Third Year

Lily Evans picked at her whole wheat blueberry muffin, while doing her Charms homework.

She had an essay do today, and because she had been comforting Dorcas Meadows after her breakup with Remus, she hadn't gotten to finish it last night.

In Lily's opinion, Dorcas had overreacted, and basically caused the breakup. She should've  known it would cause an argument if she said she didn't trust him because he wouldn't tell her why he had needed to go home over the weekend. If Remus didn't want to tell her, he didn't have to, dating or not.

Unfortunately for Lily, there was a girl code which clearly stated that you never tell a crying girl that it's her fault. It doesn't matter if she murdered someone, you bring her cookies and you tell her that everyone else involved in the situation is a jerk.

"Morning Evans," Peter Pettigrew  said, as he sat down across from her.

Lily sighed. Peter was a perfectly fine person, but she had an essay about cheering charms to complete and she didn't have time to make small talk with him.

"G'morning Peter," she mumbled, as she picked up her quill and bent over to write down what the negative side effects of the charm were.

"I see someone didn't finish their essay in time," Remus Lupin said, plopping himself down next to her.

"Yup," Lily replied, popping the p. "And it's all your fault."

"What? How is this my fault?" Remus asked, completely baffled.

"If you hadn't dumped Dorcas I wouldn't have had to comfort her last night, and I would've had time to complete my essay."

"Then the problem is Dorcas being a complete cry baby," Potter said, joining the conversation.

Lily went into momma bear mode. Another part of the girl code is not letting someone else insult her. If Dorcas wasn't here to defend herself, it was Lily's job as her roommate.

Lily rolled her eyes. "Of course someone like you  would say that."

James immediately got defensive. "What's that supposed to mean?"

"Well, let's just say, there's a reason you don't have a girlfriend."

All the marauders made eye contact, and James couldn't help but smile. The situation couldn't be more perfect for him to make his move.

"So what do you say, Evans? Why don't you fix that?"

Lily's eyes widened in shock, and the quill fell out of her hand. "What did you just say?"

"You heard me. Wanna go to Hogsmeade with me this weekend or what?"

Lily finally recovered from the shock. "Of course I don't! You're the most disgusting person I've ever met, and the only place I'd go with you is the zoo, so that I could feed you to the lions."

Lily had just unknowingly turned this into a challenge, and James wasn't going to back down.

"Really Lilykinz?" He said, sliding closer to her on the bench at the Gryffindor table. "Is that really what you think of me?"

At this point, they were sitting so close to each other that if she moved the tiniest bit they would be touching.

"What are you doing Potter?" Lily asked, feeling extremely uncomfortable.

"Oh nothing much," he responded casually. "Just this."

With that, James Potter grabbed Lily's face, and kissed her.

It took Lily a full four seconds to realize what was going on and react, making it seem like she might have enjoyed that, but her reaction showed that she didn't.

Lily slapped him so hard he fell off the bench.

"Never. Ever. Come. Near. Me. Again." Lily yelled at the fourteen year old boy who was shaking himself off from the dust on the floor.

With that, Lily stormed out of the room, upset that Potter had now had his lips on her more times than any other boy
