Peter had you sit at his side at the large dinner table, your nerves still completely haywire. Just glancing upright you could see Steve Rogers, the Captain America was sitting right before you looking down at a display of  sheets, and sitting opposite him was Bruce Banner, the genius scientist. You were sitting at a table with some of New Yorks most respected super hero's, not to mention Peter, the youngest of them all. And yet all the more powerful.

Peter squeezed your hand gently as if signalling to let go. You'd had his palm captured in yours for around ten minutes now and it was beginning to sweat. You looked over at him apologetically, to which he reached over and gave you a light peck on the lips.

"So," Tony's voice cleared the air making you jump as he placed your plates down on the table, "how did you two meet?"

The fact that he had started with such a question made your stomach tighten. You and Peter hadn't exactly started with a... Normal friendship.

"We met through some friends," Peter chirped, digging into his breakfast, "was it sophomore or senior year?"

"Uh, Sophomore" you smiled. Luckily Peter was playing this off a lot cooler than you were, which gave you only slight confidence to speak up a little. Of course, the majority of what you were saying was a lie, you and Peter had actually met in kindergarten, which now you weren't sure if lying was just overcomplicating things. "We were buddies in chemistry"

"Certainly nailed that subject then" Steve chuckled, looking up from his papers, "you two got to good"

A blush rose to your cheeks, swallowing feeling your lips turning dry. You decided to distract yourself with the food sitting in front of you. Peter and Tony had continued talking for a while, while you sat in silence and stared down at your plate. Admittedly you felt a little out of place, you weren't really adapted to join the conversation, as it had led into the works of the Avengers and all things you didn't really understand.

You couldn't complain though. You liked sitting and listening in, you didn't need to contribute. Peter was happy with you by his side no matter what.

Once breakfast was over, Banner and Rogers had left the table, leaving just you, Peter and Tony sitting, adding bits and pieces into the conversation. Tony had shown you a side that you certainly hadn't expected. He was much more laid back than what the press had accentuated. You also saw the vulnerable soft side he had for Peter. The way he looked at him, it was like he knew Peter from top to bottom, could read him like a book.

"Oh, while we're not doing anything important, I need to show you something" Tony nudged Peter lightly on the shoulder, pushing his chair back and standing up at the table, "feel free to join us Y/N, I might need a ladies opinion" he smiled, gesturing towards the hallway.

Peter looked over at you, and you at him before back to Tony. Quickly, you both stood, jogging after the billionaire like two lost puppies down the long hallway and towards the lab. To Peter this all seemed a little surreal, having the woman he loved by his side in the world that had changed his life completely. He could say without hesitation that he was excited for you to come into the limelight of the superhero world he lived in.

Tony scanned his card along the reader as you approached the door, watching with wide eyes as it slid open and you were welcomed into the confusing and vast room filled with all kinds of mad machinery and super hero suits. You saw numerous pieces of what you presumed was Tony's old suits and a shield that belonged to Captain America. But, you wondered straight past those parts, and around to the back of the lab.

It was rather dark, to which you hung on Peter as you passed some more machines and made it to the back of the lab. There, standing in a beaming spotlight was a suit that was the same as Peter's. But it was as black as night...

"So, myself and Banner have been doing some adaptations to your suit, I figured it was the right time for you to see it before we add some final touches" Tony smiled, reaching over and opening the door to the glass chamber it was being kept it. You watched from afar as he stepped inside, eyes wide and mouth slack.

"Is it... Moving... Or is that just my eyes?"

"Ah, yeah, about that," Tony looked up, "the suit's made from a shell of carbon fibre, but the skin on the outside if a new life form that we discovered some months back" he smiled rather proudly, pulling up a display screen, "we call it a symbiote"

"Huh..." Peter mumbled, running his hand along the skin of the suit. It felt much like human skin, but it was stone cold and a little sticky. "That's awesome" he grinned, looking up and scanning the entire suit. "Y/N come take a look at this" he turned around to look at you. You looked over at Tony for confirmation, who was smiling at you with a gentle nod. Swallowing, you opened the glass door and made your way over to Peter.

"Can I try it out?" Peter asked, turning his hand away from the suit to look over at Tony.

"I would kid but there are a few touches that need adjusting before we can allow you inside the suit. We've been having some... Technical difficulties..." Tony sighed, tucking his hands into his jean pockets.

"Oh... What kind?" He asked back. Meanwhile, you were completely mesmerised by the art of technology that sat in front of you. It was beautiful. The skin of the suit was moving like the ripples on a river, and rather soft too. You watched the way it flinched when you moved your hand over the leg and along the arm.

