It's been ten years.
Ten years since Pete gave himself up to the police. Ten years since Patrick was left on his own to fend for himself. Ten years since Pete abandoned the boy he loved. Ten years since Patrick lost all hope.
Pete never forgave himself for leaving Patrick the way he did, but he still wanted to save him. He wanted to give Patrick a chance at something better and hopefully he's succeeded in doing so. But he hated himself for leaving Patrick when he needed him the most. Although, if Patrick could survive alone before they met, he could do it again. Right?
Despite everything, Pete hopes that Patrick has had better luck than he did while in prison.
He stood his ground and fought back when necessary but couldn't win every fight. He refused to be someone's bitch and this caused him a little trouble with the inmates. He's been beaten, shoved, hit with lunch trays, even stabbed with broken plastic utensils, shanks, razor blades, you name it. He has the scars to prove it. They show that he survived ten years in prison, his battle scars.
That's all over now though, he's finally being released.
Patrick on the other hand wasn't doing too well. Ever since Vaughn had returned, things have just gotten worse. Vaughn was no longer an evil voice lurking about Patrick's mind, he had become so strong that he appeared to Patrick like a real living person. Yes, he looked exactly like Patrick but if anyone else could see him there'd be a clear, obvious difference between them. Vaughn walked, spoke, acted differently, but it didn't matter because only Patrick could see him.
Life became much harder without Pete. Patrick ended up going back to his family home, right where this whole mess had began. The only times he went out was in case he needed to take something, mainly money so he could survive. He hurt more people on his own account rather than Vaughn's, doing it for his own satisfaction. Vaughn just cheered him on mostly.
"If Pete was here, none of this would be happening." Patrick said aloud to no one in particular. But Vaughn was always listening.
"Ten years and you still won't shutup about him." Vaughn comments.
"He was a good person." Patrick defends. "He saw me for who I really was and not the person you forced me to be."
Vaughn shrugs carelessly. "Hey, he chose to leave you. It's his fault I'm here, you should be thanking me for keeping you company."
Patrick glares at his technical evil twin. "I don't want your fucking company." He grits out.
Vaughn is unphased by Patrick, nothing he could say or do could ever make him bat an eye. He smirks. "Too bad, Patty-boy. I'm not going anywhere."
By this point, Patrick wishes he had the guts to take his own life. But he couldn't imagine purposely hurting himself, no matter how much he wanted to. Vaughn would never even allow Patrick the sweet release of death.
