Fourth Year

"Mar, hurry up, my parents are already here!" Lily Evans yelled to her best friend.

It was the last day of school, and they had just arrived at King's Cross Station.

"Come help me, I just need to grab my trunks," Marlene called back.

Lily started fast walking to Marlene, but was stopped by James Potter's idea of a joke.

Lily went falling down, after James had stuck his foot out and tripped her, and would've hit the ground, had James not caught her.

"Guess you really fell for me ," he said, smirking.

Lily rolled her eyes, and pushed his arms off of her.

"Grow up Potter."

"No thanks."

Lily was about to say something snarky, but Petunia cut her off.

"Can you stop pretending you have friends and just get in the car?"

Lily was shocked. Not by the fact that Petunia had insulted her, because she was used to that, but because Petunia had acknowledged that they were related in public.

Lily pushed herself out of Potter's arms to face her sister.

"Trust me, I have ten times the amount of friends that you have."

"Yeah," James said, backing her up, and for once, Lily didn't feel like telling him to shut up. "Everyone in school likes Lily."

Sirius Black walked up to join, slinging one arm around Lily, and one around James. "Mess with Lily, mess with us."

By the time he finished saying that, Remus, Peter, Alice, Dorcas, and Marlene had all joined them.

Petunia rolled her eyes. "Whatever, you got some freaks to pity a bigger freak. Not that impressive. And it's not like you have a boyfriend or anything, like I do.

It shouldn't have bothered Lily that much, and maybe it didn't, but when her friends were around she was more confident.

"Who said I don't?" Lily retorted, resting her head on James's shoulder, since he had finally outgrown her. "Petunia, meet James."

The gryffindors all hid their shock well, pretending this was an everyday occurrence. The same could not be said for Petunia.

"You-but-he-I-" she sputtered, pointlessly.

"Yes, well thank you for those inspirational words, but my parents are here, and probably wondering what's holding me," James said, his signature smirk appearing.

"Bye James, have a good summer," Lily said, and before she could remember that this was a terrible idea, she kissed him.

Petunia's jaw dropped, as did Peter's, which resulted in Remus putting his hand over Peter's mouth.

"Well, let's go Tuney," Lily said, and with that, she lifted her bags and got into the car, where her parents were waiting.

James Potter just walked to his car, dazed, confused, and desperately trying to come up with a plan that would result in him tasting that cherry lip gloss again.
