• Better Than Me •
"I really don't want to be here."
Severus muttered, as soon as you and him arrived at the Grimmauld Place for the order meeting.
"It's alright. I'm here with you."
You winked at him, taking his hand in yours as both of you walked in to see the others. Severus cracked a small smile for you, but his smile dropped once he heard the crescendo which was caused by the other members.
"I prefer to be home right now."
He grumbled, and you chuckled under your breath. You were going to say something to him when somebody called out your name. Severus could not help but rolled his eyes when he saw Remus who was walking towards you.
"Hi, Remus!"
You gave him a friendly hug, and Severus sighed when you were not holding his hand anymore.
"I've missed you, Y/N. It's been quite some time since I last saw you."
Remus said, and he was ignoring your husband's stone cold glare towards him. You just smiled, knowing that Severus did not like the fact that you were close with Remus.
You greeted everyone who was there, and then your eyes landed on a man that you had never met before.
"I'm Sirius Black. Nice to meet you."
He introduced himself, a smirk was dancing on his lips. You shook his extended hand, not knowing how annoyed Severus was to see Sirius.
"It's nice to finally see you too. I've heard from Remus about you."
You gave him a smile, before all of you sat down and you took a seat next to your husband who looked more stern that usual. Sirius sat across you, his eyes never leaving you.
"I'm sorry but I didn't catch your name."
Sirius started, giving you a flirtatious smile. Somehow you knew he was not being friendly with you like Remus did, and you needed to stop him before he could make your husband lose his mind with jealousy.
"Y/N. My name is Y/N Snape."
You smiled proudly, taking Sirius by surprise. His eyes widen and his jaw dropped, and he let out a gasp when he saw the ring on your finger. Remus snickered at his friend's reaction, patting his back softly while giving you a smile.
Severus was flabbergasted as well, but a smirk was cracked on his lips when you reached for his hand. He knew you were proud to tell that you were his wife and it made his heart fluttered.
"You're— You're married to Snape?"
Sirius was still shocked, and his words seemed to bring the others' attention towards you as well. They all knew about your marriage and apparently Sirius Black was the only who had no idea at all. They tried so hard not to laugh at Sirius' face, who could not swallow the fact that such a beautiful angel like you were married with Severus.
"Yes, she's my wife."
Severus interrupted, a mocking smile was plastered on his face. You looked at your husband and shook your head but unable to hide your smile.
The meeting continued and Sirius was still baffled with the whole situation. He could not help but stared at you during the meeting. You did not notice, but your husband could see that Sirius was eyeing you with so much interest. It took everything in the Potions Master not to break his nose right at the moment.
"Are you alright, love?"
You asked him, as he squeezed your hand tightly. He nodded, but you could see that there was something that was troubling his heart.
After the meeting was finished, you and Severus decided to stay for dinner with the order. Severus knew it was a bad idea, but he also knew that you wanted to spend time with the members of the order who were also your friends and Severus was not going to stop you from enjoying your moment.
You were laughing at something that Molly said when Severus gazed at you lovingly. He loved to hear your laughs and see the way your lips curled into a dazzling smile. However, his stomach churned when he noticed that Sirius was adoring you as well.
"Y/N, do you teach at Hogwarts?"
Sirius asked, trying to start a conversation with you. You nodded and told him that you had been teaching there for almost three years now.
"The students must be so happy to have a gorgeous teacher teaching them every day."
He responded, and you chuckled half-heartedly. You were not sure if he was just being nice, or he was trying to flirt with you. But you could sense that your husband despised the situation.
"I don't really know. I'm quite strict with my students."
You revealed, smiling politely at him. You just hoped anyone would intervene in the conversation, and you were grateful when Lupin did.
"That's true. She's kind and gentle but I believe the students do not dare to wrong her. She's strict in disciplining them. And yet, she is still their favourite teacher."
Remus added, making you laughed at his words. You were glad that Sirius did not say anything else during dinner. The last thing you wanted was hurting your husband's feelings when he was jealous. It saddened you.
You were leaving when your husband had an important matter to talk to Arthur. Thus, he left you for awhile, and Sirius thought it was a good decision to approach you.
Both of you talked for a moment, and you started to become comfortable with him and perhaps you and him could be friends. However, as you started to think that, he began to make you uncomfortable with his words.
"Are you and Severus married, for real?"
"Of course. What do you mean?"
You frowned, crossing your arms against your chest. He should have never asked that kind of question.
"I don't know. I thought that it could be a fake marriage for mission or something."
He explained, smirking at you. You were at loss of words. You were kind of hurt that somebody thought your marriage was fake, while all you did was loving your husband with all of your heart.
"I mean, how can someone like you marry someone like Snivellus?"
He chuckled under his breath, and you raised your eyebrows when he called your husband with that name.
"Do you have any problems with me, Sirius?"
"Not with you but with him. I'm sure you can do better than him, Y/N."
Just as you were about to argue with him, he put his hand on your arm. As a reflect, you slapped his hand away and scowled at him.
"You shouldn't touch what isn't yours, Black."
Your husband's voice was calm, but you knew him long enough to hear his rage that was lying underneath his voice. Sirius just smirked, as he moved his gaze from you towards Severus.
"I'm sorry but I was just talking to your wife about how much better of a husband she could find rather than being with you."
He laughed casually, and you rubbed the back of your neck when you realised that night was not going to end anytime soon. Severus groaned, trying to hold back his anger.
"But it seems like she loves you so much."
Remus walked towards you, as he noticed that Sirius was about to do something stupid that he was going to regret later.
"I can't believe a woman like her can love you. I bet she's just irrational and crazy. You can keep her."
Sirius' words sent flare through your chest but your husband was quick to grabbed Sirius' collar and yanked him close. Anger was flashing through your husband's eyes.
"Speak that way about my wife and you'll find yourself dead in a second."
Severus threatened, he was not playing with his words and you knew it. You put your hands on his arm, forcing him to look you in the eyes.
"It's alright, love. Let's get out of here."
You gave him a comforting smile, and he let Sirius go, mostly because you asked him to. Remus breathed in relief when Severus seemed to calm down, and he made a mental note to scold his friend for his imprudent actions.
"Let's go home."
You said, and he nodded. Severus was always protective of you but that night, you knew it was more than just an act of protectiveness but his insecurities were fooling him too.
Thus when you got home, you pulled him in for a long and passionate kiss, showing him how much you loved him and only him.
"I love you and no one can tell me otherwise."
You reminded him, caressing his face softly. He leaned into your touch, giving you a sad smile.
"What if one day you realise that you could do so much better than me?"
His agonising words broke your heart. You shook your head vigorously, showering his face with kisses until a smile was emblazoned on his face.
"You're the only one for me. Forever and always."
Severus' heart soared at your loving words, and he trusted you. He knew he should have never doubted your love for him. He wrapped his arms around you, engulfing you in his warmth as the argument that he had with Sirius that night was slowly forgotten.
