The Real You
Your fist collided into the jaw of a drunken tavern patron. He stumbled a bit before regaining his footing and smirking. He raised his fists and swung at you. He was too intoxicated to control his brain let alone his muscles and he tripped as he swung face planting into a table. You knelt by his side and gripped his wrist pressing your pointer and middle finger against it. When you felt a slight beat you cast his wrist aside and turned to the crowd that had gathered around you two.
(Y/n): Hey you gonna pay your drunken friend's debt?
Two guys in the crowd grumbled as the dug in their pockets pulling out small bags of coins. They tossed them at you and you caught them both in your left hand.
(Y/n): Thanks, now I would get your pal out of here before he challenges someone else to a fight and you're stupid enough to bet against the one sober guy in the joint.
They nodded to you and walked over picking up their snoring friend and dragging him out the door. You walked to the corner of the tavern and sat down. A barkeep walked up to you with a small note.
(Y/n): If it's to pay for the damages here you go.
You tossed one of the small bags at the hesitant barkeep who caught it.
Barkeep: T-Thank you, but this came in from a h-holy knight sir.
You raised an eyebrow at the kid before gripping the note. You took one look at the seal of the letter before crumbling it up and tossing it away.
(Y/n): While you're at it could you get me an ale? The adrenaline's starting to wear off.
Barkeep: O-Of course.
You watched him shuffle away. You sighed as you glared at the paper on the ground. For these past four years, you had received messages from members of the holy knights trying to convince you to return to the order. This one, in particular, was from Gilthunder. You thought he would give up after you told him your friendship was dead. The barkeep walked over and set the ale filled mug in front of you.
(Y/n): Thank you. Here.
You reached in the small bag of coins you still had and flipped a coin to the kid.
Barkeep: T-Thank you!
He walked away with a grin on his face as you pulled down your face cover and down the ale. You sighed out in contempt as you set the mug down and settled into your seat. You hadn't changed much over the past few years. The blade on your brace broke off in a fight a year or two ago so you had a blacksmith remove what was left and place an iron plate over where the blade use to reside. Other than that, you hadn't changed too much in appearance. You were taller, but of course, that would happen. You picked up the mug and downed what was left before standing up and walking out of the tavern, making sure to grind the letter into the wooden floorboards on the way out. You pushed open the door and looked around. The street was empty as it usually was since the holy knights started extending their reach to even small villages like this. You turned your head to a hill off in the distance and saw a small building perched on the ledge.
(Y/n): When did that get there? I'm sure it wasn't here three days ago.
You shrugged before starting on the path towards the hill. You had nothing better to do and it was this or pick a fight with the weak knights that littered the outskirts of the kingdom. You continued past and watched as a group of clearly drunk rush past you. You caught one the collar and yanked him back. He let out a choked gargle before walking back to be in front of you.
(Y/n): Could you tell me what happened?
He was panicked but you could make out one sentence in all his drunken babbling.
???: It was the w-wandering rust knight!
Your eyes widened slightly. One of the seven deadly sins here? Why? You could understand them going into hiding, but they must be trying to figure out how to help the kingdom right? You sighed and continued on the path to the building on the cliff. As you progressed up the cliff you heard men screaming as if they were being chased by something monstrous. You reached the top and looked at the building. You had never seen something quite like it before and you spotted a sign that read Boar Hat. You felt a vibration through the ground and turned to try and spot something through the trees, but it was too dark so you began to walk towards the trees. As you did you saw a flash of white light and you dropped to the ground right as it crossed over you slicing the trees perfectly. You lifted your head and saw a large man in equally large armor walking towards a man who was hunched over a woman. You sighed out in annoyance and stood up walking forward.
???: Who are you to stand in my way?
(Y/n): You're pretty annoying you know that pal?
???: Final conclusion. Add another casualty to the report after ending your life.
(Y/n): You can try.
You reached over your shoulder and withdrew your father's halberd, pointing it at the man.
(Y/n): You seem like a holy knight. No... no your not strong enough to be a holy knight. Just another waste of time.
???: What did you say?!
(Y/n): Shut up and fight me.