"The suit had a tendency to... React in a certain way that can be deemed as dangerous. Because the skin is a new life form we don't know how to control it yet, so letting you inside... If the symbiote was to find its strengths again we might not be able to get you out"

That sounded pretty serious. So much so that it made you uncomfortable, tugging your hand away from the suit.

"Gee that is kinda scary..." Peter sighed, backing away. "What kind of seduction are you using?"

While Tony and Peter trailed off into a conversation, you stood completely mesmerised by the pattern of the suit. Although it was deemed unsafe, it looked so stunning. You'd never seen nor met something such as a symbiote, but it was rather beautiful. Tilting your head you saw your own reflection in the skin of the black inky texture, gently bringing up your hand to press your fingertips to the surface.

What you weren't expecting was for it to move.

Not only did it move, but it detached, an arm like figure wrapping itself tightly around your wrist. It was stone cold and it's grip was hard, held fast and tight. It felt like it was biting you, gnawing down on your skin, loosing breath in your lungs.

"Uh, guys!" You swallowed, trying move your fingers which only made the symbiote grip harder, a groan leaving your lips. Peter and Tony where on you in seconds, panic beginning to settle in.

"Mr Stark, what's happening?" Before Peter could reach you, Tony's arm blocked the way, stopping him from going any further.

"Kid... Stay still" Tony ordered firmly get calmly, keeping his distance away from you.

"Mr Stark what's it doing?"

Tony has no idea. This wasn't what was supposed to happen, but then again, there wasn't exactly a rule book.

"Mr Stark-!"

"I don't know, kid! Just- shut up!" He ordered, scanning up and down the body of the suit before looking over at your own, beginning to blemish and bruise under the grip of the liquid life form.

"Okay... Uh, just stay still. The more you move the harder that things gonna grip" he swallowed, edging his way around to your side, "you gotta do as I say, okay?"

You nodded, trying to calm your pounding heart as Tony's hand slowly began to lift, about to place itself on your arm. But, someone saw it coming before the three of you.

In a split second Tony was off his feet, the life form taking charge, sprouting out yet another limb and sealing itself around Tony, a tight firm grip before letting go, flinging him across the room. Lights flickered and sparks flew as his body crashed into one of the power boxes.

"Peter get out of here!" You groaned, the black creature slowly winding its way further up your arm.

"No way, I'm not leaving y-" it wasn't a second later before Peter was gone too, slammed to the side, his back pulverising the glass barrier making you cry out in fear as he collapsed to the floor.

Your body was beginning to burn now, the liquid life form sinking it's way under your skin making your stomach churn. It's limbs sealed themselves around you, completely consuming you, feeding into every gap they found. It spread you open like a book, sinking down the back of your throat, between your teeth and over your tongue like some kind of disease and it terrified you. Was this it?

You could feel the cold between your lungs, squeezing your stomach and tangling around your rib cage like a web. It was consuming you from the inside out, slipping from the suit and into a body of its own.

Peter had taken a pretty hard hit, but his mind was fighting back. You were in danger, and that thought alone set his body on override. He wasn't going to lose you. Not again.

He could feel the blood pouring from his lip, the glass shards in his back from the container but he wasn't giving up. As soon as he was on his feet he knew he'd be able to help you.

But it was getting up that was the issue.

Peter felt completely paralysed. He was numb everywhere, he couldn't feel a thing accent the burning in his mind that was screaming for him to get up. Man up. His other half was in danger and he couldn't do anything about it.

Tilting his head slightly he caught just a glimpse, a second shadow of your body being consumed by that called a symbiote. It looked as thought it was eating you alive, and he could see you suffocating.

"No! Stop!" Peter whimpered, tears beginning to sting at the lids of his eyes, "Y/N NO!"

His hands were reaching out but you were too far. He was lying on a glass bed while you were miles away, in so much pain... and there was nothing he could do.

The second he thought it was all fine... The moment he thought he was safe it all just had to come crashing down again. Why couldn't he choose to love someone and let them be safe?

"No.. No, please! C'mon get up!" Peter sobbed, wheeling tears of pure blood and pain on the floor. "GET UP!" He yelled, mouth dry as his face contorted, loud sobs leaving his lips. He was deemed useless.

Peter was pouring out form corners he didn't even know existed. There were wounds so deep he knew they'd never heal, and the more he move the wider they gaped. He was lying in a pool of his own blood.

It was silent for a second, the lights in the room fading out, just one... coming from the open doorway. He saw figures of few, hands that were soft and voices. Then he knew he was safe.

Whether he survived or not he wasn't sure. But if you were gone he wasn't willing to fight.
