V. Seven Deadly Sins: Dream Jumpers
The day should have started out normal enough. Summer was quickly coming to an end, and to have one last fun fiasco, the HetaSquad had decided to have a sleepover, followed by a trip to Cedar Point. It should have been a blast, considering each girl had also invited their country friends to attend.
America, Poland, Romano, Spain, Canada, Russia, France, Japan, Prussia, Australia, New Zealand, China, Hong Kong, Seborga, Italy, and Mexico all stood waiting in front of Alfred's house. They had agreed that this would be the best meeting place, because Alfred lived the closest to Cedar Point. They were beginning to get impatient, however, because the girls were running late.
"Uuuuggghhhhhhh..." Alfred groaned, rubbing his face with his hands in frustration. "They should be here by now!" He said, taking out his phone and typing into it angrily.
Yào raised a brow. "What are you doing?"
"Calling Shelby." He answered with determination, holding his phone up to his ear.
"If she didn't answer the first ten times, she's not going to answer now, dumbass." Lovino muttered.
Matthew shifted nervously. "I'm starting to get concerned. Someone should have contacted us by now. I think something's wrong."
"If something was wrong, Thao would have already let us know!" Feliciano chirped cheerily.
"JUAN!" A sudden shout sounded from down the street, and Mexico turned in surprise, the other countries eyes following his gaze to Jenna, who was racing down the street, her countenance that of panic.
"Jenna?" Juan raised a brow in confusion as she arrived to the group, panting for air. "What's going on? Where are the others?"
"They-" Jenna's asthma seemed to be getting the best of her as she struggled to speak. "They won't wake up!"
Cooper's eyes widened. "What?" He asked in shock.
"Have you tried smacking them?" Russia inquired.
"I've tried everything! Smacking them, shaking them, pouring water on them, playing the sounds of police sirens on the speaker- nothing works! They didn't even flinch!" Jenna exclaimed.
Francis's brows furrowed. "Miss Texas, you must take us to them immediately!"
Alfred and Matthew somehow managed to pile everyone into their two cars, and they made a fevered drive to Shelby's house, where the girls had all spent the night. Jenna threw open the door wildly, causing it to bash against the wall, and ran inside, leading the countries downstairs to where the girls had slept.
Most of the girls were sprawled out all over the floor, with a couple on two different couches. True to the Texan's word, all the girls were dead asleep, and it seemed they were barely breathing.
"They won't wake up, no matter what." Jenna explained in a devastated voice. "See, watch this." She stated, moving so that she stood next to Thaovy, who was one of the girls who had managed to snag a spot on the couch. "NINJAGO IS THE WORST SHOW IN THE HISTORY OF TELEVISION!" She screamed. Thaovy didn't even stir, her eyes remaining closed and her chest rising only slightly with shallow breaths that were few and far between.
"She doesn't look so good..." Spain ventured, his eyes sparkling with concern.
"None of them do." Poland agreed, poking Dreamz, who was sprawled out on the floor, with his boot. "They look sick."
Japan bent down and pressed two fingers to Annalise's neck. "Her pulse is faint. And her skin is cold."
Hong Kong moved Sammi's hair out of her face, looking both frustrated and scared. "What the hell is happening to them?"
Cooper's thick brows furrowed. "I feel like I've seen this somewhere before..." He said, before offering Jenna his arm. "Here, grab on." He prompted. Jenna looked at him skeptically, before taking his arm. Cooper closed his eyes, and Jenna suddenly found all the breath being extracted from her lungs, the pressure extreme all around her as she found her feet lifted off the ground. With a snap and a flash, she stumbled to a wooden floor, in what seemed like a dim library, dark and seemingly untouched, save for a large, sparkling mirror leaned up against the wall.
"What... Was that?" Jenna asked in disbelief. "Did we just Apparate? Like in Harry Potter?"
"Something like that." Cooper shrugged, though he could not suppress a smile. "I've been practicing my magic... Some people have a lot of doubt in my skills."
"Aka the whole HetaSquad?" Jenna ventured.
Cooper sighed. "Yes. Plus, I'm trying to prove to England that I belong in the Magic Trio. And I can only do that if I stop making all types of mistakes with my magic."
