After her brief video call with Andy and Ollie, Louise gave up on the whole idea of reading Maria Valentina Orizaba's biography. It was none of her business anyway who Logan chose to date. It was his life, he was an adult, and she had no desire to meddle in the life of her arch nemesis. Louise was just trying to be a good friend by trying to round up information for Aimee, but now that she had no peace of mind to read, she decided it was time to stop.

She returned to her dorm room to do homework. The twins were still there on Aimee's bed, talking to their older brother and Louise rolled her eyes. It would be another while of them screeching at their computer with laughs and giggles. They got on so well with their older brother. Louise got on with her siblings as well, but not exactly as well as the Arriola Hendricks siblings. The girl with a pink bunny ears hat over her jet black hair went to her desk in the dorm room and got her homework out of her backpack. At St. Mary's Academy, she was forced to do her homework. Otherwise, her teachers would give her detention. Louise had learned that the hard way, and she hated it. She missed the days when she could get her mother Lin or her sister Tina to do her work for her. She missed her family in general. She missed her mother's singing, her father's love for burgers, Gene's fart noises, and Tina's swooning over Jimmy Pesto Jr. Now she was stuck in a school she hated, two thousand miles from home.

The next day would be a Thursday and she had her odd numbered classes: scientific concepts with Logan, senior year english with sister Darlene, and pre-calculus with sister Mary. The three classes she dreaded the most, all on the same day.

She had gotten out her assignment for Logan's class, a worksheet about the periodic table of elements, when her phone vibrated in the pocket of her jeans. She fished it out with one hand and brought it up to eye level to see the notification. It was a picture message from Andy and Ollie. The Pesto twins only had one cellphone, which they both used. There were two reasons for that. Their father Jimmy Pesto was greedy, and they were always together anyway, so they could both be contacted on the one phone. They liked it that way as well. Louise had asked them once why they wanted just one phone for both of them, and they told her it was because it made them feel as united as they were. Having two phones would have made her feel disconnected from each other.

Louise opened the picture message. It was a picture of Jimmy Pesto and Bob Belcher, arguing in the middle of the street, per usual. It had been taken from Jimmy Pesto's restaurant and Louise could see her family's restaurant in the background. Her mother Lin made an appearance in the picture, watching from the sidewalk with a worried expression on her face.

Louise smiled at the photograph. Typical dad, she thought to herself.

The caption from the twins made her crack a smile.

andy & ollie: theyre at it again :p

She hit the reply button and typed up her response.

louise: bahaha

louise: one day theyre gonna have a heart attack or something out there

She hit the camera button in their conversation and snapped a picture of her math homework, which was her next thing to get done.

louise: do either of you know anything about pre calculus?

andy & ollie: nooo sorry louise :(

louise: sigh. well gtg do this hw then. bye guys, it was nice talking to u

andy & ollie: bye LOUISEEE! we miss u <3

The next morning Louise woke up at seven in the morning to get in the shower before going to classes at eight. The dorm that she shared with Annie and Aimee only had one shower, and if she didn't get up before the twins, she wouldn't get to shower because each of them took their time. There were the communal showers down the hall, but Louise liked her privacy when she showered. All the communal bathroom offered were showers with stalls and curtains to separate them.

That was where the girls in four person dorms had to go when they wanted to do their business. The three person dorms didn't have bathrooms either, but Annie and Aimee had gotten a two person dorm. Louise had just been crammed in there with them when she arrived at St. Mary's and they didn't exactly have room for her.

There were also the suites which were for one person, and they had the biggest and nicest bathrooms. They didn't have to share them with anyone.

Annie and Aimee Arriola could have gotten a dorm for each of them, with the money their parents had, but they wanted to be together. They didn't have a problem sharing with Louise when she arrived at the school.

Louise changed into her dark green school uniform dress with the green knee high socks, and grabbed her backpack before leaving her dorm room. Breakfast ran from seven to eight in the morning and it was seven fifty, which meant she had ten minutes to grab her food and eat it before she had to arrive to Logan's class.

She ran from the dorm building to the cafeteria building which was next door. Just as she was running up to the buffet table, she realized all the trays had been taken away. That was where the warm food was, and she could use her breakfast ticket to pay for it. The only food remaining in the cafeteria were things like chips, ice cream, yogurt, and soft drinks. Those little things were not covered by her meal plan that was covered by her scholarship. Louise felt her stomach growl, but willed it away, stuffing her breakfast ticket into her pocket with a sigh. She would need to suppress her hunger until nutrition time, which was a bit over two hours away.

As she made her way out of the cafeteria and past the commons area where the other girls were finishing up their breakfast, she spotted Annie and Aimee. Louise's eyes brightened and she raced towards them, asking, "Ready to go to class?"

Annie nodded, "We were just about to go look for you."

Aimee grabbed all her trash and placed it on her food tray, along with one of the warm muffins from the bakery section of the cafeteria. It was whole, wrapped in a plastic to keep it fresh. Gesturing to the muffin, Louise asked another question, trying to sound casual. "Are you just gonna throw that away? There are people who starve to death in this world, Aimee."

Aimee shrugged her shoulders and picked up the muffin, and placed it in Louise's hand. "I thought it was a banana nut muffin, but after I paid for it Annie noticed it was carrot cake. If you like it, then you can have it." She told her friend with a friendly smile.

Louise rolled her eyes playfully. "Oh, the woes of the filthy rich."

