Wonwoo (Pt. 3)

It's been over a month since they've been staying at the cottage. (Y/n) has returned to her 'I'm only his assistant' stage where she pushes her feelings away. Though Wonwoo has been trying to get her attention.

One Tuesday morning, (y/n) was making breakfast for Wonwoo while he was working on some papers. He couldn't really focus though because she was ignoring him. When she finished, she placed the breakfast in front of him and walked away but he quickly grabbed her wrist, turning her around.

"Sit down and eat", he said.

"I'm not hungry sir. I'm just gonna go to my room", she said.

He paused for a few seconds, staring into her eyes to find a reason why she was acting so cold towards him. Not wanting to upset her, he let go of her wrist and lightly nodded.

She was hoping he would stop her from going but he didn't even look back at her as she walked towards the room. Her hand was right on the doorknob but she didn't turn it. She wanted to go back to the kitchen and yell at him but why? This is just her being melodramatic. Or is she right for acting this way?

"Hey."

(Y/n) was standing in front of the bedroom door as Wonwoo stood a few feet away from her. She turned to face him and waited for him to speak.

"I've been meaning to talk to you about what's gonna happen. Can we talk?", he asked.

She opened the door and walked in with Wonwoo following behind. Sitting down on the bed, she crisscrossed her legs and waited. Wonwoo noticed she wasn't in the mood to talk so he hesitated a bit.

It's not common for Wonwoo to be hesitant about something. But when he's with (y/n), he feels everything.

"I've decided I'm gonna step down from being CEO", he said.

"What? Why?", she asked.

"Because I can tell this whole situation bothers you. Now, I'm gonna go speak to him and make some kind of deal so he won't get near you. And hopefully you'll be back living at your place", he said.

"And where am I gonna work? I need that job to be able to pay for bills and stuff. And isn't being a CEO important to you?", she asked.

"You're more important. Your safety is what I care about. And I can get you a job somewhere else, a much better paying job. You don't have to worry about anything", he said.

"But that's all I do. It's been a month now. It doesn't look like you're putting any effort to stop this. You're just giving up everything because of me, some dumb assistant", she said.

"You're not dumb and you're definitely not just some assistant. I care about you (y/n). I really do. I know you're upset because of something and I really don't know why. What's going on?", he asked, sitting down next to her as he held his hand.

She watched as his thumb caresses hers. Shaking her head, she softly pulled her hand away and looked out the window.

"Sir, I wanna be alone", she said.

"Why do you keep calling me sir? I told you before that we're not at work. I miss you calling me by my name", he said, softly nudging her.

"I'm calling you sir because you are my boss. It doesn't matter where we are, obviously you're always gonna be my boss so what's the point?", she rolled her eyes.

He was still confused on why she was acting cold. He wanted to hold her hand but she just stood up and walked out. Fortunately, he did go after her this time.

"(Y/n)-"

"I wanna be alone okay? Please just leave me alone. You're not making this any easier", she said.

"Making what easier??", he asked.

She stopped walking and turned to face him. He almost bumped into her from her abruptly stopping. Staring deeply into his eyes, she was hoping he'd understand. But as always he just scrunched up his face, still confused.

"Never mind. Imma go for a walk", she said before heading out the door.

~~~
After about an hour and a half of getting some air, (y/n) decided to talk to Wonwoo about her feelings. She returned to the cottage and looked for him but he wasn't there. Then while passing by his room, she noticed his laptop on his desk. She cautiously walked in and looked at the tab that was open. It was some website on information about a man called Kim Hyun-Lee. It showed the address on where he works and what he does.
Then she glanced down where a bunch of notes were written on pieces of paper. She was too focused on reading what Wonwoo had his attention on that she didn't notice who was behind her.
"..he went after him", she said to herself, panicking.
When she turned around, she was punched across the face and fell unconscious.
~~~

Two men placed Wonwoo onto a chair and tied him up. He was still a bit out of it as he was jumped by the two men. His right eye was a bit swollen while blood was drooping from his nose an mouth. He was also spitting up blood and had trouble breathing properly.

Another man came in, dismissing the other two men.  He circled around Wonwoo, smirking evilly as he enjoyed how much in pain he felt.

"You thought you could hide from me? You seriously have no brain whatsoever. You're even more stupid than your father", Hyun-Lee said.

Wonwoo was getting angry as the man talked badly about his father.

"I already told you I'm stepping down as CEO. And I gave you the papers. So what the hell am I doing here?", Wonwoo asked.

Hyun-Lee cleared his throat and placed his hand on the back of Wonwoo's neck, nearly pinching him. He then grabbed a handful of his hair.

"I'm not satisfied knowing my daughter's murderer is out living his life all happy and what not. You deserve punishment. Now I wish I can say that beating the hell out of you will make me happy and excited. But that won't do any good. You know, I hear your assistant can be a handful at times. And I have observed very carefully on how dearly you treat her. It is obvious that my daughter meant nothing to you-"

"I loved your daughter. But what happened isn't my fault. Someone must have messed with the brakes, even the cops said so. They never pointed me out as a suspect", Wonwoo said.

