Logan sat at one of the poolside chairs by Maria Valentina, since she had forced him to do so instead of letting him sit closer to the group he was supposed to chaperon. But his blue eyes were trained across the way at the group of teenagers who were in their small group, enjoying the sun. Eventually, many of the girls recognized his girlfriend--she was a former Miss Universe after all--and there was a swarm of teenage girls buzzing around her excitedly. All of them wanted her attention whether it be for pictures with her or autographs.

Maria, of course, loved the attention from her adoring fans.

The twenty five year old chemistry professor of the elite private girls' school heaved a sigh and got back on his feet, walking to the other side to check on Louise and her friends. Truthfully, he only wanted an excuse to get out of there since the other girls were basically trampling him to get to Maria Valentina. His girlfriend didn't notice that Logan had walked off, leaving her with the girls.

As he approached them, he heard Louise tease him with that knowing smirk of hers, "Just a few days ago, good ol' Professor Bush was the one the girls were trying to get to. Now they all cast you aside to get to your girlfriend." Around her, Andy and Ollie laughed at her words, finding them amusing. Annie and Aimee cracked a small smile. The last thing they wanted was to get on the teacher's bad side.

Logan shot her a glare. "Like I care about their attention, four ears."

The group had claimed a table with four chairs under a parasol and two pool side chairs. Logan sat at the last empty seat at the small table. Annie and Aimee had claimed the long poolside chairs and were laying on them in their swimsuits with dark sunglasses covering their eyes. Though Logan didn't mention it, they reminded him of lizards sunbathing. He never did understand the point of people laying out in the sun, their skin burning beneath its rays. He thought Louise was smarter by staying under the shade of the parasol with them

On the table beside them--just a few feet away--was Danielle and her friends Felicity and Arabella. Louise rolled their eyes as they laughed loudly with their booming voices, Danielle's eyes glancing at Andy and Ollie every so often. She wanted to get their attention. Their table was right next to the middle section of the pool, while Louise's table was near the shallow end.

Danielle then mentioned to her friends that she wanted to go for a swim and one of her friends offered to get water goggles to protect their eyes from the chlorine in the pool. Knowing that Louise and her friends would hear her, Danielle happened to mention that she didn't know how to swim and that her friends would have to teach her once they got in the pool. Louise watched her, she was standing dangerously close to the pool's edge for someone who didn't know how to swim. That was when Louise called out to her. "Dude, if you don't know how to swim. Don't stand so close to the edge. You can fall in and cause drama." She said with clear disdain.

Danielle merely looked at her and shot her a glare.

Just then, a group of girls ran by, one of them accidentally knocking into Danielle, sending her tumbling back into the pool. Her friend gasped and grabbed at the air, trying to reach for her before she could fall in, but it had been too late.

There was a loud splash as the heiress fell into the water below.

She thrashed her arms in the water, but still managed to sink down to the bottom. Everyone watched in shock as she struggled to keep herself afloat and time slowed down to a mere trickle. "Someone help her!" Felicity--one of Danielle's cronies--shrieked in distress. "She doesn't know how to swim!"

That was exactly what Louise had warned her about.

In the next second, both Logan and Ollie shot up from their seats at the picnic table. The two of them were quick to strip down to their swimsuits, which none of the girls had a problem with, and dived into the chlorinated water below. At that point, the girls who were surrounding Maria Valentina had torn their attention from her to look at the young men in swimsuits about to rescue Danielle. Louise watched the show unfold before her eyes, doubting that Danielle didn't know how to swim. It all looked perfectly planned to her--too perfect to be coincidental.

Logan and Ollie managed to pull her out of the pool unconscious within moments of her falling in. "I know CPR." Ollie informed the chemistry teacher and he stepped aside to let him do it. Logan knew CPR as well, since he had taken several health classes before he changed his emphasis in the sciences to chemistry. But he wouldn't argue with the teenage boy about it when there was someone's life on the line.

Louise knew Ollie would say that. She and the twins had taken CPR classes two years prior, forced by Mr. Frond and their parents when they complained that they had nothing to do over the summer.

Felicity was a crying mess as she knelt beside an unconscious Danielle. Even then, Louise wasn't convinced by their performance. She knew that Felicity, Danielle, and Arabella all took acting classes as their elective course at St. Mary's Academy. That meant they were good at it--good at pretending, acting, and fooling people.

Logan was back on his feet, dripping wet from the dive into the pool, watching over Ollie as he attempted to nurse Danielle back to health. The teacher was ready to take immediate action and get Danielle to a hospital if it were necessary. Around them, a crowd of girls was forming, all of them murmuring in worry for their classmate. Annie and Aimee sat up on their chairs, glancing from Ollie and Logan to Louise, and then back at them. Louise crossed her arms over her chest, clearly annoyed that they were there, paying more attention to another girl.

