"You're on time today, Miss L/N. That's odd."

The Potions Master pointed out as soon as you stepped into his office. You rolled your eyes, ignoring his words as you took a seat across him, who was busy grading papers.

"I wasn't always late to see you."

You argued, squinting your eyes at your professor who had his usual stoic look on his face. You had been taking extra lessons with him, considering that you had potential to strive in Potions compared to your friends, and Severus was not going to waste your potential and hard work. It would not hurt to say that you and him had form a friendship now.

"Are those the 1st year students' essays?"

You guessed, seeing the frown on his face. He dropped his quill and leaned back against his chair, an exasperated sigh escaped his lips.

"Yes."

He responded, scowling at those papers as if they could understand his annoyance. You had to stifle your laughs when you looked at your professor who was irritated by the mistakes that those students made.

"Do you need any help, Professor?"

You asked upon seeing how many work he had to do and there was no way he would have time to tutor you that evening. Severus eyed you suspiciously, and you knew so well that he was breaking your mental walls, seeing what you were thinking.

"What do you want from me, Y/N?"

"I don't want anything. I just want to help."

You chuckled under your breath, his doubts were disappearing from his eyes as he handed you some papers to grade. You were in your final year, it would take a few months then you were free to leave Hogwarts. He trusted you to grade those papers, and you were glad that he did.

After a few moments, you grunted, putting the papers aside and moving to another. Severus watched you with interest, amused that you were trying so hard to keep up with the students' imprudent mistakes. It humoured him a little bit when he realised you were losing your patience, gritting your teeth and clenching your jaw like you could explode from anger anytime soon.

"You're not very patient, aren't you, Miss L/N?"

He said, cocking his eyebrow, a faint smile appeared on his face when he saw how frustrated you were.

"You know me better than anyone else, Professor."

You mumbled, continue to grade the papers with enthusiasm, not wanting to give up easily. Severus nodded, understanding your antics since he gave you extra lessons. Your patience was thin, but surprisingly, you rarely got angry. You managed to keep your rage away, even when you were losing your patience.

That was something that he adored about you. Whenever the students were fighting or screaming with each other, you would leave the scene immediately, not patient enough to deal with their foolishness but at the same time you were not enraged to pick a side in the fight.

Severus had notice those little things about you and he thought you were smart, not just in classes but in your decisions as well. He surely made the right choice to tutor you, knowing that you would have a bright future waiting for you.

"I'm sorry to say but this one is awful."

You commented an essay, and Severus glanced at the student's name, sighing as he agreed with you.

"Was I this bad too when I was in 1st year, Professor?"

You asked, frowning, when you realised that he might not notice you when you were a first year student. You were quiet, you only talked to your friends from your house, and you never put up your hand to answer the teachers' questions. You only found yourself, stepping out of your shell when you got into your 4th year.

"You were better, Y/N. Much better."

He answered, surprising you when he remembered. You tilted your head a bit, starting to wonder if he was making it up or he really remembered you. Severus rolled his eyes dramatically, knowing what was on your mind.

"I noticed you, Miss L/N. A small girl with a big heart. It was hard not to notice you when you were busy helping your friends until you messed up your own potion."

He said, a smirk was dancing on his lips. He had many students under his care, but it did not mean that he was ignorant to some students who were bright. Your face flushed at his words, remembering that day when he literally deduct your house points because of the mistake you made.

"You took 50 points from my house! That was so unfair."

You muttered, a little bit glad that were able to talk to him about this years after the incident. Severus raised his eyebrows, his smirk never disappeared from his face.

"How was that unfair?"

"Like you said, I was helping my friends. I helped my friends from your house, alright?"

You chewed on your bottom lip, not really remembering who were those Slytherins that you helped. Severus shook his head weakly, not minding to argue with you, and he continued to do his work while you resumed to grade a few papers left.

"I don't think it would be quite prudent if I become a teacher."

You said, relieved that you were done grading those papers. Severus let out a deep chuckle, thinking that you would be a good teacher.

