• Don't You Dare •
You knew Dolores Umbridge was a bad news to Hogwarts. Whenever she was around, you would always felt something was wrong about her— Well, everything about her was off.
Your husband always noticed when you were uncomfortable around that woman. Thus, Severus always held your hand in his when Umbridge was around, assuring you that nothing was going to hurt you as long as he was there.
However when Umbridge was standing across you in your office, you could not help but admitted that you hate that woman. She eyed your office and acted as if she was disgusted by your choice of furnitures, giving you a mocking smile as her eyes landed on you.
"You teach Study of Ancient Runes, is that right?"
She asked, with her sickeningly sweet voice, you knew she was nothing close to sweet. She must had a hidden meaning behind her every word.
"Yes, I have been teaching for a few years now."
You answered, trying to fake a smile as you told yourself to be professional. Umbridge was expecting you to scowl at her, but that did not happen hence she was kind of surprise.
"Do you think you're a good teacher, Professor L/N?"
Umbridge asked, raising her eyebrows. You cleared your throat and gave her a small smile.
"That question should be asked to my students. I cannot rate myself, but they can."
You replied casually, ever the selfless— You despised to speak so highly of yourself but you never downgraded your potential either.
"Pathetic."
Umbridge whispered under her breath but you were quick to catch it. You frowned and anger rose in your chest.
"Excuse me?"
You retorted, the rage in your chest was bubbling when you saw her malicious smile. Oh, how you hoped you could smack her right on her face.
"I believe the students call you Professor L/N instead of Professor Snape. Why is that?"
She knew about your marriage with Severus, of course, she did. But was that question even necessary?
"I use my name to avoid confusion. It would be hard for students if there are two Professor Snape around here."
Clearly, your answer was not expected by her. She was not impressed, and you could see it in her eyes. She was anticipating another answer, a harsh one.
"Oh, that's good. I thought you were ashamed of your husband."
She chuckled, and your eyes widen at her words. Ashamed of your husband? You felt as if your face was turning red, your anger was screaming to get out of your chest.
"Why would I be ashamed of Severus?"
You spat, irrirated that she would ever think that you could be ashamed of your lovely husband. You were so proud of him. Everyday you woke up, thankful that you were married to such a great man.
"Perhaps because he failed to teach Defense Against the Dark Arts, several times.."
She let out a vicious giggle, maybe she was hoping to tick you off. You curled your hands in fist and chewed on your bottom lip. It took all you had not to scream in her face.
"That, and the fact that he is not a great wizard at all. What a pathetic excuse for a husband, he is. I thought you were ashamed of him—"
You could not control yourself any longer. You did not realise when did your fist meet with her face, breaking her nose. She screamed in pain and you noticed you just punched her in the face, literally.
"How dare you?!"
She yelled frantically, blood was gushing out of her nose. You gasped in shock, but a part of you was relieved that you hurt her. Well, she was insulting your husband!
"You were asking for it when you talked about Severus!"
You roared, venom was dripping from your voice. You frowned and you were surprised with your outburst. Usually you were not the kind of person who liked to argue, and there you were, punching Umbridge in the face when she insulted the love of your life.
"You're going to regret this, Snape."
Her words would forever be stucked in your mind as you were standing in the same position as Trelawney did, a few days ago.
Your stuff was brought out, and Umbridge was determined to kick you out of Hogwarts. The students looked at you with sympathy in their eyes. They saw it happened to Trelawney, but they never thought it would happen to you. At least, they thought Severus would be there when you were troubled.
"You can't do this to me, Umbridge."
Your voice was stern, but you were sad as well. Deep within your heart, you knew you did not want to leave Hogwarts. But that woman had power to ruin everyone's life.
"Actually, I can."
She said proudly, waving off the Order of Dismissal in her hand. The sight of her broken nose was satisfying though, knowing that you caused it.
"You are pathetic, do you know that? Not me."
You fought, wondering where your husband would be at the time. Her smile fell and she glared daggers at you. She was stepping closer to you and you would never back away from her. Never.
She pointed her wand to your throat, a smirk was plastered on her face. Somehow you were not afraid of her. You stood still on your ground, but there was tears in your eyes.
"Don't you dare to lay a finger on my wife!"