Ollie pinched the bridge of Danielle's nose and brought his lips to hers to blow some air into her lungs. He tried that several times until Danielle shook beneath him and let out a violent cough. She coughed up some water and blinked back as she looked up at him.

"Thank you!" She cried dramatically while he helped her to sit up. She then threw her arms around his neck and pulled him close to her in an embrace. "I don't know how to swim. I thought I was going to die."

-

A half hour later, Ollie was in the pool with Danielle and her friends by the shallow end, teaching her how to swim. Louise sat on the steps with her feet inside the pool, watching them with her expression oozing with annoyance. To her it was clear that it had all been a perfectly planned and acted out strategy to get one of the twins to pay attention to her. But Ollie was too trusting to even notice.

Everyone had gone back to their previous activities. Maria Valentina was giving a group of girls a sort of makeshift class and pointers on how to be a successful model. Andy was sitting by Annie, both of them making conversation with each other and clearly flirting.

Aimee had given up on trying to get Logan's attention and went back to focusing on tanning.

Logan was sitting at the picnic table, watching Louise until he finally got up and made his way over to her. He sat right next to her on the steps from the pool. Sneaking a glance at him from the corner of her eye, she asked him with a sigh escaping her lips, "What do you want, Logan?" She almost expected him to poke some fun at her for being alone when she had gone to the pool to be with her friends. Now one of them had ditched her for Annie, and the other for Danielle.

She was surprised when he didn't tease her. "Why don't you go in the water?" He asked, gesturing to the Olympic sized pool with dividers for the swim team to practice.

Louise crinkled up her nose. "Its really awkward to play in the water alone."

Hesitating for a brief instant, Logan bit his lip before he finally brought himself to make the offer. "I'll go with you--if you want."

Now she turned her head to look at him, an eyebrow raised in surprise. "You and me? In the water? Having fun?" Her surprise faded to give way to an amused snort at the thought. "Sorry to disappoint you, Logan. But I doubt that will have a good turn out."

Logan scoffed at her.

"We could swim. I'll race you, unless you're scared." He said, appealing to her more competitive side.

She threw her head back and laughed. "Me losing to you?"

"I was on the swim team when I was at UNAM." Logan informed her, matter-of-factly.

"And even then I'd slaughter you in a swimming contest." She replied confidently.

"Is that a challenge?" He asked her.

"Fine." She said, sticking her tongue out at him. "But if I win, you have to do something for me." She finally accepted.

"What?" Logan wondered.

"You have to help me sneak out of here one night." Louise grinned. It had been one thing she had been wanting to do since arriving at the elite private school. She had seen little of the outside world since she was enrolled and wanted to see the town where the school was located. It was nearly impossible because there were guards and cameras everywhere, to prevent the girls from sneaking out. "And you have to take me somewhere cool since you've probably seen more of this town than I have." She added after a short pause.

"The only place I know in this town, besides the school, is my house." He pointed out to her. He had only been in town for a total of two weeks since the school year started. He hadn't seen much other than the school and his house--and the acres upon acres of trees and lonely road that separated the school from the rest of civilization.

Louise shot him a look. "Are you trying to lure me to your house, pervert?"

"I don't want you at my house. It would be way too troublesome." He told her with sincerity. He really didn't want her there. Not when she was a minor, and he could get in big trouble for it. And especially not when he found himself having a few--and involuntary--thoughts about her in that swimsuit.

"Right, Logan. Whatever you say." She winked, and got on her feet. Jumping into the pool, she yelled, "Race you to the end of the pool!"

With that, she began swimming to the other end, leaving the chemistry teacher behind.

-

"I can't believe you still beat me, even though I had a head start." She huffed out a complaint from the other end of the pool. They were by the deep end and she held herself up above the water by holding on to the edge of the pool. From where they were, Louise would see Aimee watching them, her eyes narrowed into a glare. Her jealousy at the attention Logan was giving Louise was evident. She wanted to be the one getting that attention from him.

He grinned at her, proud of himself for beating Louise for once. "I told you I was on the swim team at the University."

Louise shrugged her shoulders. "I thought you were lying."

Logan chuckled, a genuine laugh that one one have thought they weren't arch enemies. "Why would I lie about that?"

"You've always struck me as the kind of guy who lies a lot." She said to him, her voice still rather guarded. For Louise it was more difficult to get past the fact that they had been rivals when they were younger.

"Rematch to the other end?" He suggested.

Louise opened her mouth to speak when she was interrupted by the yelling of someone from outside the pool. It was Maria Valentina who called to her boyfriend while waving a hand above her head to get his attention. "Logan, honey! Get out of the pool already before you start to get pruney!" On her face was a smile, but he could see it in her eyes that she was mad that he was spending time with another woman--even if she was one of his students. She, of course, was not going to start a scene in front of everyone though.

Logan groaned and brought a hand to his face to facepalm himself with embarrassment.

"Better get out of the pool now, honey." Louise poked fun at him.

"Shut up, four ears." He glared at her.
