Kings and Their People

    "Patton?" Remus turned and looked at Logan. "A person? Is that it?"

   "Kinda? I need to get back to my house more than anything." Now that Patton was a part of the equation Logan became nervous.

   "Getting you somewhere? Oh, I can do that with my eyes closed." Remus cackled. "Where's your house?"

   "Around fifteen miles from here." Remus furrowed his eyebrows.

   "Fifteen miles? Nothing is fifteen miles from here."

   "I live in the woods."

   "Well that makes this a bit more difficult, huh?" Remus flopped back onto his bed. "This could take awhile."

~~~~~~~
   Logan spent months at the asylum plotting his escape with Remus's help. He got used to the people, even befriended some. He'd spend his days in the "play" room or with Emile, who he'd often poke fun at. When in his room he'd discuss plans of escape with Remus. There'd be times when he'd hear Patton. Always little things, like singing or cooing at an animal outside.
   He now sat in the cafeteria listening to Remus talk to someone called Richard Brook, though he often heard the staff call him James.
   "I'm just saying, Dick. Sexy is overused and so uncreative," Remus planted his hands on the table like he was making a point.
   "Oh? Like your names work any better?" Richard turned and looked at Logan. "Have his worked on you, Doc?"
   Logan opened his mouth to speak, only for someone to interrupt him, "Why use any popular name when you can make your own?"
   "Oh yes, of course, Ricky, because everyone has a name that can be a reference." Remus scoffed "Tinman is a great nickname though."
   "Wasn't 'Tinman' the detective on your case?" Richard asked. Ricky nodded with a smile. "Ah, wish I gave mine a nickname like that. Don't get me wrong, 'The Virgin' was a fun one."
"I believe Ricky actually killed 'Tinman', so he's doing better than you there as well," Logan smirked at the mock offense on Richard's face, and the laughter of the other two.
   "I didn't think you could roast, Doc!" Remus said through his laughter.
   "I'm smart, not uncultured, Rat."
   Remus gasped, "I get a nickname!?" Remus sang as he tackled Logan in a hug.
   "It was meant to be an insult," Logan muttered.
   "You should know him better than that," Ricky laughed, "You're the one who hears his midnight rants."
   "In my defense, I tend to ignore him."
   "Rude!" Remus gasped.
   "Oh, fuck off trash man."
~~~~~~~

   The keys rattled in the door accompanied by Roman's muffled voice. The door swung open to reveal a chatty Roman and a much shorter man in a hat. His skin, from what I could see, was patchy. Mostly white with half of his face burned black. My eyes were drawn to the golden locket around his neck. I hated it.

   "Well, Janus, would you like a tour?" Roman spoke, I saw his eyes dart to the locket too.

   "No... I think I'll look around on my own...," Janus muttered, unmatched eyes darting around the room.

   "Alright, tell me if ya have any questions," Roman said cheerily, going into the kitchen.

   I watched as Janus looked around the house. He went in and out of rooms carelessly, like he was looking for something. He stopped for a second at Logan's room, eyes glossing over it before going in. I landed in the doorway to figure out what he was doing. He was staring down the corner behind Logan's chair. The corner where my bed used to be. When he turned around he froze.

   "Bingo."

~~~~~~~
   Logan shot from his bed. He had almost dozed off while Remus talked. Remus was now quiet, looking at Logan with great concern. Logan put a hand to his head and rubbed his eyes, the other reaching out limply for his glasses. Only to find Remus's hand instead.
   "Are you okay, love?" Remus asked, squeezing his hand.
   Logan ripped his hand away and scoffed. He pulled his knees to his chest, he was shaking. In only a second Remus had moved onto Logan's bed, pulling Logan into his chest. After a few seconds of fighting against it, Logan gave in and put his head on Remus's shoulder.
   "I'll ask again," Remus spoke slowly, "Are you okay?"
   Logan shook his head and groaned at his forming headache.
   "Can I do anything to help?"  Remus's voice was soft, full of concern.
   Logan didn't say anything for a second, he really couldn't. When he was finally able to speak he said what he needed, nothing more.
   "I need to get home, now."
