| Chapter 28: The Future.|

My eyes wouldn't open, and I struggled against what sounded like chains as a cascade of screams around me insinuated that I was in a state of unending, agonizing torment.

I felt sweat dripping off every inch of me, and sudden bursts of heat came and went, implying that there were fiery abyss' surrounding me.

"HELP!" I screamed, feeling my throat crack - but the echos of my voice just made the screams in the distance get louder and more frequent. "GOD...." I gasped, still not able to open my eyes, and really not able to move other than struggle, and a real panic began to set in.

Only to be short lived when - through my eyelids, there was an eruption that echoed around me and a bright light almost seemed to burn my eyelids.

"What's happening?!" I screamed, feeling the tears streaming down my cheeks.

*

My eyes fluttered open to the white LED light stretching down the length of my hosptial room. I blinked a few times allowing the light bulb to come into focus, and the sudden full focus of the LED light made me flench.

In doing so, my hand tightened around a hand to my right, causing me look over and felt tears swelling up in my eyes again as they lifted their head in a rush and my eyes collided with Deans.

"Dani! Baby!" He gasped, waking up the rest of the room as he rose out of his chair - and it landing on it's back inthe floor - and embraced me. "Jesus - I thought I lost you."

"I thought you did too." I smirked, making chuckle as Sam and Sierra were the next two faces that appeared near my bed. I gasped, weakly, "Sierra!"

"You dumb, Bitch!" she scolded, shoving past Sam and embracing me tightly, if not tighter than Dean.

"Go get the nurse!" Sam waved at Dean, who was too preoccupied with pretending he had something in his eye to respond right away.

"You're not supposed to go alone." Sierra whimpered into my hospital goan. "You're so fucking stupid," she sobbed into my neck as I felt tears streaming down my face as well. "I thought I was an orphan and an old child."

"Shut up." I giggled, finally pulling away from her grip and we both chuckled as we wiped tears off the other's cheek.

"Did you at least kick her ass?" Sam asked, replacing Dean on the other side of the bed.

"I took her with me." I smirked, as Sam leaned over and embraced me too. "Where's Ben?"

"Believe it or not," sighed Sierra, glancing at Sam. "Boris brought him home."

"Boris?" I growled, glaring around the room. "Where is that son of a -?"

"- so you shot him." nodded Sierra. "That makes sense. He was with LIlith Dani...he was trying to have your back."

"Right." I scolded suspicously as a nurse and Dean entered the room.

"Holy shit - I mean..." the Nurse trailed off looking at my chart. "...there's no possible way you're alive." and with that she disappeared right back out of the room, assumingly to get a doctor.

"Dani..." Dean's voice was low and soft.

It was home.

"...you have a visitor." His voice soothed me as he moved out of the way of the doorway, revealing Ben.

"Ben?!" I gasped, as the boy barrelled past Dean and Sam and rammed into my hug. "Thank God you're okay!"

He pulled away, looking offended as he said, "No, I'm thanking you...God had nothing to do with it."

I snorted, pulling him into another hug.

"Ben, that's enough." barked Lisa from behind Dean. "Can we talk...?" she asked, glancing from Ben to Dean. "Ben!"

"Can I have five more minutes?" Ben whined, as Lisa rolled her eyes and opend her mouth to speak, only for Dean to interject and gently lead her out of the room. Ben giggled as he climbed onto the bed and sat next to Sierra. "How was Heaven?"

"H-Heaven?" I asked, confused.

Sierra's smile faded as she and I exchanged knowing looks.

"It was...dark." I smirked, deciding to be honest with the kid, but not tell the whole truth.

"Dark? I thought Heaven was in the sky..." Ben trailed off, beginning to fidget with my hosptial band.

"...it is," I nodded, thinking quick. "I was just up there, at night."

"Oh." Ben nodded, slowly as I unbutton my band and passed it to him. "I did what you said."

"You did?" I asked, as Sierra ruffled his hair and mouthed to me she was going to get coffee as Sam stood up the chair Dean kicked back and dropped into it. "What did you do?"

"I stayed in teh car until someone I knew came to get me." Ben beamed.

"Good, and was it -?" I started, but Ben interjected.

"- Boris." He nodded, without making eye contact as he played with the band even more distractingly.

"Boris." I repeated, glancing at Sam who just shrugged.

"...you said it was me!" came Lisa's voice echoing from the the hall.

"It was." Dean's voice came back in that low rumble way it does. "It's her now."

"Ben, let's go." growled Lisa, gesturiing for Ben to come to her, and as Ben frowned at his Mother and attempted to give back my hostpial band, I refused it and let him take it with him as Dean shoved past Lisa as she muttered, "Good to know you're well." before exiting out of sight.