Her friend giggled. "I know its bad to waste food, but I wasn't gonna eat it."

From beside them, Annie looked down at the watch wrapped around her slender wrist. Gasping, she informed them, "Guys, we have to go. The first period bell is about to ring. The sisters will give us detention if they see us getting there late."

The girls hurried out of the cafeteria, with the twins pausing momentarily at the bins to throw away their trash.

Louise arrived to her first class of the day with her two friends. She had the same plan of defiance she had demonstrated the day before. Her crumpled pink hat was in her pocket and she brought it out, adjusting it atop her head as she entered the room. It was one of the only way she had to annoy Logan in the mean time. She would later find out at what time he arrived at school, in order to inflict more mischief on him.

She sat in her usual seat in the back of the class, with her arms crossed over her chest and a taunting smirk on her face.

He had been too busy writing their warm up assignment on the white board, but turned just as the first bell rang, a friendly smile on his face as he regarded the group of girls in the room. "Good morning, ladies." He greeted all of them, "This is your warm up for the day-"

Logan cut himself short when his eyes caught the pink bunny ears in a room full of dark green school uniforms. Those fucking pink bunny ears, he thought to himself, the smile quickly falling from his face. Now his lips smacked together in annoyance at the seventeen year old girl sitting in the back of his classroom. The smirk she wore on her lips mocked him. It triggered a wave of annoyance in Logan, and he was very close to picking on her like he used to when he was seventeen. But he restrained himself. I'm an adult now, he told himself. I need to approach her obvious undermining of my authority with professionalism

But it was difficult. Oh, it was so difficult.

Forcing a small smile onto his lips, he spoke to Louise in the most authoritative tone he could manage. "Miss Belcher, I asked you not to wear that hat to class again."

"What are you gonna do about it, Logan?" She asked him, taunting him with her words.

In an attempt to get the new teacher's attention for herself, Aimee Arriola pulled something out of her backpack. It was a beanie hat, that Louise didn't even know Aimee owned. She remembered Aimee once telling her that she hated hats because they messed up her hair. The dark green knit beanie had the school's logo in golden thread. The twin adjusted the hat on her head and joined Louise in her moment of rebellion, crossing her arms over her chest as well.

Logan looked to her, shocked. "Miss Arriola-Hendricks, what do you think you're doing?" He asked her. But what he really wanted to ask was: what the fuck is your problem?

Louise wanted to face palm herself. Now her moment of annoying Logan had been tainted by Aimee's attempt to get his attention.

"Ladies," Logan now said to them through gritted teeth. His patience was suddenly running low. It was his classroom, on his first week at that school. He couldn't let the girls' behaviors get out of hand or he would have a problem with them all year. "I'm not going to ask you again." He continued, "Remove those hats or I will take them."

Danielle snorted from her seat in the front of the room, "Just send them to the principal's office, professor Bush. People like them are not educated enough to listen to reason." With a sneer, she added, "Maybe when she leaves the class room will stop smelling like raw meat and dirt restaurant." The only two people in the class room who laughed at her joke were Arabella Knightly and Felicity Erickson. Both of them were friends of hers.

"Yeah? Well-" Louise started, shooting up from her desk to confront the girl in the front of the room.

Logan stood in front of her, placing a hand on her shoulder to hold her back from starting a fight with Danielle. Looking towards Danielle Bradford, he said, "Miss Bradford, do not insult your classmate. If I hear another insult coming from your mouth, I'll send you to the principal's office."

Danielle let out a hmph and turned to face the white board.

Before returning to his desk, Logan reached for Louise's hat, snatching it off her head for a second time that week. He reached for Aimee's hat next and returned with the two hats to his desk. "Miss Arriola-Hendricks, you can pick up your hat after class." Looking to Louise with a glare, he informed her, "Miss Belcher, you can pick up your hat after school. Next time this happens, I'm going to give you an hour of detention after school."

Louise gave an uncaring shrug of her shoulders. He was being quite easy on her. Any of her other teachers would have had her expelled the first time for not following the rules. She knew she would have plenty more chances to annoy Logan for the rest of the school year.

-

After class that morning, Louise and the twins went to his desk. He quickly grabbed the green hat from his top desk drawer and handed it to Aimee. "Please do not make me have to punish you, Miss Arriola-Hendricks." He shot her a stern look, and Louise knew just from it that Logan was in no way interested in Aimee. Aimee on the other hand smiled like an idiot and grabbed her hat, her hand purposefully grazing his.

Just like the first time he took her hat, he asked the twins to give him a moment alone with Louise. Neither of them had told anyone that they knew each other yet. But it was like an unspoken agreement between them.

Heaving a sigh, he grabbed her hat next and held it out for her as he asked, "Why can't you just behave and let me do my job, Louise."

Now that they were alone was when he felt it natural to call her Louise rather than Miss Belcher. It was the separation of his professional life and his personal life.

She grabbed the ears part of her had and tried to tug it out of his grip, but he closed his fist around it to make it more difficult for her. "I just always liked to mess with teachers, and you're a teacher now so..."

The blonde haired teacher groaned and loosened his grip on her hat, allowing her to take it. He warned her once again, "If you don't get your act together I'm gonna keep that hat, and I know how much it means to you."

She clicked her tongue at him. "Tsk, tsk, Logan. I got over wearing my hat when I started at this school. It was a weakness."

"Now I have none." The seventeen year old finished, and left the class room.