"They should have. But no worries, I'm gonna make sure you suffer for the rest of your life", Hyun-Lee said before calling his men once again.

Wonwoo noticed they were carrying in (y/n). She was still a bit dizzy from being unconscious. They held her arms while Hyun-Lee walked towards her.
Wonwoo started becoming tense and anxious, wanting to undo the rope that kept his wrists tied up.

"Don't you dare touch her", Wonwoo warned him.

"Or what? There's nothing you can do that will stop me. Anyways, I do think she needs a little adjustment. Or maybe more", Hyun-Lee smirked as he raised her head.

Wonwoo kept pulling on the ropes but nothing worked. Hyun-Lee held a knife close to her cheek, making a slight cut. (Y/n) snapped out of it as she felt pain along the side of her face, blood running down her cheek as she yelled. Wonwoo's blood boiled as anger ran through his veins. He had so much anger that he had an urge to take that knife and stab him over and over again.

When Hyun-Lee stepped back, he scoffed at her and grabbed a handful of her hair, pulling it back as he positioned the knife on the other side of her face, not hesitating to make another cut.

Wonwoo did not like hearing (y/n) scream in agony. He watched as he made another cut near her neck.

"Wait! She didn't even have anything to do with it. If you're angry then you should take it out on me, not her", Wonwoo said.

Hyun-Lee stepped back to face Wonwoo and put the knife to the side. He walked towards him and watched as he was breathing heavily.

"I want you to admit what you did", Hyun-Lee said.

Wonwoo took a quick glance at poor (y/n) who had her head hung low. He can see the blood dripping from her face and landing on the ground.

"..it was my fault. I killed your daughter. I take full responsibility of her death", Wonwoo said.

"I don't believe you feel responsible. Maybe you don't feel any regrets at what you did to her. Hmm, what a shame", Hyun-Lee sighed sarcastically and walked back towards (y/n).

"We were arguing during the drive back home. I wasn't paying attention to where I was going and as soon as she noticed there was a stop light coming up, she grabbed the steering wheel and turned it the other way so I wouldn't crash into the car in front of us. But I ended up driving into the opposite side and a car crashed onto the side she was in. If I could take it back, I would", Wonwoo said.

"But that's the problem...you can't", Hyun-Lee said before stabbing (y/n) right on her stomach.

Wonwoo wasn't gonna let her die right then and there. He kept moving his hands, trying to loosen up the ropes. Meanwhile, the two men dropped (y/n) onto the ground, letting her bleed to death. Hyun-Lee laughed evilly, clapping his hands as Wonwoo struggled to free himself.

His excitement didn't last long though as the cops busted through the doors, pointing their guns towards the three men. They held up their hands over their heads as the other cops attended Wonwoo and (y/n).

"Are you Jeon Wonwoo?", one of the cops asked as they untied him.

"Yes", he answered.

"Alright, he's good. He's the one who said to track his phone", the cop said to his partner.

When they untied him, Wonwoo sprinted towards (y/n) but two of the cops stopped him. The paramedics were already helping her. Even though she's receiving help, he really wanted to check on her.

"You can't see her. She losing too much blood so they're taking her to the hospital", the cop said.

"Well can I at least ride in the ambulance with them? I can't leave her alone", Wonwoo said.

The cop talked to one of the paramedics and asked if Wonwoo can join them. The paramedic gave a quick nod, causing him to instantly get into the ambulance.

