Chapter Thirty-Three

After a few weeks, Severus told Remus that he was going to stay with Lily for a few days. He felt he owed Remus the opportunity to have some time alone with his own parents and he had missed Lily. So he Apparated to Lily's house and, when she excitedly opened the door, having seen him through the window, it was clear that she had missed him too, warming his heart.

"Severus! It's so great to see you!"

She instantly pulled Severus into a hug.

Rose, smiling behind her, then also gave Severus a hug.

"How have you been, Mrs_ Rose?" He asked, looking up at her with big eyes to apologise for his mistake.

She laughed.

"We've been wonderful, thank you. Now, Lily, attend to your guest!"

Lily took Severus upstairs, leading him by the hand with a big smile. It had been awhile since she'd seen him, and, although he had sent her letters almost daily, it wasn't nearly the same as seeing him in person.

"How have you been?" She asked. "How's Remus?"

"Remus is good and so am I," Severus grinned. "Even better now that you're here in front of me."

Lily always made him happy.

"Stop it," she giggled, blushing.

However, she then gave him a serious look.

"Anyway, you said you were up to something in your letter and I need to know that it's not mischief. So what it is, Master Dumbledore?" She asked, hands on hips in an excellent expression of both her mother and the future Mrs Weasley.

"I was thinking about making a potion to cure lycanthropy," Severus admitted, chewing on his lip.

Lily was astonished.

"Permanently?"

"If I possibly can."

Lily may not know that Remus was a werewolf but she was certainly a kind-hearted person.

"Of course you should try to do that! Although, what are you going to do if people don't want to take the potion? There must be some of those sorts of people out there."

"Yes, that is one issue," Severus murmured, thinking of Fenrir Greyback.

"Well, I think you should do it," Lily said determinedly. "If you can spare the majority of werewolves that pain then it's worth it."

"I love it when you're on my side," Severus said, grinning.

Lily smiled.

"Aren't I always?"

"Fortunately, most of the time."

Lily's house wasn't his only stop, however, although he spent a few happy hours with her. Severus was popping in to see Regulus at the famous Black abode. He only hoped that he wouldn't bump into Sirius, and prayed that, for once, such wishes would not come true.

A much younger Kreacher answered the door.

"Who are you?" He asked nastily.

"Severus Dumbledore," Severus replied.

Dumbledore was a Pure-Blood family after all and Kreacher never went out - he wouldn't know whether or not Severus was a blood relative.

The House Elf immediately began bowing and scraping.

"Apologies for my tone, Sir. I did not know to which noble family you belonged."

"That's enough, Kreacher," Mrs Black, arriving in the hallway. "To whom do I owe this pleasure?"

It was indeed odd to see Mrs Black alive and not screaming from a portrait.

"Severus Dumbledore at your service, Ma'am," Severus said, giving a small bow. "I have come to see Regulus, if that is alright with you."

Severus knew how to appease the adults, and, given that Regulus was her favourite child, he knew that mentioning him was a sure way to get on her good side. She also looked flattered to be bowed to.

But it was also clear that she knew who he was. He had been in the papers for inventing the Magical Core potion, after all.

"I have heard of your endeavours, Mr Dumbledore," Mrs Black spoke, smiling slightly. "You have a talent for making potions."

Too late, Severus realised that Mrs Black would not have been too keen on his potion as it allowed Squibs to join the magical world and that her smile was almost certainly malicious rather than kindly. However, despite this, she didn't seem too fazed. Perhaps she was just hiding her distaste deep down.

"Severus!"

Regulus appeared at the top of the stairs.

"I thought I heard your voice," he continued, hurrying down the stairs. "Mother, he's with me, you can go back to your reading."

Mrs Black simply gave them a look and then swept gracefully away.

"Sorry about that," Regulus whispered. "An assortment of Sirius' friends have turned up unannounced in various disguises to try and kidnap him and take him away. Mother's foiled every plot thus far."

"I can make him disappear if you like," Severus said slyly, fingering his wand evilly.

Regulus seemed tempted.

"I might have to pass just this once," he answered, amused. "Mother will explode, and, if there's any goal Siri and I share, it's keeping her quiet."

"Good idea," Severus said, remembering Mrs Black's earsplitting screams.

"Anyway, why are you here?" Regulus questioned. "I obviously wasn't going to interrogate you in front of Mother but you, too, have turned up unannounced. Not that I'm not grateful, of course," the Slytherin added quickly. "This house is stiflingly boring at the best of times."

They arrived at Regulus' room and Regulus shut the door after they were safely inside. Severus liked the decorations; a festival of Slytherin green and silver, and was amused by the mess of textbooks and broken quills on the clearly overused desk. Regulus merely grinned at his admiring glance, before saying,

"So, what is it?"

"I've had an idea for another potion," he said quietly.

Regulus leant forward, curious.

"What is it?"

"Another potion to cure injustice," Severus began slowly. "I've helped Squibs and now I am going to help lycanthropes."

Although Regulus hadn't yet studied werewolves, he knew all about them.

"Wicked!" He exclaimed. "There are some slimy ones about. If they were just unpleasant people rather than dangerous creatures..."

"_There would be a lot less evil in the world," Severus finished.

"I like it," Regulus grinned. "Do you have any ideas?"

"A few. I might need your assistance."

"I should hope so!" Regulus exclaimed, puffed out his chest. "I'm the second best Potioneer in the school."

"Slughorn's probably the worst," Severus drawled.

"Almost certainly," Regulus laughed.

He took on a serious expression.

"But how can you communicate with me? You know Mother and Father are in with... That side. She intercepts our owls sometimes."

"I have my ways," Severus said with a smirk.

"Of course you do," Regulus sighed.

Severus only grinned more. This would be fun.

A.N. Another update! And it's only been two months. xD

For anyone wondering about the lack of updates, I have exams every month from now on so I have been super busy with schoolwork and revision. Due to this, this chapter may well be the last one until about June or July - please don't kill me! I'm impressed that I even managed to find the time to write this chapter with everything going on so I really hope you enjoyed it and the expansion of the Harry Potter universe to Grimmauld Place. I wanted to give Regulus a bit more screen time. :)

Thank you so much for reading and I would greatly appreciate any comments!