"Fair enough." Jenna stated. "But why are we here? Is this going to help us figure out what happened to the other girls?"
"I believe so. This is England's store room. He's been working on really cleaning it out and organizing his works and magic research. Now it's pretty clean and easy to look through." Cooper's green eyes scanned the wall of books. "I've been coming here a lot to study, and I feel like I've read something rather recently that describes pretty accurately what we're seeing happen to the girls..." He picked out a book, skimming through it, before putting it back, and grabbing another one. He scanned through it for a second, before stopping on a page and reading it over. "Here it is!" He exclaimed, turning so Jenna could read as well.
It wasn't a textbook, like Jenna had sort of expected it to be. It was a mess of cursive writing and colored ink drawings. In big letters at the top of the page was written INTERFECTOREM SOMNIA in bold print. Below was a slanted paragraph in small, red print.
Dream jumpers are spirits of Hell sent up to damn those they prey victim on. Each one specializes in poisoning the minds of those predisposed to each of the Seven Deadly Sins: Lust, Gluttony, Greed, Sloth, Wrath, Envy, and Pride. They suck the life force out of their prey while further digging them into the hole of the according vice, so that once their victim's body can no longer sustain the presence of the spirit, their soul is damned to Hell.
"Oh my God." Jenna whispered, her eyes wide. "These things are killing them."
Once a dream jumper enters the mind scape of the victim, it only takes a day for the victim's body give out. To extract the dream jumper, one must enter the mind scape and engage the soul of the infected. Only once the soul is weakened to the verge of death will the spirit be able to be chased away.
"Holy guacamole, what did I just read?" Jenna demanded, her eyes going over the words several more times. "We have to... Almost kill them... To keep them from dying?"
"That's about the gist of it." New Zealand nodded, continuing to read. "The rest of it is a mix of Celtic and Latin. It describes a recipe for a potion that induces us to a state of mind that will allow us to enter the mind scape, the charm to banish the dream jumpers away, and a healing potion recipe to bring the soul back to health. Smart. Arthur thought of everything."
"So they can be saved?" Jenna inquired, her eyes wide.
"Yes, but it's going to take a lot of effort to save them in time." Cooper said grimly. "We have to get started right now."

"So... after disappearing for four hours with Jenna," Mexico began bitterly, the other countries sitting on the couches anxiously as New Zealand and Jenna stood in front of them, "did you figure out what was going on?"
"Yep, and we even came with supplies." Cooper stated, Jenna showing off the bag filled with bottles of potions.
Cooper debriefed the group on the information they had found in the book, while Jenna dug through the bag and got out the 10 potions that had a blue tint. After the information had been explained, France's brows furrowed as he eyed the potions. "There are only ten potions."
"We only had enough time to make one batch." Cooper explained in a remorseful voice. "Jenna and I each get one- I'll be there to perform the expelling incarnation, while Jenna will keep the healing potions and the book handy. So that leaves eight potions for you guys to hash out."
"I'm going." Alfred stated, eyeing everyone harshly so no one would object.
"Me too." Mexico stood. "No way I'm letting Jenna go without me. What if those dream things are dangerous?"
"I'm going too." Japan said with determination in his tone.
"Me too, eh." Canada breathed, setting Kumajirou on the floor.
"I am going, so suck it." Romano snapped.
"I'm going too!" Australia, Prussia, Seborga, Italy, China, and Hong Kong all said at the same time.
Cooper shifted awkwardly. "There's only three potions left, guys."
Hong Kong sighed, placing a hand on his brother's shoulder. "You go, teacher. Sammi needs you most."
Prussia and Australia glared at each other, before Jett grumbled that the albino should go since he's Dreamz's boyfriend.
Italy and Seborga glanced over at each other sadly, before Italy smiled. "You should go, Sebastian. You're a lot braver than me."
"Soooo, are we decided?" Jenna asked. "Because we gotta get a move on if we want to save them in time."
The countries nodded. The ten voyagers grabbed their bottle of potion, glancing at their respective mortal friend, before throwing back the liquid. Within seconds, their bodies hit the floor.
The remaining counties stared at them in shock, before Jett spoke. "I'm gonna draw on their faces."
"Brilliant." Hong Kong agreed.