Severus's cold voice could be heard as he rushed to your side, making Umbridge pulled back her wand from you.
You let out a breath and words could not express how happy you were to see Severus. He wrapped an arm around your waist protectively, throwing a glare at Umbridge.
"What do you think you're doing?"
He hissed, trying to control his anger. He had never felt this way before. Seeing Umbridge downgraded his wife, kicking her out and threatened the love of his life with her wand— He was furious.
"Why, Severus? You want to go with your wife?"
She asked, smirking. You looked up at your husband and his heart was crushed to see tears pooled in your eyes.
"If you want her to leave, you'll have to dismiss both of us."
Severus announced, taking everyone by surprise. Your jaw dropped and you shook your head in disagreement.
The students were flabbergasted too. They thought Severus was going to argue, or at least he would never leave with you. But they were wrong. Severus was willing to leave with his wife. They knew he loved you, but they never knew it was that much.
"Oh, you both really love each other, don't you? That's why your stupid wife decided to punch me because of you."
Severus was angry, he did not mind as she mentioned about the punching— He only heard that Umbridge called you stupid, and his heart was on fire. No one would dare to insult his beautiful wife.
On the other hand, the students could not believe their ears. Professor Y/N punched Umbridge? That was unbelievable. You were too kind, you would not even hurt a fly and now you punched Umbridge. That was new.
"If I hear another insult coming out of your mouth—"
Severus was stopped when Albus came, gesturing him to take you inside.
"Both of you, please come inside. I will settle this matter myself."
Albus said, with Minerva by his side. You thanked him and walked with your husband. He took your hand in his tightly, not wanting to let go as if he was afraid you would vanish into thin air.
As you walked into his office, Severus quickly wrapped his strong arms around you. You buried your face into his chest and inhaled his scent, comforting you in a way that you could not explain.
"I love you."
You muttered, and he pulled away to look you in the eyes.
"I love you too. But what happened?"
He asked. You sighed and felt like a scolded child. You fiddled with your fingers and planted your gaze on the cold hard floor.
"She was insulting you."
You whispered, and it tugged on your heartstrings when you remembered how upset you were when somebody talked badly about Severus.
"I don't care if she wanted to insult me, but not you. I won't let her do it."
Tears was threatening to fall from your eyes as Severus caressed your face in his hands, forcing your eyes to meet his. His face softened when he realised that you really cared about him.
"I punched her. I think I broke her nose."
You admitted, shrugging your shoulders. Severus's eyes grew wide as he looked at you in disbelief. Clearly, he was not listening properly when Umbridge talked about it before.
But could it be true?
Y/N, his love, his sweet beautiful wife who was such a soft-spoken person— broke Umbridge's nose. He could not believe it.
"You did what?"
"I punched her because she insulted you!"
You were going to cry, you knew it. You felt guilty now because your husband must be angry. He must be mad because of your imprudent actions. Tears started to stream down your face and you apologised.
"I'm sorry! I didn't mean to do it—"
You were crying when your husband laughed. He cupped your face and wiped away your tears with his thumbs.
"Why are you apologizing, darling?"
He grinned, planting a soft kiss on your forehead.
"I thought you were mad."
"I can't be mad at you, my Y/N."
He whispered lovingly, making you fell in love with your husband even deeper than you already were.
"I'm happy to know that you're protective of me, darling. But please do not hurt yourself."
Severus said as he noticed your red fist. He always said that your hands were small and adorable, of course it would hurt you when you punched that woman.
"She has a hard face."
Severus smiled at your words, and you chuckled. He pulled you in for a kiss and you deepened the kiss, pulling him closer to you. You whimpered as he pulled away, smirking at you.
"You almost got kick out of here because of me. Do you realise that?"
He asked, and you nodded.
"And you almost got kick out of here too, because of me."
You replied, smiling genuinely at your husband. Severus sighed and embraced you lovingly, kissing your head and lingered there for a moment.
"I'll do anything for you."
"Me too."
"Including breaking somebody's nose?"
"I did that already, didn't I? So yes. I will hurt anybody who hurts you."
Your sweet words sent a warm feeling erupted in his chest. Severus knew that it was not easy to be married to him, but he also knew that you were happy to be with him— and that was more than enough.
