Chapter 8~ We Speak Italy

Tired was an understatement. I was exhausted both physically and mentally. As Ryan and I filled our empty bellies with the little money we had left, we decided to stroll out of the airport for some fresh air. We wanted to go exploring but we couldn't go anywhere because a) we had to wait for more information on our flight and b) we were broke.

I sat on a bench near the exit of the airport. A busy atmosphere, filled with people too and fro excited to be where they want. Filled with life. I thought that's what we were going to experience, smiles brighter than our futures, enjoying each other's company...each other's arms. Being away from home having just us two to trust. I couldn't even have that.

I look up as Ryan's figure shadows the sun from warming my skin. He slowly sits next to me and I could just feel the guilt radiating from him.

"Ryan..." I speak up to him, "can you answer one question for me?"

His big, beautiful eyes met mine, he didn't have to verbally reply because his eyes said it all.

"Are we going to be okay?" I finished, with a slight struggle in my tone.

Ryan placed his fingertips on either side of my cheeks and made me look at him. He held his gaze so strong I was about to break down.

"Alexis...of course we're going to be okay. It's us, Muffin and Einstein".

"More like dumb and dumber" I breathe out, wiping the tear that managed to leave my eye.

Ryan's low chuckle brought my spirits up a little, that was until he pressed his sweet lips on mine. Pulling me closer to him and making sure that not even the sun of Dubai could get in the way. He kissed me, hard. And I loved it. It was so comforting and exactly what I needed.

As he pulled away, he kept little distance between our faces and kept his hands secured by my cheeks. "We are going to be so, so fine Muffin. I love you".

My body softened in his touch and melted at his words. "I love you".

Ryan and I walked hand in hand back into the main chaos of the airport. The flight schedules flashed across a huge wall and Ryan and I tried to look for any information on our flight. I scanned each column until my eyes recognised the number EY85, I shifted my gaze to the end of the row and it said, "delayed by 4 hours". Thank the gods from above. I let out a deep breath and led Ryan to our allocated gate, approaching what looked like to be an air hostess.

"Hi, just wondering that flight EY85 is back up on the schedule and departing in four hours?" I ask her.

She smiled kindly and nodded, "Yes indeed" she replied with her thick, yet gorgeous accent.

"Thank goodness" Ryan breathes out in relief. "I never thought I'd say it, but good god I need a coffee". My face broke out into the biggest smile and I hooked my arm in his, leading him to the complimentary kitchen section.

I dispensed the coffee in two paper cups and grabbed two cookies. Not my idea of a perfect cappuccino but it'll do. I handed one of each to Ryan. We sat in the waiting area for almost two hours just chatting about the flight, Italy and what was next for us. It should've made me scared, and I should be angry with most of the world. But I had my moment, so it's now time to deal with it.

"I know one good thing about Italy," I say.

"Mm, and what's that Muffin?"

"We speak it," I say happily with a nudge of the shoulder. Taking me back to when I Ryan and I would bond over our favourite language.

"We speak Italy?" he asks jokingly.

"Ha ha you're hilarious"

"I know" he grins and kisses my forehead. And then a familiar ringing sound blared from Ryan's pocket. I had totally forgotten that he had the international phone with him. He stood up and answered the phone. As soon as he put the phone to his ear his jaw clenched immediately. He faced me with worried eyes and without a second thought, I jumped right up next to him.

'Put it on speaker' I mouth to him. He doesn't fight and does what I say.

"Be careful Ryan" a deep, distorted voice spoke through the phone, "Kayla and Josh may have been stupid enough to run away, but you'd be even more stupid to run towards us"

"Don't touch them" he threatened.

"Why shouldn't I? They lied. Matter of fact, so did you...did you actually think that disappearing act would work on us? Pathetic. And now you have to pay...bring her to us".

"No, there are other ways to settle this, just let me speak to Mic-"

"Don't you dare Ryan. He wants her here. If she isn't here in 3 days well then, we'll send you whatever is left of your friends".

And then the call ended.

I stood there, cold and not knowing where else to look but the now black screen of the phone.

"Alexis..."

Disappearing act? My dad? Ryan?...Me?

It all made sense. Well shit.

"Ryan, are you telling me that when your sister and Leni's crew helped you get out of that...messy stuff..." I swallowed and then continued, "t-that messy stuff was involved with my dad?...a-and it didn't convince him b-because he knows you're still with me? You've been at war with my dad and I didn't even know it. And now they know that you're still walking the planet...because I'm still with you. Correct me if my wrong" My shaky voice didn't help with trying to hide my fear of what I knew was going to happen.

My dad had Kayla and Josh, Ryan was after them, my dad is after Ryan and I'm the only one who can stop this from turning into world war three.

Woopty fucking do. What a holiday.

I'm so glad this part was revealed! Also, for those asking this sequel isn't going to be as long as the first book, probably around half the amount. It's just a short, fun and exciting story that I wanted to continue Alexis and Ryan's journey with you all.

I have some really exciting news about a new book I'm planning!! WHEWWW

And lastly, I'm hoping to do a double update of this book soon!

Love you all! As always...
