Chapter 19
Hazel rubbed her eyes and fell asleep in the pilot's chair in the cockpit, an idea getting to her head. Perhaps she could contact her father and stepmother in the dream world to prepare an area that would be safe for a Vasioner. In the meantime, they could catch up with the HyperNovas and attempt to divert them towards Vasion. If there was a way to turn off their navigation systems from the StrataNova, that could make things much easier, unless they were using earlier models, which did not have the navigation. Hazel wanted to assume they used the newest models so as to not cause a possible problem.
She focused all of her energy and diverted it out of her mind and into the realm of dreams. The only thing she needed was to find a possible solution to any problems going on. If the crew of HyperNova ships were out to retrieve the Sixth Universe, they would just pull through the barrier instead of grab onto it, which seemed like a massive problem. They would need something that could propel it out towards Vasion at the fastest speed one could think of. Perhaps two opposite blasts of positive electrical currents would be enough to get it started, and a way to beam it outside of the multiverse. Those together could do what they needed, and a few million blasts from a HiDrive could also propel it. There couldn't be only a few KiloNova ships in the multiverse, at least a half million is what Hazel was thinking.
Her thoughts wandering brought her mind with them off towards imagination and dreams, and she appeared in a room of nothing but white. Focusing on her father's home on Zhera and the two people she wanted to talk to, she transformed the blank room into the place she needed to be in.
She nearly ran to grab her father's and stepmother's wrists and establish a connection between their minds.
"Guys, I need you to do something important for me," Hazel said quickly.
"Uh, what's going on he-"
"No time to explain. I just need you to find a way to make something or find something safe for a Vasioner, if that's possible," Hazel said, making a verbal beeline for the reason of the dream.
"I- what the hell?" Elise asked, rubbing her four eyes violently. She was extremely disoriented from the fact that she was having a full conversation with her stepdaughter and husband after having a normal and calm sleep.
"Just do it, okay? She's five meters tall if that means anything to you. We'll be there in a week or so, we're trying to get the Seventh Universe out of the multiverse."
Before either of them could say anything, Hazel was ripped out of the dream and back into the real world. The ship was crossing the barrier into the multiverse, and the turbulence had shake her into being awake.
Hazel groaned and pushed herself up into a sitting position, turning around to see what was going on behind her. Rephana was laying on the crystal sofa, flipping through an enlarged fashion magazine and talking to Anatoly about how much it differed from Vasion. Hazel joined the conversation with open ears. The navigation system was set to take them to orbit the Seventh Universe, so she was able to just hang around the cabin and relax for the first time in ages.
"We care more about showing power than beauty up there, the more grand and more small details, the better. Like, it'll have two colors, but the breastplate might be engraved. Oh yeah, and armor is pretty commonly worn in daily life since it shows invincibility or something," Rephana rambled.
"In what I was wearing when I came here, it flaunted my shape and made me look much more curvy and thin," Hazel added, demonstrating the shape of the sleeves with her hand, "and it looked both powerful and beautiful!"
"Y-you did look really beautiful yesterday, and today too," Anatoly mumbled quietly.
Hazel flushed bright red, flicking his head in slight annoyance. She didn't want to admit that what he had just said made her day much better. Something about the whole stressful situation made Hazel not want to get too emotionally attached to anyone in case something bad happened. Perhaps she was overthinking it all, but she couldn't risk having any sort of heartbreak, or it wouldn't just be her heart that broke.
The empress of the multiverse grinned wider than her face healthily could. She never got to experience drama back on Vasion in that Stockholm-syndrome-inducing prison she was trapped in. Now that she was able to see it, she couldn't get enough of it. It made her heart flutter and soar, seeing positive things happening between others.
In a way, everyone on that ship was imperfect and emotionally traumatized. Hazel's blood was split by multiple universes and had to choose one place and abandon the other. Rephana had been imprisoned to fall in love with a man she couldn't be more different than because of her High Vasioner mother's foolishness. Anatoly didn't even have a family to return to and lived in the marketplace and library, learning everything he knew by books alone. The only negative thing about that was the fact that the StrataNova had just become one big room full of emotionally unstable idiots who barely knew how to get by outside of their home planets or regions. However, together, they had the opportunity to help each other and become their own kind of family.
Anatoly was the first to take that opportunity.
"So, what was your everyday life like? You couldn't leave, so you must have had to entertain yourself in some way to keep from going insane," he said, trying to understand more about the woman they had saved.
"Nothing much, really. I mostly listened to music, tried on different clothes, and cooked. Then Aphos would arrive. That's when it got bad. I had no control, my words were worthless in his presence. After all, what good am I without him? I'm just a weak woman with nowhere to go, and he was the one that was going to save me and purify my blood. Maybe I was half-bred, but he saw a reason to keep me alive, but obviously not one to allow me any freedom," she said quietly. It seemed like she had needed someone to talk to about all of this for a long time, and that was the first chance she'd had in thousands of millenia.
"I- Oh..." Hazel said, realizing what Rephana had meant by her statements.
"I'm glad we were able to help you get out of that place. You deserve freedom, and you're alive out here. Do you think Aphos was just afraid of getting hurt or you running away, and that's why he said you'd die if you left Vasion?" Anatoly asked, trying to get a better idea of the situation.
"I mean, probably. Once Vasion gets consumed by the Seventh Universe, nobody will ever have to deal with that damn tyrant and his followers anymore," she replied, gaining some confidence in her speech.
"Then we have even more reason to get rid of that place. I know it was one of the main reasons we're diverting the Seventh's path, but now it is the number one reason," Hazel said, hugging Rephana's thigh, since that was the highest place she could reach.
"I cannot thank you two enough. You've done so much for me in less than a day than Aphos ever would have done for all of his people in a lifetime," Rephana mumbled, patting Hazel's head awkwardly.
"Now, we need to actually figure out what to do. We are one hundred percent unprepared, but Aphos probably already has a plan. All we need to do is divert them to go where we need them to go," Anatoly cut in, "but something is telling me that it's not going to be so easy..."
