Scribble: Wish You Were Here With Me

For context this is like how James and Noah got together :D
Happy Holidays Juju, and congrats on 100 followers!

James' Perspective-

James was following Sarah around the mall, seeing the bustling shops and listening to the pop Christmas music playing.

He put up his scarf as he and Sarah walked through the outdoor mall and arrived in a store filled with cooking supplies.

Sarah observed the coffee mugs, wanting to get a new one for her mother as she broke her favorite one recently.

James' eyes landed on the mugs with names in fancy letters and he was drawn to the one that said 'Noah'.

He sighed and shook his head, walking over to Sarah.

"You okay?" Sarah asked, glancing up at her friend.

"I...yeah, yeah." James ran a hand through his hair, letting Sarah see how tired he was.

"Come on," She frowned, "what are you losing sleep over?"

James frowned and he put his hands in his pockets.

"Ben asked me out."

Sarah's eyes widened and she smiled.

"That's good! That's your brother's friend, right?"

James nodded.

Sarah paused and her smile faded.

"What's the long face for?" She asked quietly.

"I...I don't know if I like him."

"I thought you did!"

"I did too but-!" James groaned into his hands, "This is all so confusing. I'm supposed to be enjoying winter, not stressing out over love and mistletoes."

Sarah couldn't help but giggle at the cliche reference.

"James, you don't gotta go out with him if you don't like him."

"I know I just...I think I like someone else, but it's hopeless."

Sarah felt a pang of sympathy hit her heart and she put a hand on his shoulder.

"What do you mean? Have you ever tried to tell this person how you feel?"

"I can't, Sarah. He...it's Noah I like, alright?"

Sarah looked surprised and James sighed.

"I know, I know. It's stupid I mean, what am I going to do? I can't have him look for colleges in Canada that have an exchange program here just for the chances of us meeting, and I don't want him looking for colleges here and have to move away from his home and friends and family." James ranted, "I- this is all hopeless! I thought I liked him but decided to ignore it but now I can't stop flirting with him and- "

James looked on the verge of tears and he sighed again, the tears rolling down his cheeks.

"Hey, hey, hey, take a deep breath." Sarah demonstrated and James followed, gently squeezing her hand.

"What am I going on about? I'm probably just gonna lose this friendship next year like I lost all my other online friends." James muttered.

"But he's more than just a friend." Sarah said, "I've heard you talk about him. He's easily the closest online friend you've got. You guys always call and I know he goes out of his way to make sure you're okay and happy and healthy."

"Yeah, but...I'm hoping for something that's unrealistic. I can dream and imagine all I want but it's probably never going to happen. We're either gonna lose our friendship, he doesn't wanna leave his home to move here and go to college, or heck he could just reject me. And even if he doesn't LDR's are hard!! I'm better off just dating Ben."

"But are you happy with Ben?"

James hesitated and Sarah rubbed his back.

"James, the whole point of love is to be happy. Why have someone love you if you don't love them back?"

"I- "

Sarah smiled sympathetically.

"I'm not saying you should just dive in head first, but I'm also not telling you to ignore it and act like it isn't there. That'll cause way more pain than you'd think."

That night, James was staring at his laptop as Noah told him about his hockey game. They were messaging back and forth and eventually, James got carried away in his thoughts.

"James? You still there?"

"Ah- yeah sorry I just...got distracted." James nervously typed.

"Oh...okay well um...sorry I'm probably talking too much."

"No! You're fine, I promise I'm just being stupid."

"Hey you call yourself that again and I'm gonna break through the boarder and fight you."

James giggled at Noah's message.

"What's going on?" Noah typed, "Upcoming tests? Your parents being rude?"

James smiled a bit at how caring Noah was.

"No I just...caught up in romantic feelings."

The three dots bounced before his message came in.

"James, I'm sure anyone would love to be your partner. You're an amazing person, they'd be lucky to have you."

James blushed and he felt his heart pound in his chest.

He stared at his message before hitting send.

"Noah, I don't wanna be friends anymore."

"What? Why?" Noah responded immediately.

James giggled, laughing through his tears filled with anxiety.

"Cause I would rather be your boyfriend." He sent.

The dots bounced before a message popped up, stealing James' attention.

"James, I swear you're gonna be the death of me."

James giggled and he read Noah's next sentence.

"Well, I like you a lot." Noah's message read, the words sending a wave of blush onto James' face.

"That makes me really happy." James cringed at how dorky he sounded.

"I'm glad, you deserve to be happy." Noah sent and James smiled brightly.

To anyone who wants to see more of these gay mother squidders, no more one-shots of them will be posted.

Why? Cause I'm moving it to a big story!

Yeah I know, let's hope this doesn't turn out like all my other original stories. I've been working on it for a while now and it'll get posted once I reach 800 followers cause it's a huge passion project and I would like to reach a milestone to post it.
