You Aren't our Knight

⚠️Warning⚠️ I- just- Look, this is a rough chapter. (There is some inappropriate language used in the story -Lo) I'm allowed to curse!

   Logan was doing better. He was settled into his life. He and Patton had a life now, out in the woods, on their own. So, who the hell was knocking at their door? It's not like it was an ungodly hour of the night. Just who drove hours to see Logan, unprompted?

   Logan and Patton were in the kitchen, they were making lunch. As the two waited for the toaster to pop, Logan tapped his fingers on the lid of his (crofters) jam, and Patton hovered over a counter. He was giggling over a joke he made as Logan tried to hide his smile, then there came knocking from the front door. The two looked at each other before Logan put the jar down and made his way to the door.

   He didn't look through the peephole and just swung it open. He wished he had looked through the peephole.

   "Hey Logan. How are you?"

   Roman. Roman stood at Logan's door. His face dropped as he looked at him. Patton poked his head out of the kitchen to see who was at the door. He gave a questioning smile and floated over to his partner.

   "Who's this?" Patton tilted his head as he looked the tanned man over.

   "Roman." Logan grumbled. He pulled his shoulders back to look Roman in the eye. "How did you find my address?"

   Roman laughed and pushed Logan aside to walk into the house. He stepped right through Patton and shivered. "I got your address from your mom, she was worried and sent me down to check on you!" Roman spoke, his voice echoing through the house. "Y'know, no one has heard from you in, like, a year and a half, at all. Most people thought you were dead."

     A year and a half? Logan had stopped keeping a journal awhile back, and had never even gone to the post office for any mail he may have gotten from family and friends. He could only stare at Roman, in a state of shock. Patton floated behind him muttering things. Logan didn't hear them.

   Logan! Shut the fucking door, and get the man some food. Or, get him out of our house!

   Logan heard that. "Oh, yeah!" he muttered and turned around to close the door. He wasn't going to be rude to Roman but he did want him gone as quickly as possible. When he turned around again he had his question formed, "So, you know I'm not dead. Anything else I can do for you?"

   The twenty five year old stopped looking around to look back at the older man before him, "Well, those sandwiches smell pretty good!"

~~~~~
   Logan had made two more sandwiches and he and Roman now sat at the table. His eyes still looked over the house and Logan, never even seeing Patton. He was floating next to Roman, studying him. Logan cleared his throat and Roman's eyes shot back to him, Patton looked his way too.
   "So, how are things for you. Without- um..." Logan trailed off towards the end, looking away from Roman.
   Roman's eyes went down to his sandwich as he picked it up. "Well, it's strange still, but people no longer blame me. They've started to think you did it because you ran away," Logan stared in shock at Roman, "I don't! You would never kill him. If you would have killed anyone it would have been me. Please don't by the way." Roman ended trying to joke it off, it didn't help.
   Logan looked at Patton who had taken to trying to sit in the seat next to Roman. He turned to Logan and smiled, he was trying not to make any noise just in case Roman heard him. Patton seemed awkward sitting in the chair. It was like he wanted to hold something, hold Logan, but couldn't because of Roman. Patton shifted to look at Roman again, who seemed to be looking at Patton's chair and behind it.
   "What are you looking at Logan?" Roman chuckled. Maybe Logan shouldn't stare at someone who is invisible.
   Logan sighed and got up, "Well it's getting late now and you've wasted enough of my time. You should go."
Roman looked hurt, "Well I couldn't leave now. There are wolves and bears out there, what if they get me on the way home?"
"You and your crazy imagination. You won't die."
"But like you said it's late. It's not safe at night, plus the asylum is only a few miles away!"
Why don't you let him stay the night? It will do you both some good.
Logan gave Patton a look saying, Are you crazy?! No way am I going to let him stay the night! He is leaving right now!
Come on Logan have a heart.
"Hello?" Roman waved his hand in front of Logan's face, "Earth to Logan!"
He swatted Roman's hand out of his face and glared at him, "You can stay the night."
"Oh thank you dear brother in law! We shall have the best night you and I!"
~~~~~

   Roman was curled up on the couch as Logan paced his room. Sitting on his bed, trying to calm him down, was Patton.

   "Well, he'll be leaving in the morning, so if we go to sleep we can get him out of here tomorrow and-"

   "Patton! Love, I need you to understand that I haven't had a proper conversation with anyone since returning the U-haul. Last time I talked to Roman I insulted him by saying my brother made a bad choice marrying him! At my brother's funeral!" Logan was whisper yelling as Patton tried to figure out what a U-haul was.

   "Okay, just come sit down," Patton had given up trying to figure out what whatever a U-haul was and was just trying to get his boyfriend to sit down, "I need you to talk to me."

   Logan stopped his pacing and walked over to Patton, who pulled him down to the bed. After intertwining their hands, Patton started his questions. They often did this when Logan was panicking.

   "Why are you scared of Roman?"

   "Many reasons... but I can't think of any..."

   "Alright. What do you know about Roman?"

   "He is a fashion designer, running his own business with his friend, Remy. He often made custom clothes for Virgil, like jackets. His favorite color is red and he loves Disney and him and Virgil's date were mostly Disney marathons. He-"

   "Alright, what annoys you about Roman?"

   "He's cocky and overconfident. He acts like there's a happy ending to everything and that he is the hero in the story. Everyone else is a villain, supporting cast, or the love interest, Virgil. He doesn't seem to understand that the world doesn't revolve around him."

   "Okay, so wh-" Patton stopped talking and stared at the doorway behind Logan. Logan turned to look at the door, only to see it cracked open and a pair of garnet eyes looking in. Logan shot up from his seat and ran towards the door yanking it open.

   Roman flew backwards and sat looking up at a terrified Logan. In his eyes was fear but his body lurched like it was going to hit Roman.

   Quickly, Roman pushed off the floor and stumbled to stand, then he yelled, "Who were you talking to?!"

   "No one! Roman get out of my house!" Logan was trying to hold back tears as he was slowly backed up into the wall. Although, he was yelling too.

   "No one? Then what the fuck where you talking to? About me!" Roman towered over Logan as the black haired man crumpled to the floor.

   "Nothing! It was nothing!" Logan was crying now, hands up like Roman would hit him.

   "Nothing? So, you're crazy?" Roman kept yelling like he didn't see what was happening to Logan. Like he didn't know it was a panic attack. Like he didn't marry Virgil. "You're insane, huh? Crazy? Did you do it? Did you kill him and that's why you're out here? To avoid the consequences? Is the guilt killing you? Is that it?"

   Logan couldn't breathe. He wished that Roman would just hit him and stop yelling. He couldn't even deny it, he couldn't speak. Patton couldn't do anything, he was floating around Roman, just trying to stop him. Roman didn't feel anything.

   "You're fucking insane." Roman scoffed. He stopped yelling and picked Logan up by the collar. He struggled but Roman didn't let go of him.

   Logan was pulled out to Roman's car and locked in the back seat. He went back inside, grabbed the house keys and turned off the lights. When he came back to the car he said one thing to the disheveled Logan.

   "I'm getting you help."
