DK (Pt. 1)
It was your first day of dance class. You were quite excited. New school, new teachers, and hopefully a new you. You sat down on the wooden floor and stretched before the coach arrived. A few other dancers were around you, talking to each other and stretching as well. You felt someone sit down next to you but paid no attention to that person. Not a few moments later, the coach walked in and welcomed everyone. You were the only one that was new to the class so he introduced you and offered you a break since you didn't know any of the choreographies that they have worked on. You have experience but on another level. You watched the class work on their choreography and even tried copying some moves. It wasn't that hard, you were pretty flexible and quick.
When class was over, the coach explained about having to practice almost 80% of your free time to be able to catch up. You had no worries since you've practiced 90% of your time before attending.
You decided to stay a little longer and practice but not for hip hop. You've been in gymnastics for almost your entire life. You enjoyed it but you had to try something different. You did have to admit that you missed it.
"Wow, I didn't think you'd be that talented."
You heard a voice behind you. It was a guy from the dance class. He had his bag slung over his shoulder but dropped it as soon as he was inside.
"I used to be in gymnastics. I don't do that anymore", you said.
"So why keep practicing for it? You must really love it", he said.
"Sorry but what is it that you want?", you asked.
"Ah I just came here to practice. I'm Seokmin by the way", he smiled, extending his hand forward.
You hesitantly shook it and watched as he walked over to the other side of the room. You continued practicing but couldn't help but glance over at him. He was really smooth when it comes to dance.
"Need help?", he asked, noticing you've been watching him for the past three minutes.
"Um..well coach said I need to catch up so do you mind if you can teach me?", you asked.
"Sure", he smiled.
Both of you practiced for almost three hours until he decided it was time for him to go home. As he packed up his things, you were still going over the choreography.
"Are you not going home?", he asked.
"No. Not now. I don't want to forget anything. It's best if I keep practicing", you said.
"Alright. I'll see you tomorrow at class", he smiled before leaving.
Your phone beeped twice, meaning you received a text message. Your grandma has been calling you and left three messages.
Grandma: Are you practicing?
.
Grandma: It's dinner time. Where are you? Don't stay out too late.
.
Grandma: Have you eaten? Remember you must have three meals a day. Skip any and you'll be in trouble.
You sighed and put your phone away. You practiced for another two hours until the janitor came in and asked kindly if you can let him do his job. You apologized and packed up all of your things. Once you walked out of the building, you felt a bit dizzy. You shook it off and went home.
Your grandma scolded you, saying she had been worried. You apologized to her and kissed her cheek. Knowing how much she over-cleans, you took the broom from her hands and swept.
"Did you eat? I made your favorite soup", your grandma asked.
"I did. Thanks for asking grandma but I'm 19. You don't have to keep looking out for me", you said.
"What? You know you're not capable of taking care of yourself. I love you too much darling. Now give me the broom and go get some rest so you'll have enough energy for class tomorrow", she said.
You softly smiled and headed towards your room. You stopped before the hallway and turned around.
"Thanks grandma. I know we're struggling with money yet you're paying for my classes. I promise I will get a job to help you", you said.
"Nonsense. Just focus on your career. We'll be alright", she smiled.
You walked up to your room and lounged your body onto your bed. You have to put a smile whenever you're with your grandma because she has been your rock ever since your parents have abandoned you. She's the only one who cares about you.

A few weeks pass. Seokmin has been helping you practice and even got recognized by your coach. He said you've made an excellent improvement and is even deciding to put you in a different class. All those hours of practice really helped out, especially with Seokmin around.
After three months, the coach decided to put you in a different class. Although the class you were put in was very different from the one you were in, Seokmin still helped you.
"Hey, I was thinking...do you maybe wanna go hiking with me?", Seokmin asked as you stretched.
"Hiking?..sure", you said.
He smiled to himself and started dancing first. You watched to see if he needed any improvements but you had to admit he was better than you.
"You should be a coach", you said, causing him to laugh.
"Nah, I'm not that good", he stated.
He sat down next to you. He noticed something different about you.
"Are you okay? You look pale", he asked.
"I'm fine. I get like that sometimes", you said.
"Do you wanna get something to eat? There's this restaurant near here that makes delicious dumplings", he said.
"I'm not hungry but thanks", you forced a smile.
Later that evening, you followed him to his car. He drove up to the mountains and parked his car. There were hardly any people there which made you a bit more comfortable.
"Are you sure you're okay?", he asked.
You were a bit nauseous but you pushed it off, smiling as you caught up to him.
"You worry too much", you chuckled.
"Well that's because I care", he said.
He nudged you and grabbed your hand, causing your eyes to widen. Sure you've been getting closer everyday and maybe felt something towards him. You couldn't help it.
"You're blushing", he teased, smirking as he poked your cheek.
"No I'm not. It's the heat", you shrugged his hand off.
"But it's 59 degrees out. How is it hot?", he asked.
You can feel sweat rolling down your neck and face. You quickly wiped it away and walked up the mountain. You slightly tripped due to dizziness you were feeling but continued to walk. Seokmin was walking before you so he didn't notice how bad you looked at the moment. When he glanced back, he quickly ran to you as you fell to the ground. He carried you back to his car and drove off.
"I should take you to the hospital", he said.
"No..don't. Just take me home please. My grandma knows what to do", you said, feeling out of breath.
"Are you sure? I really think it's best if-"
"I'm sure!", you said a bit louder.
When you arrived, he carried you inside while your grandma followed, worried about your state. He carefully placed you down on your bed before your grandma took over. He waited in the living room until your grandma walked down.
"Is she okay?", he asked.
"Yes she's sleeping now. Thank you for bringing her here safely. You must be that friend she's always talking about. I'm really glad she has a friend like you", your grandma smiled.
"On the way over here, she mentioned that you knew what to do. It's as if this has happened before", he said.
Your grandma slightly frowned and sat down on the other couch.
"You have been the only friend that has stuck around. So I trust you won't tell anybody about this. She has an illness. And not a very common illness. Her body lacks nutrients. Every time she tries to eat whole meals, her body rejects it and she becomes sick so the doctor recommended medication that will help but recently she's been ignoring the doctor's orders. She said her medication causes her to feel sleepy and it wears out her energy. See, she really loved doing gymnastics but her old coach dismissed her because she said she lacks energy. (Y/n) didn't want to give it up. She decided to go ahead and sign up for dance classes. She made friends but as soon as they found out about her illness, they just stopped talking to her. She felt like it was her fault", your grandma said.
Seokmin listened to every word that came out of her mouth, feeling bad that you were going through that.
"Her parents thought it was too much for them to handle so I decided to take her into my care. I don't regret it one bit. And I know you're not that type of person that will just leave. I can sense it", she said.
Seokmin couldn't sleep that night. He thought about all the struggles you went through.