You charged at each other and you raised your weapon. The knight raised his sword and brought it crashing down in one swift move. You dodged to the side and raised the halberd, bringing down with crushing force into his shoulder armor and using the momentum, dug the handle into the ground spinning around the hand and kicked him in the face. He backed up and the man was up standing behind him.
???: A real holy knight would have been able to stop that attack.
???: How dare you!
The knight turned swinging his sword only for there to be an intense flash of light.
???: No this is impossible! I'm sure I hit him yet I'm the one receiving the full force of the attack! It couldn't possibly be true and yet it is, but how do you still look the same after all this time?! dragon sin of wrath, Meliodas!
(Y/n): Meliodas?!
The knight was thrown in the air with his armor in shambles and launched off the cliff. You watched as the obnoxious man flew off into the distance before you turned to the man assumed to be Meliodas.
Meliodas: Those were some pretty nice moves back there. What's your name?
(Y/n): It really is you...
Meliodas: What do you mean?
(Y/n): You haven't changed a bit.
You smiled slightly under your face cover and reached up pulling it down.
(Y/n): It's been ten years Meliodas.
Meliodas: Wait..... (N/n)?
(Y/n): In the flesh.
Meliodas: Man you grew up quick. It's good to see you.
???:(Y-Y/n)?
You looked past Meliodas and froze. There stood a grown princess Elizabeth. That girl you grew up with was now a beautiful young woman. Her long flowing silver locks that cascaded down her back as well as cover her right eye giving her a cute glow. Her visible sapphire eye caught your gaze and had a tear building in it.
(Y/n): E-Elizabeth.
The girl gave you her charming smile before she ran towards you, dogging tree stumps as she ran at you.
Elizabeth: (Y/n)!
The princess jumped into your arms and wrapped her arms around your neck. You wrapped your arms around her burying your face in her soft silver locks.
Elizabeth: After you left I never thought I would see you again.
(Y/n): Hey now.
You leaned back from the hug and lifted her face. You ran your thumb under her eye wiping away the tear.
(Y/n): I promised you we would meet again and I would never let you go remember.
You gave her one last comforting squeeze before you pulled away from the hug.
Meliodas: The two lovebirds reunite. How sweet. You'll invite me to the wedding right?
Elizabeth: Lord Meliodas!
You both had light blushes adorning your cheeks.
Meliodas: Well (Y/n) you can clearly fight, but why did you come to our aid?
(Y/n): That guy seemed annoying and I may not be a holy knight anymore, but I still care for the people of this kingdom.
Meliodas: You're not a knight?
(Y/n): Dreyfus and Hendrickson became tyrants and I refused to serve them. So I left the order and became a mercenary for a while, but now I just wander around helping those who need it or fighting those who are drunk enough or stupid enough to throw a punch at me.
Meliodas: Well you could always join us if you want.
???: Great have another hooligan running around.
(Y/n): What was that?
Meliodas: Look down.
You did as commanded and saw a pig.
(Y/n): Why am I looking at food?
???: How dare you?! I'll have you know I'm the Captain of leftover Disposal!
(Y/n): Is this a talking pig?
Hawk: My name is Hawk you jerk!
(Y/n): I'm sorry Captain Hawk.
Hawk: Hmph, that's more like it.
Meliodas: Don't let it get to your head.
Elizabeth:(Y/n) please say you'll join us!
(Y/n): Doing what?
Elizabeth: I'm on a quest to find the Seven Deadly Sins and gain our kingdom back.
(Y/n): Well then I guess I have no choice, but to join. I'm your protector, aren't I?
Elizabeth smiled and hugged you one more time.
Meliodas: Now one thing (Y/n). Because I found Elizabeth first I get to grope her as much as I want.
You watched as Meliodas jumped behind Elizabeth and took a hold of her breast giving it a squeeze.
Elizabeth: O-Oh my!
You reacted on instinct and punched Meliodas into the ground leaving a small crater.
(Y/n): I swear if you do that again I'll do more than punch you!
You yelled as a tick mark appeared on your forehead. Elizabeth only giggled as Hawk laughed at Meliodas. Meliodas himself smiled and you extended your hand pulling him out of the crater.
Meliodas: It's good to see you again (Y/n).
(Y/n): You too Meliodas. I'm glad to be back on the side of justice.
Meliodas: Well then. Welcome to the team!
