Patience again

I'm sleeping. Eyes closed, dreams forming. Sweet dreams by the way. Sweet pretty donkey_ donkey dreams.
"I'm not going anywhere. Leave me a-l-o-n-e." Someone cries outside.
It has to be Carol. It just has to.

*Goddamn*

I open the door, teeth gritted.
"Surprise bastard. Thought I was getting f_d." Her snarl is just ....*God damnit*

"What? Get out of my way, brother."
She says brother the way a thief says 'idiot' after BLA BLA BLA. It's ....*Goddamnit* annoying.
"Just so you know, mom is out. I'm going out. So behave yourself for once."
Her pink dress folds into a fight stance, "Yes, daddy. I'm gonna behave."
"You know being sarcastic in everything gets boring over time."
"And you also know acting like you're some grown up asshole doesn't help that much."
My ears. Did I? Ass what?
"I'm telling mom about this. You're getting grounded."
For once I think she's going to snap.
"I didn't mean to. Come on Kevin. You swear all the time. It's not fair."
"But never to you or anyone in particular."
I see her worry. She's in fright.
"Alright alrighty. I won't tell mom. You happy?"
"Actually I'm not."
"Carol don't try me."
"I'm kidding. Damn." I look at her. She's really afraid of a grounding. Her ocean blue eyes meddled with that intense fight or flight acuity.

"Can I ask you something?"
She nods.
"You visited Jake yesterday, didn't you?"
"Which is none of your business, thank you very .. "
"Yes or no?" I interrupt.
"Look, if this is another of your tricks to act big brother on me, it's a lost cause. Mom already knows about Jake."
"Carol, this isn't about you. Not everything is about you, actually."
I feel like a jerk. I shouldn't be lecturing my little sister. I just like the authority of it. Jerk!
"I need to know right now, where were you last night?"
"What?"
"I mean, what were you and Jake doing yesterday by the stream."
"None of your business." She walks away but I catch her by the arm.
"Leave me alone." She fights. It's all in vain. I'm no letting go. I deserve to know. If that asshole is banging my sister, I deserve to freaking know.
*Jerk*
Call me one, but I feel like I'm losing control of the ladies in my life. First mom, now Carol. No way.

***
I shake her. "Carol, say something." But she's silent.
I let go but she's still silent, her cold demeanor unchanged.
That's when it hits me. I've gone too far. Stupid me.
"Carol, listen, I'm ..." She's gone. A little bit later, a heavy thud follows.
She's fainted. Carol has freaking fainted. As in
F: A: I: N: T: E: D
*Fuck me*
"Carol...Carol..." I shout at the top of my lungs. "Carol?!"
No answer.
Fuxkkkkkk
Fuck me.
Where's the freaking ambulance?!

***
It's been five minutes since the medics arrived.
"What's your name again?"
"Kevin."
"You have one name. Like a dog?"
I'd be pissed in normal circumstances. Not today.
Control yourself idiot. Control yourself.
"It's Kevin Adams sir."
A round of further unrelated questions assault me. I sign some papers.
"Is that all?"
The paramedic looks like he's about to give me a slap.
"Her name is Carol? Right." Yes. I've said that a billion freaking times. *Goddamnit*

"Yes sir."
"Alright, here's my number. I'm the medic officer in charge." He hands me his card. Name says Oliver Watts, 38, BLA BLA BLA.
"Can I come with her? Please?"
"I'm afraid not. Stay home and tell your mom to contact us as soon as possible. It'll only make things worse for your sister if she wakes up and sees you."
"Excuse me?" My heart skips a beat. Is he implying that I had something to do with...?
"It's a nervous system reaction, really. Now, if you'd excuse me, I have a patient to attend to."

Their van left as fast as it had came.
But why? Of all days of the month, why today? When I'm preparing to go for a...forget it. Mom is gonna be ...
Oh my gosh, she's gonna kill me.
Dear Earth please swallow me.