"Why is that?"

"Like you said, lack of patience."

You replied curtly, a smile was emblazoned on your face, clearly content that you managed to grade the papers.

"What do you have in mind after Hogwarts?"

He asked, interested to know your plan. He never saw a pattern in your subjects, you seemed to tolerate them all without having any as favourite, Potions was excluded but he was sure that it was not your passion.

"I want to be an author."

Severus was impressed at how quick you answered him, you must had it planned for awhile now.

"Please keep in mind that I will be the first to read your book when you publish one, Y/N."

He reminded, and you grinned when you realised that your professor was supporting your dream. You nodded vigorously, a wave of happiness washed over you to hear somebody who was important to you, acknowledging your dream for the future. Severus smiled upon seeing how excited you were, standing up from his chair.

"You helped me so much today, Miss L/N. I'll make you some tea."

He offered, walking to his kitchen and you quickly followed him like a lost puppy. Severus did not mind you as you stood not too far from him, a big grin was plastered on your face.

"Do you have cookies?"

You asked, making the professor groaned.

"This is not your home, Y/N. Please be grateful that I'm making you tea."

You laughed at his words, and he just shook his head. If he said that to you years ago when you were just a quiet 1st year, you would cower in fear and leave immediately. It dawned to you how comfortable you were with him, and soon you were going to leave Hogwarts, and your favourite professor.

"I'll take that as a no. It's alright, Professor. Next time I'll bring cookies with me!"

You told him, and the professor could only smile at your words. You were true to your words, during your next extra lessons with him, you brought some cookies to share with him— And you practically forced him to make you some tea.

...................

The owl flew away as soon as it dropped the package to Severus, who had a knowing smile on his face. There was a letter for him, and a book which surprised him. He could not help but smiled broadly upon seeing the name of the author of the book; Y/N L/N, his favourite student, the one who had never left his mind even after you left Hogwarts.

You made it. You wrote your book and you made sure he was the first to read it.

"Who sent this to you, Severus?"

Minerva intervened his moment, with Albus by her side. The younger professor rolled his eyes, showing it to the other teachers who seemed to be interested with the package that he just received. Severus kept your letter in his pocket, wanting to read it when he was alone.

"Y/N L/N? She was our student, wasn't she?"

Minerva asked, a proud smile was on her face as she looked at your first published book. Severus nodded, pride wrapped around his heart, knowing that he was one of many people who encouraged you to chase your dream.

"Why do you get this book from her and I don't?"

She questioned, and Severus sighed, standing up to get away from his colleagues.

"You can just buy it, Minerva."

He mumbled, and somehow he felt very special, knowing that he was the only teacher that got the book from you. Albus frowned, putting his hands on his waist as he pondered silently.

"I'm the headmaster of Hogwarts. She is supposed to send me one as a gift too."

Severus could not help but scoff at him, wanting to leave them as soon as possible so that he could read your letter. His heart could not wait any longer to know more about your life now.

"You're not her favourite professor, Albus. That's why."

He simply said, taking the book from Minerva's hands and started to walk back to his office. He shut the door behind him, anticipating to read the letter from his favourite student, the one who engraved many memories in his mind.

The Potions Master smiled, as he read the letter, your neat handwriting was still the same since Hogwarts;

"Dear Professor Snape,

I hope you are doing well even without me to look after you every day. I guess there will be other students who will remind you not to skip your meals. I know you tend to do that when you are busy. I keep my promise, and you are the first person who is going to read my book. I'm so excited for you to read it and I really hope that you are going to like it!

I will visit you this weekend, and no, I'm not asking for permission to do so. It has been quite some time and I miss you so much. I hope you will be happy to see me. I will make sure to bring some cookies and please do not forget to make me some tea, you know I love it when you make it! I'll see you soon.

Love,
Y/N."

Severus had never been so excited for the weekend to come in his whole life, just to have some cookies and tea with you.
