Chapter 12 - F

I didn't want to leave the hospital; that meant that I wouldn't get to see Ozzie every day. I hoped that I'd be allowed to see him, but I had no idea how living at this new place would be. When I was at training school, they wouldn't let me outside at all, but sometimes they would let me mingle with other trainees for only an hour or so.

Ozzie had to leave an hour before I left, and he took me around with him to say goodbye to the other ex-slaves before he left. They would be leaving a little later than me, as they had some family in the area and needed to get permission from them.

The boy nurse that sometimes came with the doctor to see me gave me some clothes to put on and helped me get dressed and washed. The clothes felt a little loose on me, but then again I had also never worn something like this. He also helped me brush my hair, because I couldn't reach the bottom. He also showed me a better way to brush it all on my own.

I braided little bits of the front of my hair while I waited for the doctor to come after the boy nurse left. The doctor came after a bit and led me to the front of the hospital. There was a big car there, with a logo and some words on it, but I didn't care enough to read it.

The doctor got into the car with me, so I was more okay with getting in the car. When we got into the car there was a woman with grey hair there. Her face was wrinkled a little, but she didn't look ancient. She smiled in greeting at me, extending her hand and having me shake it.

"Hello Faervel," she said to me warmly. I smiled a little back when she said that; I could sense that she wasn't going to do anything to hurt me or anything. "I'm Mrs. Bishop, I'm going to be your resident therapist."

"She's going to help you get settled and make sure you're comfortable," the doctor said to me. I nodded at them; I was a little nervous. I wouldn't know anyone at the center. The car started driving when the doors were closed.

"Will I be able to see Ozzie?" I asked the doctor. He nodded, looking at Mrs. Bishop.

"Ozzie is someone investigating the club situation, he and Fae bonded when he was in the hospital." I heard the doctor explain to the lady before she talked to me.

"Yes, you will be able to see him," she said. "The first couple days though I want you to get comfortable first, okay? Maybe meet some of the other residents and get comfortable with them?"

I didn't want to have to wait to see Ozzie again, but I nodded to agree with her nonetheless. The doctor talked to me a bit more, saying that he will be coming to check on me once a week and to tell Mrs. Bishop if I need anything. When the car stopped, we were in front of a large building. It was several stories tall, and very long too. Mrs. Bishop and I got out of the car; the doctor didn't get out with us, and the car pulled away once we left.

I got nervous when I saw the building from outside the car, and Mrs. Bishop noticed, because she gently grabbed my hand and tugged me towards the building.

"It's alright Faervel," she said, starting to walk with me.  "Is there a nickname you would like me to call you?"

I could tell she was trying to distract me so I was less nervous by asking the question, but I obliged.

I shook my head when she asked if I had any nicknames. I liked when Ozzie and the nice man from the club had called me 'Fae', but I only wanted them to call me that. Mrs. Bishop nodded at me, still gently holding my hand. She led me into the building, walking with shorter strides so that she didn't get too far ahead of me. There were a few people in the room we walked into, and they turned to look at us when we walked in.

The room was very big, and the floor was shiny wood. The ceiling was tall, and there was a large light in the middle of the ceiling that lit up the whole room. The people that were there watched us walk through the room; a couple of them were sitting on a little bench, with a book between them, and a few more were just walking through with food trays.

"This is the entrance hall," Mrs. Bishop said. She led me through the big room to a hallway, with a bunch of rooms. "These rooms are where you will meet with someone to help you feel more comfortable here," she said. I looked at the rooms as we passed them; nobody was in any at the moment, as all the doors were cracked open.

She showed me around the building, telling me where things were. The cafeteria and common areas were on the bottom level, where the second and third levels were bedrooms and living spaces.

She showed me to my living area. "You're on level two, room four," she said. "You will have your own room, but if you press this red button—" she showed me a TV remote with a big red button on it, "someone will come here. If you hold it down that will tell us that something is wrong and someone will come as fast as possible."

I nodded at her again. I didn't feel like speaking, so I wasn't going to. I felt a bit better knowing that there would always be a way that I could get help. Mrs. Bishop then left me alone to get used to my room.

I looked around it, exploring a little. It was about as big as my hospital room had been, with a comfier bed and a big wooden dresser. There was a bathroom there too, and a closet. I didn't have anything to put in the closet or dresser though.

I went over to the bed and sat on it, purring and bouncing a little bit. It was really comfy, and squishy. I laid down and wiggled under the blanket that was on the bed, soon the warmth putting me to sleep.

I hoped that the next day maybe I would be able to see Ozzie again.

Next update will likely be a bit slower, I have finals this week and will not be writing as much.