"Can I have a minute?" asked Dean, looking at Sam who just looked between us and then rose to exit the room and pulled the door shut behind him.

"What was that about?" I gestured to the closed door, implying Lisa's yelling.

"She's upset that she's not the one anymore." Dean stated, plainly and seirously. "Dani, you've been nothing but the sexiest light, posi -" He paused, grumbling to himself. "- hold on." He closed his eyes, centering himself.

I rose an eyebrow at his demeanor.

"Are you alright?" I asked, as Dean held a hand up for me to hold on, only for him to raise his head and say, as if he had rehearsed it:

"With this ring, I promise to cherish you, not just today, but for every tomorrow to come." He started, pulling out the cutest ring with a golden band. It sparkled up at me as he continued, "This is a symbol of our commitment, a testment to the incredible journey that we have shared, and will share."

"Dean..." I whispered, beaming down at the ring then up at him.

"A glimpse into the future, which I would prefer to spend with you. Wear this," He smiled, picking up my hand and sliding it onto my left ring finger. "as a reminder that my heart belongs to you and that I will always be here for you. To take care of you and love you unconditionally."

My jaw hung.

"You said -" I started, as he leaned in, pulling my head in as well, and pressing his lips against mine. I was so starstruck that I barley kissed back.

"- I love you, Dani." Dean whipsered, pressing his forehead agianst mine. "I should have told you before, but after this..." He sighed, leaning back and watching me beam down at the ring. "...after almost losing you...I realized that it's you, it's always been you."

"Dean..." I whimpered, speechless for a few moments. "...you didn't have to do all this..."

"...yes, I did." Dean smiled, licking his lips and frowning at my brusied faced. "We've both been to Hell and back...and that's the type of woman I need in my life. The type of woman I fell in love with before she - well - died."

I giggled, wiggling my finger and watching the jewels sparkle up to me. He reached over and took my hand, pressing his lips againt my knuckle. I pulled him by his collar and kissed him again, nibbling on his bottom lip.

"We're in a Hospital." He giggled, whispering between kisses.

"I don't care," I smirked, pulling away. "I don't care where we are, what we're doing or how old we are, you're it. I love you Dean Winchester." He leaned in as a response and kissed me, again, ever so gently.

Only for the moment to be cut short by a knock on the door.

We both looked over to see Azreal, Rapheal, Sierra, Sam and Bobby crowd into the room, I grinned at the coffee, ballons and flowers as Dean rose and greeted Azreal and Rapheal with a hand shake and pulled Bobby into a hug.

"Look at you kid," smiled Bobby, moving past Dean as he started talking to Sam. "you gave us quite the scare." He giggled, leaning over and pulling me into a hug. "How are you feeling?"

"Bruised." I stated, short, with a nodd as we both giggled at my simplistic response.

"I'm sorry you had to find out about me through -" started Bobby, gesturing over to Rapheal, who was now standing on the other side of the bed.

"- No." I smirked, pressing my hand against Bobby's mouth. "It's okay."

"You took off the necklace," smirked Rapheal, holding the same necklace up and clasping it around my neck agian. "don't do that."

"Good Fatherly advice." I grinned up at him as he grinned back down.

"I'm new at this." Rapheal sighed as Bobby patted his shoulder.

"It takes time man." Bobby smiled from Rapheal to me. "I'm just glad we have that time now."

I felt more tears swelling up in my eyes as I pulled Bobby into a hug, only for Rapheal to dramatically snatch my hand and examin the ring Dean gave me.

"Is this -?" started Rapheal as Dean immediately interjected.

"- a Promise ring." He proudly declared as Sam's face slightly fell, but he smiled once we made eye contact. "Just a promise ring, for now."

"We all know how you can be man." smirked Bobby, standing up and pulling Dean into another hug. "Good for you! You really know how to pick them."

I grinned around the room, and suddenly felt my smile fade at the realization that this may not be real. This may be another hallucination from Hell, but I decided to sit in it anyway.

I sipped on my coffee as the room started giving Dean shit for having feelings.

*

I awoke hours later to see Dean asleep in the chair that sat next to the bed to my right. Sam was asleep in the chair to my left and Sierra was asleep on the couch across the room. I looked around, quietly, at the slumbering family that I had now.

"Sir..." came a muffled whisper from outside the hospital room, which was open to the doctors, so the door was wide open. "...sir it's only family!"

"I am Family." came a male voice as I sat up off the flattened pillows to easedrop better. "Move the hell out of my way -"

"- Sir -"

There was a sudden choking sound before a solid thud.

My heart dropped as I heard foosteps approaching my door, I moved to try and wake up Sam or Dean, but whoever it was, was already standing in the doorway.

"No need to wake them, I'm here for you." smirked the man as I looked up and made eye contact with the silhouette with nothing visable but yellow eyes.
