You looked out of your window, staring into the distance, waiting if there was a letter from him. You had sent a few letters to him, but sadly he never responded to any of them. It was worrying you, considering how toxic his home was. He always despised being home, thus he would write to you to distract himself from his arguing parents.

Your heart was aching at the thought of Severus being so trapped in his home during the holidays. You heard devastating stories about his home from him, and you did not like the idea of your boyfriend being in the dreadful home. He always found comfort when he was in Hogwarts, mostly because you were there with him.

You asked him to stay with you a few times already, but he rejected the idea every single time. He never wanted to be a burden to you. He would say that having you as his lover was a blessing, and he did not want to be a nuisance to his blessing.

Sighing, you jumped out of your bed and went downstairs where your parents were having tea in the living room. They smiled when you approached them, and you went to sit next to your father.

"Hello, Miss Y/N."

Your house-elf greeted you, pouring tea into a cup and handed it to you. You gave him a warm smile, and nodded.

"Thank you."

You thanked him, and watched with amusement as he scurried away to the kitchen. Your house-elf was always shy with you, saying that you were the kindest person he had ever met.

"It's good to finally see you out of your room."

Your mother pointed out, and you pressed your lips into a thin line at her words. You had to admit that since Severus did not respond to your letters, you stayed in your room more often than usual, losing yourself in your own thoughts about him.

"Are you still waiting for his letter?"

She asked, knowing what was troubling your mind. You were not a person who kept secrets from your parents, considering that you told them almost everything about your life including when you started to date Severus. In fact, your parents had to listen you talking so highly about him, never once did you mention anything bad about him because in your eyes, he was the perfect one for you.

"I'm worried about him."

You sighed, your heart was getting heavy at the thought of something bad could happen to him.

"Why don't you go visit him tomorrow? I'll take you there."

Your father suggested, making a big smile found its way on your face. You squealed and gave your father a hug, and he pretended as if he could not breath at how tight you were hugging him.

"You're too happy, my little dove. I'm starting to think that you love this Severus more than you love your parents."

Your father teased, and your mother just chuckled at his remark. Your face flushed, thinking of how much you loved Severus. Your parents were going to tease you more when your house-elf called out for you.

"I'm sorry, Miss Y/N but there is a boy at the door who is looking for you."

Your parents looked at each other with questions in their head. Usually, no one would come to your family manor uninvited unless there was some important matters to be discussed. They wondered who was on their door, wanting to see you.

Your mind was directed to one person, worry sunk deep within your heart and you rushed towards the door. A gasp escaped your lips when you saw Severus standing there, looking so weak and beaten up. There was tears in his eyes when he looked at you, who looked as beautiful as ever, so different than the state that he was in. Suddenly, a wave of embarrassment washed over him, thinking that he should not even came in the first place.

"Forgive me for coming here, Y/N. But I.. I can't stay there anymore—"

He did not even get to finish his sentence when you pulled him in, shocking your parents at the sight of the poor boy. Severus was ashamed of burdening you, and now your parents had to see him in this condition. His body was trembling as he held back his tears. There was so many bruises on his skin and his nose was bleeding. Severus cringed internally, thinking that this was not the first impression that he wanted to give to your parents about him but there was nothing he could do as he felt your parents' worry eyes on him.

"Father, please help him."

You almost begged, tears threatened to roll down your cheeks as your heart was crushed to see him in pain like that. Your father was extremely good at healing spells, and you knew he could help Severus without causing him too much pain. You did not want your boyfriend to experience more pain that he already was suffering in.

"Take him to the guest room. I'll be there in a moment."

You nodded vigorously at your father's instruction, and quickly made your way to the guest room with Severus. You sat him on the bed carefully, your heart was ripped out of your chest when suddenly he broke into tears. His gut-wrenching sobs was wrecking your soul, seeing how tormented and tortured his fragile heart was.

"It's alright, love. You're here with me. Your father can't hurt you anymore."

