Seven
Just walking into the library gave you chills. Not the chills you get when you're nervous or cold, but the kind that when you get so excited, you can't contain everything inside.
You almost screamed at how many books with beautiful bindings there were.
Namjoon watched your whole person light up as you stepped into the room. He smiled and looked around, nodding in approval of the room.
"I take it you like this room then?" He remarked with a chuckle. You rounded on him with a shocked look.
"Oh no your majesty..." You paused, "I love it! I absolutely adore books!" You exclaimed, throwing your arms out in a grand gesture. It was only when he gave you a look that was both shocked and trying to contain his composure, that you realized how silly you must look to him. You felt your face heat up and you quickly brought your hands down. You heard him chuckle again and you looked to see him walking to the nearest shelf and touch some of the books. His eyes turned wistful as he looked at you.
"Don't worry. This room is one of my favorites too. I spent a lot of my childhood and growing up years in here. While Jin was out with Mother gardening, and Jimin down with the chef cooking; and while Yoongi was out taking walks, or making music, and Jungkook singing or talking with Father; and Hoseok and Taehyung out riding horses, I would spend my days locked up in here reading book after book, and studying and studying till my professors thought my head would burst." He chuckled, rolling his eyes. I smiled with him.
'That basically sums up my own life.' I thought, thinking back to how much I read on a daily basis.
"So, all that's to say I'm very glad you like it in here." Namjoon said, looking out one of the windows in the room wistfully.
You smiled, watching the wise king reflect on his memories.
You wondered if he possibly regretted spending his time alone in the castle without his brothers, his days filled with his book characters and professors as his closest friends. You thought about how you often regretted spending your days inside reading, missing human contact once and a while, despite your awkwardness.
"Well, I believe we should move on my lady. We have plenty of rooms, but not much time." Namjoon suddenly spoke, turning to look at you with a smile.
You blinked, taking one last look around the room. As you did, you wondered if you would be here as often as you thought you would have, but the more you thought about it, the more you realized that maybe human interaction would be worth a little more than the books.

Namjoon escorted you through the halls, explaining which doors led to which places, showing you a few rooms here and there.
He showed you the kitchen, the main rooms like a meeting room and the main bathroom for visitors, the hall that held the king's rooms should you ever need them, and a tower with a view of the land; which you enjoyed standing there with Namjoon and watching the sun set.
"It truly is beautiful here." You remarked with a happy sigh. The sunset was a brilliant orange, red and purple mix. The streets below were filled with both dark, smooth shadows and the searching rays of the fading light, casting shadows all around. The people below in the village, were slowing their activities, the shop owners cleaning up their wears.
"It really is. I've seen this all my life and I still don't get tired of it." Namjoon replied, a small smile playing on his lips.
You looked over to him, a question sliding into your mind that you hadn't thought about until now.
"Your majesty, how do seven of you rule one country."
Namjoon looked at you with curiosity.
"My, such a random question my lady." He chuckled softly, placing his hand on the edge of the tower. He leaned again it and looked towards you, the sunset illuminating his silhouette, making him look ever so majestic.
"I'm sorry I-" You began, hoping you hadn't offended him at your suddenness.
"No, no, don't worry my lady. The seven of us rule together, as per our father's request. He believed that we each hold an important quality for the kingdom, and wanted us each to be strong in that quality. Some of us are good with the people, while others do better at strategizing or composing. We rule over a united kingdom, and similar to politics I know come from your land, it's like... checks and balances I believe. If one of us gets out of line, the rest of us have the ability to vote or overpower the king who isn't doing well. Each of us on our own dont have any more power than the others, so it turns into a system if anything goes wrong. And since we are brothers, we do fight, but we always, ALWAYS come to a resolve."
He smiled as he finished and you stood there amazed. It was honestly a fantastic system, and really did make the most sense for a kingdom.
"Wow, that is very impressive. I honestly think that works a lot better than anything I've ever heard." You remarked, watching Namjoon smile.
"Yes, well father wanted to make sure the kingdom stood strong for a time."
"I believe that it will. You all seem very capable and I've only been here a couple of hours." You said letting out a small laugh.
Namjoon gave a proud smile and nodded, letting a silence signify his thanks.
"Oh uhm, sorry your majesty for jumping to yet another question..."
"No it's quite alright my lady. Go ahead, ask away."
"Okay." You said sheepishly, realizing how spastic you must sound to him.
"So, uhm, how did you know about checks and balances from my world?"
"Ah you forget the girl before you. She came from America, the land far away from ours, and the one which we assume you come from too, since she described it as a huge land with many people there. She told us of the workings of the land and the government, and she mentioned something about other lands and kingdoms too, but she didn't really go into detail. Her expertise was not in geography she liked to say, so we don't know too much about the place you come from. We really only know the kingdom of America."
Namjoon looked at you, seeming hungry for more information on the world you came from, but you were interrupted by a guard coming to the tower and standing there until Namjoon acknowledged him.
"Yes, Kol?" Namjoon said, standing up and moving to your side.
"I'm here to tell you dinner is ready, and the patrol reports nothing out of the ordinary. A small squabble happened in the village but it was quickly resolved by one of the guards. It was only a couple of boys fighting over an injustice one did to the other."
"Thank you Kol. You are dismissed." The guard nodded and bowed before leaving.
"Well my lady, I suppose our conversation must be cut short. However, I would love to continue it sometime soon as I'd enjoy hearing about America and the other lands." Namjoon gave you a disappointed look, but he finished with offering you his arm and a smile.
"Of course, when we have the time I can tell you more about it, your majesty." You said, giving him a slight curtsey before taking his arm.
The two of you walked down the stairs and into the hallway before turning and heading towards the room you had started in with the long table.
Namjoon paused outside the door and faced you, a small smile apparent on his lips as he began to speak.
"Lady Y/n, I must tell you, you are very welcome here. Though we are not used to having strangers from other worlds come here, I assure you, you shall be granted every advantage, every thing you need here. And if, though I greatly doubt it and it is much too early for you to make this decision, you decide to stay with us, we would be quite happy to have you here. I know only I am saying this, and it's only been a short time, but we wish to make your stay as decent as possible for you. Never worry about coming to me to ask for something."
You stood there slightly shocked at his sudden statement, but you felt yourself relax a little. Your fears of being killed by these men were already fading, and were being replaced by hope that being here would live up to the expectations you'd had about living as royalty. You knew you werent ready to say you were going to stay, but while you were here, you felt assured that you would not only enjoy your stay, but learn how things truly were here and how to be apart of the culture.
"Thank you, your majesty, that means more to me than you know." You replied giving him a smile and another small curtsey. He nodded in return and you took his arm once again, the guards at the door opening it for the two of you as you proceeded into the dining room.
"Ah and here they are." Jin remarked from the head of the table. "Just in time."

Oh... my goodness you guys. It's been like a year since I even looked at this story, let alone write more of it.
I was going through today and I decided to read it and I have no idea why I abandoned it. It's a good start. My writing style has changed a bit since the first couple chapters, but I decided to write more of this book today.
I'm going to upload this chapter, in hopes that people will come back and read it, and if they do, and I get good feedback, then I might just make this my summer side project.
I'm going to tag GeekiePerson jjkstar and TaeKookMinGi old avid fans of this story... to tell me what they think lol.
None of you have to read it, just saying.
But thank you guys for reading, and I hope you enjoyed...
Wow it's been a while lol...
Aluna💙
