my face a bit, and we could see our breath. I put my other hand into my pocket and stayed closer to Ozzie so the hand that he was holding was warmed by our body heat. My hair was already braided a little bit, but the wind still blew it into my face. Ozzie noticed my hair being blown into my face and chuckled, taking his beanie off and stopping walking.

"Here," he stood in front of me and pushed my hair back from my face a bit, putting the hat on me so it held my hair away from my face. I closed my eyes and let him move my hair from my face, purring a little bit. His hands were kind of rough, but whenever his hands touched my face he was really gentle and stayed away from my eyes.

I smiled at him when I felt his hands leave my face, opening my eyes. "Thanks," I said. Ozzie smiled and grabbed my hand again, starting to walk again.

"I want to take you somewhere," he said. "Have you ever been to a cafe?"

I shook my head, looking up at his face while we walked.

"I think you'll like it," he said, smiling at me. "The place I want to show you has really good cinnamon buns."

I 'oo'ed when he said that. "Okay!" I've had a few cinnamon buns at the center and I really like them, so I was excited to go to this cafe thing and get one.

Fae was so fuckin' cute in my beanie and with his little purring noises, Jesus Christ. It took all of my self control not to kiss him.

His ears were pushed out to the sides a little bit with the hat, but he didn't seem to mind. His hair was so long that it went down to his calves, and it was very silky and glossy now that he's healthy. It wasn't quite white, but it was very pale blond. His fair porcelain-toned skin was clear, and his nose and cheeks were pink from the cold, as well as the tips of his ears. His eyes were a gorgeous shade of teal-turquoise.

His hands were much smaller than mine, so the hand I was holding was mostly just enveloped in my hand. I made sure I wasn't holding his hand too tightly, I didn't want to crush it. I also walked a little slower so that he could keep up. He was just smaller than me in general, honestly; he was at least a full foot shorter than me, which meant that his legs were shorter. Now that he wasn't wearing a hospital gown, I could see that his torso was slim, though he did have an hourglass figure as well, just a small one.

I led him to the cafe, listening to him purr softly as we walked and letting him use my body as a wind barrier. I asked him about how the center had been so far just to break the silence, and he spent the rest of the walk talking about it. That was better than the mostly silence, even if I do think his purring is adorable.

The cafe wasn't too far from the center, which is why I chose to go there. I also know that Fae likes sweets, and this cafe has very good pastries.

When we got there I pushed the door open, holding it for Fae to go in before me. He let go of my hand and took the other one out of his pocket, rubbing his hands together to warm them up again. I walked in behind him and led him to the counter to order. I got him a cinnamon roll and hot chocolate, and myself a black coffee, then sat down in a booth with him. He sat next to me in the booth, purring happily. I smiled at him, chuckling a little bit. I noticed that his ears were perked straight up now, instead of the usual relaxed position.

I tapped the tip of the ear closest to me, chuckling again when it twitched and he looked at me. "So how has it been?" I asked, wanting to break the silence.

Fae talked about what he had been doing at the center, and how he used to see Mrs. Bishop but now he sees Marie every day from nine AM to noon. I didn't ask what they talked about, that's his business, but I did ask if he knew why he switched. He said that he didn't, but before he could continue a waiter brought our drinks and his cinnamon roll over to the table.

I smiled a bit at Fae's reaction when he tasted the cinnamon roll, sipping from my coffee. After we had finished, I walked Fae back to the center and signed him back in, then told him that I had to leave. We had spent a couple hours out, it was getting dark already, and I had to present what I had found in the past month in the investigation, so I couldn't stay longer.

He pouted a little bit when I said that I had to leave, but I promised him that I would come see him again tomorrow and that cheered him up. I smiled a little to myself and watched him scamper up the stairs to his room once he had said goodbye before I left.