You caressed his face gently, assuring him that you were there to help him through everything, not wanting him to be in pain anymore. You guessed it was his notorious father who hurt him, and when he did not argue, you knew it was the painful truth that he had to swallow.

"I love you, Severus. You're safe with me."

You whispered lovingly, calming him down as he looked you in the eyes. You looked so genuine and loving, and Severus cried silently, grateful to know you would always show him so much love in your every word and every action. Sometimes he felt undeserving of you, but now as you comforted him, he knew he needed you. His pain was not his main concern anymore as you ran your soft fingers through his hair.

You were glad when he came to you to seek help because he needed it. At least, he was safe here, far from his parents and you never wanted him to be back there ever again. You hated to think what would happen if he did not run away from his home.

You tore your gaze away from him when your father cleared his throat, a smirk was dancing on his lips, noticing how close you were with Severus. Both of you did not notice when the older wizard walked into the room.

"Alright, Severus. This is going to hurt a bit. Not much, just a little."

Your father joked, as he wanted to help Severus. However, when your father stepped closer towards him, Severus flinched and shielded his face instinctively. Sorrow flashed across your father's face, realising how traumatic it was for the boy after being abused by his father. His old heart was wrapped in so many feelings, thinking that such a young boy should not experienced such horrendous things in his home.

On the other hand, Severus noticed when your father's smile dropped, and he immediately thought that your father was angry at him, making fear wrapped around his heart. It was only logical for him to be scared, his father never showed him any hint of love and affection, and to have an adult man approaching him after a traumatic event in his life was frightening him. You put your hand on his arm comfortingly when you realised that he was afraid.

"My father is not going to hurt you, love."

You coaxed him, giving him a smile, hoping that he would let your father help him. Severus frowned, but he trusted you, you would never wanted him to be hurt. He only trusted one person and it was you. You would never lie to him, your words were true and he believed your father was trying to help. Therefore, he nodded weakly and pushed his fear away when your father came closer.

"I'm going to help you, Severus. It's alright."

Your father's voice was calming, and you were eternally grateful at how understanding your father was. Severus noticed it too, and he was amazed at how loving your father was; he was nothing like his cruel father. He was used to have his father screaming and yelling on his face, that he never thought a father could be so gentle and loving. He let your father healed him, with your hand on his arm, calming him every time he winced in pain.

It made him realise another thing that you had that he never got a chance to feel and that is a father's love, but he was really happy to know that your father loved you, Severus never wished for you to experience what he had, knowing that you were far too precious to be treated the way he was treated.

Your father left you and Severus in the room when he was done, but not before he made sure that the door was opened so he could know that nothing bad could happen to his sweet daughter.

You scooted closer to him, taking his hands in yours. Severus sighed in content, your warmth engulfed his cold hands, a small smile was cracked on his lips. He could not help but look around the room. He felt so out of place. Your home was so different than his, and you parents were nothing like his parents. You had a life that was far too different from his, and he wondered why you were not disgusted by his presence, knowing that you could do so much better than him.

"Sev, are you alright?"

You asked, fiddling with his fingers. It was something that you did when you sat with him, but you stopped when you saw a frown on his face.

"What's wrong?"

"I shouldn't come here, Y/N."

His voice broke, and you were flabbergasted at his words. It was no secret that Severus was ashamed of himself. He did not deserve you, and everything you gave to him without hoping for anything in return. You were Y/N L/N, who came from a perfect pureblood family, while he was just... Him. He was a disgrace, a boy with a broken heart who found his comfort by loving you. He thought that it was very unfair for him to be with you, while you could be with someone who was not dreaded by his toxic home; someone who could share the same bizarre life as you.

"I've become a burden to you."

He continued, his voice was small and defeated, dropping his gaze on the floor. Severus was hesitated to come to you, but he was desperate when his father started to act out of control. He thought that he could no longer stay there when his father threatened him to quit Hogwarts, that was something he could never do. It meant that he would lose his home, and he would never get to see you again. Thus, he decided to run and he did not have anyone else to go but you.

