Before her Games, Johanna had people she would fight for. People she would kill for, even. After, she was the only one left.

Leila Nairn never would've bet on District 7 until Johanna Mason entered the picture. She usually ended up placing her money on a Career tribute that was interesting at the interviews, or looked stronger than the others, or even one year who was just wearing the nicest dress at the Tribute parade. She wasn't much of a betting woman anyway, if she was being honest, but something about Johanna Mason intrigued her.

17 year old capitolite Leila Nairn is bored and ambitious. When the opportunity comes to be part of an elite training program for Hunger Games stylists, Leila jumps at the chance to shadow District 7's stylist as part of her prep team. Meanwhile, Johanna's name is pulled out of the big glass ball and the two girls meet in a collision that will change both of their lives. Despite Johanna's tears and snivelling, Leila is certain there's more to the girl than she reveals, and is determined to find out exactly what.