During the ride to the hospital, Wonwoo couldn't stop staring at all the blood. He carefully held her hand but as soon as their hands made contact, the machine started beeping.

~~~
Wonwoo was impatiently waiting near the ER doors, walking back and forth. It's been over an hour and he hasn't heard anything back.
"Sir, you're in the way. You must sit down", one of the nurses said.
He ignored her. He didn't care about what anyone said. He just wants (y/n) to be alright.
"Sir-"
"I'm not gonna sit down so don't ask me again", Wonwoo snapped, glaring at the nurse.
While having a commotion with the nurse, the doctor walked through the doors and towards Wonwoo.
"She's stable. She did lose a lot of blood so she's gonna be weak for a few days. We're gonna move her to a room where you can see her. The nurse right here will give you the room number as soon as everything is settled", the doctor smiled before walking away.
Wonwoo sighed in relief, letting his body slide down against the wall. He glanced up at the nurse who had her eyebrow raised, shaking her head before getting back to work.
Once the nurse gave him the room number (y/n) was in, he quickly went up to see her. He hesitated to enter as he stood in front of the door. Guilt is what he felt. This is all his fault. She's in the hospital because of him.
He entered the room and smiled softly as (y/n) was sleeping. He sat down on the chair next to the bed and sighed, glancing at her hand. His hand twitched, wanting to feel hers. All he could think about was the knife and the blood, her face when he made the cuts on her cheeks.
His head hung low, closing his eyes while running his fingers through his hair. The machines and the needles, it's just making it more realistic.
After a few minutes, (y/n) lightly groaned, causing Wonwoo to lift up his head.
"(Y/n)?", he called out.
She blinked repeatedly, trying to fix her vision.
"Hey", he said softly.
She looked around the room but flinched as she felt pain on her stomach.
"Try not to move too much. You're gonna be in a lot of pain", he said.
He helped her get comfortable so she wouldn't feel anything. She kept feeling the gauze that covered the cuts on her cheeks, worrying about whether it'll leave scars. He grabbed her hands and put them down, leaving his hands on hers.
"(Y/n), I'm really sorry. This is all my fault. The last thing I wanted was for you to get hurt. I tried to protect you but that just did the opposite. But hey, at least you still have a job right? With him in jail, I'm back as CEO and-"
"And I'm back as your assistant", she said.
"..yeah I mean unless I can find something else for you to do. But basically it's as if nothing changed. It's great, right?", he asked.
"..sure...whatever", she mumbled as she looked away.
He noticed her eyes tearing up.
"Hey..what's wrong?", he asked, placing a finger under her chin so she can face him.
"You keep saying that everything will go back to the way it was but...you kissed me and you keep acting as if you like me. How is that fair to me? You're making me like you and you don't even care", she said, rolling her eyes.
After hearing what she said, he chuckled and looked down.
"What's so funny?", she asked.
"(Y/n), you're wrong. I care so much about you. And if I didn't care, I would've been home by now and not here. I love you (y/n). I really do. And I'm sorry if I made you feel like I didn't care about you. Is that why you weren't talking to me?", he asked.
She nodded softly. He sighed and sat closer to her.
"I'm so sorry. I promise it won't be like that. But let's just focus on you recovering, okay?", he smiled softly and kissed her hand.
~One Year Later~
"Can you make 50 copies of these?", (y/n) asked her assistant as she handed the papers to her.
She headed back towards her office, looking down at her nails to notice the polish chipping off. When she entered her office, a pair of arms pulled her back while closing the door.
Wonwoo had her pinned against the wall, his hands on her waist and her hands on his shoulders.
"You scared me", she said, softly hitting his chest.
"Am I that hideous?", he teased.
"Very", she joked.
He scoffed playfully and placed his hands on her cheeks, pulling her in for a kiss. She lightly pushed him away, smiling as her cheeks turned red.
"So? How is it being manager so far?", he asked.
"It's exhausting. Although having an assistant really takes loads off of my back", she said.
"Just don't go falling in love with her", he joked.
"Hilarious. You're using us as an example. Anyways, I have to get back to work", she said.
She walked passed him but he pulled her back.
"I have something for you", he said.
"What is it?", she asked.
"You have to look for it", he smiled.
"Ugh, I don't have time to play games. Just show me what it is", she groaned.
"Come on, I'll tell you if you're hot or cold", he begged, pouting his lips which he never does.
She rolled her eyes and went over to her desk.
"Cold", he said.
She groaned and walked towards the bookshelf.
"Cold", he said.
She turned around and walked towards him.
"Warm", he said.
She stopped walking and wondered if it was him. Walking closer to him, she can see him smiling even wider.
"Warmer", he said.
As soon as she stopped in front of him, she placed her hands on his chest.
"You're exactly where you're supposed to be", he whispered.
She raised an eyebrow and put her hands into his pockets but there was nothing. She then checked the inside pockets of his coat and felt something. The material felt soft. When she took it out, she noticed it was a small box.
"W-What is this?", she asked.
He took the small box from her hand and opened it, revealing a beautiful ring. A soft gasp escaped from her lips, tears blurring her vision.
"(Y/n), I love you so much. And I know we talked about our future together. It's not exactly how we planned it but I just couldn't wait. I really wanna spend the rest of my life with you (y/n). I know most people don't mean it when they say it but I do. I don't see myself with anyone else. You're the one", he said.
A huge smiled appeared on her face, tears streaming down her face. She quickly nodded and waited for him to put the ring on her finger. When he did, she jumped on him and kissed him. Before she can pull away, he placed his hand on the back of her head, deepening the kiss.
"Someone's gonna see us", she chuckled, feeling embarrassed.
"Then let's close the door and continue kissing", he smirked as he put a lock on the door.
"I have to continue working..and so do you", she said, pushing him away.
He groaned and tried to get a hold of her waist but she slapped his hand away.
"Fine. But tonight I'm taking you to dinner to celebrate, okay?", he held her hand, pushing a few strands of hair behind her ear.
"Okay", she smiled.
He kissed her cheek before walking towards the door.
"I love you (y/n)", he said.
"I love you too", she answered.
"I love you more", he smirked.
"Wonwoo", she laughed.
"Okay I'm leaving. But I do love you more though", he smiled, waving a kiss before leaving.
She chuckled and sat down on the chair in front of her desk, smiling down at the engagement ring on her finger. She couldn't really focus on work because all she could think about is dinner and the ring and Wonwoo. She can't wait to start a new life with him.