However, as soon as he arrived at your family mansion, he was contemplating if he should see you or not. He knew you must be worried for him. The letters that you sent never reached him, as he saw his father tore them into tiny little pieces in front of him, a wicked smirk was on the older man face as he watched Severus cried to see your letters. He listened to his heart to knock on the door, and now when he was in on of many other rooms in your luxury mansion, he regretted his decision.

"Your parents will think that I'm pathetic and I don't deserve you."

It was one of his biggest fears to give such a dreadful impression to your parents. He came in today bloodied and beaten, he guessed that your parents must had been annoyed and disgusted by his presence in their beautiful home. Severus knew how important family was to pureblood families, and the same applied to you. He was scared if your parents took you away from him, convincing you that he was not good enough and he could never see you again.

"That's not true. My parents will never think of that. They adore you, love."

Your smile enchanted him, and he almost cried at your loving gaze. There was something about you when you looked at him, you always managed to show your love and affection through your eyes, and it melted him into a puddle of giddiness every time. No one had ever looked at him that way before but you, and he did not care for anyone else, as long as he had you loving him.

"I've been telling them about you almost every day, Sev!"

You chuckled under your breath, smiling shyly as now he knew how often you talked about him. He was surprised to know that you mentioned him to your parents. He was just Severus Snape, a person who people did not really care for, the one who did not deserve to be spoken of so highly and yet, by heavens, you told a plethora of stories about him.

"Aren't you ashamed of me?"

His question shattered your heart, not knowing that he would ever feel that way. Your eyebrows knitted together and it angered you that he would even think of that. It hurt you a bit when you realised that he thought you would be ashamed of him.

"I'm so proud of you, Severus. Every day I tell myself that I'm so lucky to have you loving me."

You were on the verge of tears, realising how vulnerable Severus was. You wondered if you did not show him your love enough, or did you ever do something to make him feel so low about himself. He panicked when you were close to crying. He hated to see you cry, it was something that he despised, your tears would rip and tear his heart apart mercilessly.

Severus pecked your lips lovingly, making a smile grow on your face. His heart was at ease when you smiled, and he knew there was nothing else that could make him happy but you. He was determined to keep you happy for his whole life, he would everything in his power to chase your agony away, no matter what was the price.

"I love you, Y/N."

He whispered softly, and you nodded, kissing his nose playfully.

"I love you too. And remember, you're not a burden to me. I'm happy to have you here."

You reminded him, moving your lips to plant a soft kiss on his cheek. You pulled him to lie down next to you, snuggling into his arms like you always did when you were at Hogwarts. Severus felt so safe and loved, and all of his insecurities faded away, as you whispered sweet nothings into his ears, slowly lulling him into sleep. He slept peacefully, holding you close into his chest, who were falling asleep as well.

It was such a good sleep that Severus finally had, without having to hear his parents' arguments or the sound of broken things around the house. He did not have to stay alert, in fear that his father might came into his room and let out his anger on him. He did not have to stay frozen in his spot, as his mother scolded him for her own foolish mistakes. He just let himself dream without any worry creeping out on his mind, with you sleeping in his arms, that he could finally be happy.

"Y/N, Severus, dinner is ready—"

Your father stopped talking when he saw you cuddling with Severus, sleeping peacefully like nothing could break you apart from each other. He glanced at your mother who had a soft smile adorned her face. They both looked at each other and they knew what they had to do, to savour the moment as a perfect memory.

"We should take a picture."

"Yes, we should. They look so cute together."

Your mother gushed, earning a chuckle from her husband. Severus was not bothered at all by your parents' presence on the door, as his mind was filled with wonderful dreams of his future with you, knowing that it was you and him against the world. He was no longer afraid of his father, nor he was worried for his safety in his home. He was just happy to be holding you, and he was not planning on letting you go.
