Lily Evans sat on the edge of her seat, watching the last quidditch match of the year.

Despite the rain, the whole school had turned up to see the match, seeing as it was probably the most important match of the year.

It was Gryffindor versus Slytherin and if Gryffindor won by more than one hundred and eighty points they would take the cup.

It was a tall order, but if anyone could do it, it was the Gryffindor team.

People had laughed at their team at the beginning of the year, when they saw that they had three second years on the team, but they had stopped laughing once Gryffindor destroyed Racenclaw in the first match of the season.

Marlene and Sirius were the best beaters a team could ask for. They worked together so well, and their aim was impeccable.

And as much as Lily hated admitting it, James Potter was one of the best chasers the school had. He managed to always get passed the keeper, and pass the quaffle back and forth without slowing down.

Gryffindor was currently in the lead by thirty points which meant they would win the match if they caught the snitch right now, but they would lose the cup.

Unfortunately the snitch had chosen that moment to appear, and since the two seekers were neck and neck, if the Gryffindor seeker didn't catch the snitch, the Slytherin seeker would.

Lily had almost lost hope, when she saw James Potter zooming across the pitch.

The while stadium held their breath. If Potter made this shot, and Brown caught the snitch, Gryffindor would win the cup.

They happened almost simultaneously. The moment Brown's hands closed around the snitch, the quaffle went zooming through the middle hoop.

The whole stadium started roaring and every Gryffindor ran into the pitch to celebrate.

Just as Lily got there, James landed, and overcome with joy, she threw her arms around him, shouted "you did it," and kissed him on the cheek.

It only lasted for half a second, and James was too shocked to react. By the time he unfroze Lily was already hugging Marlene and Sirius was raising one eyebrow at him.

"Well, that was quite the sight," he said, as if he was commenting on the weather, and not on seeing the two enemies little encounter.

"Oh shut up," James said, but you could tell that he was blushing ever so slightly.

And with that, like the teenage boys they were, they moved on and discussed James's fantastic assist earlier.
