Chapter 20:
"Lux!"
The said girl stood frozen in place in front of the door. She gripped the white rose bouquet in her hands and closed her eyes. She was just imagining things.
"Lux, turn around." the voice commanded.
She stood her ground and kept telling herself that it wasn't real. It couldn't be real.
"Lux, baby, please." the voice pleaded.
She shut her eyes tighter and whispered, "Real or not real."
"Real."
This time she felt a hand grab onto her wrist, and it spun her around. She was stopped herself by putting her hands on something. She looked up through the veil and saw his love-filled eyes.
She gasped when she realized it was him. Why was he here? How was he here?
He slowly lifted the veil from in front of her face and took the bouquet from her. He walked over to a large vase and place the flowers inside.
He made his way back over to her and pulled her into his arms again.
"Mea lux, are you going to say anything?" Daniel asked.
"What are you doing here, in Auradon?" she replied softly.
He smiled. "You have a very nice cousin."
"Mae!"
"She told me everything. And we're getting you out of this."
Her eyes widened. "How?"
"I can't tell you right now, babe. That would ruin all the fun." he smirked.
"Well, at least tell me what I have to do."
"Walk down the aisle, sweetheart."
And with that, he kissed her on the cheek and left the room.
Once he had left, Lux brushed her thumb over where Daniel had kissed her. It still tingled.
She was in love with Daniel Lee.
"Hey, kiddo, you ready?" she heard her uncle say.
She looked to her left and saw Dracul walking over to her. She nodded slowly and pulled the veil back over her head.
"What happened to your flowers?" the man asked.
She shrugged and adjusted the straps on the dress. Dracul smiled solemnly at the girl and remembered how he had been in her position. He knew that she didn't want it to be real and still probably thought it was a nightmare.
He wrapped his arms around her. "I'm sorry, kiddo. You shouldn't have to go through this."
She returned the embrace and sighed. "We have to go."
Dracul let go of the girl and offered his arm. She looped hers with his and knocked softly on the double doors.
The wedding march flooded their ears as the doors opened. All the guests stood up and turned towards her. But Lux didn't pay any attention to them, she just wanted to know what Daniel's plan was.
What if he didn't do anything in time? What if the plan failed?
Shut up, Lux. Her mind told her.
She blinked a couple times and looked to the front of the ballroom. She saw her father stood next to the Fairy Godmother with a grim look on his face.
She then looked at Zane. He seemed to be feeling the same as her, wanting to disappear.
When her and Dracul finally reached the front, he lifted her veil slightly to kiss her lightly on the cheek before dropping it. He then let go of her hand and went to sit down next to his wife.
Lux looked to her left at Maegan and saw her wink. She smiled delicately before stepping up next to Zane.
"We are gathered here today to celebrate the union of Aluxandra Bertha of Auradon and Zane Ezekiel of Weaseltown, the future rulers of Auradon. For generations, this great kingdom has been ruled by fair and wise individuals. First, Adam and Belle, then Benjamin and Mal, and soon, Aluxandra and Zane. We as your loyal subjects wish to you the wisdom, fairness, and most importantly, kindness of those before you." The Fairy Godmother finished and nodded to the both Lux and Zane in respect.
Then Ben stepped up to the podium. "I, Benjamin Florian, King of Auradon, give to you, Zane Ezekiel, my daughter, Aluxandra, and expect the highest respect and kindness from you onto her. If I should find that these expectations are not met, I will personally remove you from the position of being her husband and fellow ruler. Do you accept these responsibilities?"
Zane seemed to be debating on his answer, but soon said, "I do."
Ben nodded before turning to the guests. "Now, before the ceremony begins, if anyone has any reasons for these persons to not be married, speak now or forever hold your peace."
The crowd was completely silent, and this worried Lux. What if she had to recite the vows?
Right as Ben was about to open his mouth, a voice yelled, "I OBJECT!"
Lux turned around to see Daniel standing at the end of the aisle. She smiled at him.
"On what grounds, young man?" Ben asked.
"I'm in love with the bride."
The crowd gasped.
"NO, NO, NO!" Clark yelled, standing up from his seat. "This boy shall not ruin this wedding over a petty crush. Continue on with the ceremony."
"Clark, sit down. I must take this objection into account. It is a custom." Ben ordered.
The man scowled. "We have a contract, Benjamin. If Aluxandra doesn't marry my son, I will invade."
The crowd gasped once again.
"I will not go against the rules of Auradon, and I advise you don't either." Ben said and turned to Daniel. "Now, young man, if you are in love with Aluxandra, it is in her hands not I."
Maegan nudged Lux before whispering. "Go to him."
Lux's eyes widened when she finally realized what the plan was.
Her father then turned to her. "Aluxandra, what is your verdict?"
She looked at Daniel. "I'm in love with him too."
She picked up her skirt and ran down to the boy's awaiting arms. He wrapped them around her and kissed her head.
As this happened, Zane looked at Maegan. He smiled and pulled him over to her. She giggled and hugged him.
Clark stood up once again. "No! I forbid this! This ceremony shall continue no matter what."
He ran over to Zane and ripped him away from Maegan.
"Adam, get your granddaughter!" the man shouted.
Zane struggled to get out of his father's hold. Ben tried to help him, but someone grabbed his arms.
Adam was walking towards Lux and Daniel at a slow pace. Almost like he was fighting against himself.
Lux looked at Daniel and pulled him to her. "Kiss me, Danny. I think I have an idea."
The boy obliged and crushed his lips against hers. A power flooded into the room immediately.
"What the hell is that?" Clark asked.
"True love's true magic." Maegan answered.
Adam started blinking rapidly and fell to his knees. He held his head and grunted in pain.
The couple pulled away and looked at each other lovingly.
"You!" Adam shouted as he got up off the floor. He pointed at Clark and said, "You poisoned me! You made me go against my own family!"
Ben elbowed the guy holding him in the gut and pulled Clark off of Zane. Zane ran over to Maegan and punched the person holding her.
"Guards!" Ben called. The men ran in and took Clark from the king's hands. "Clark Weaseltown, you are hereby arrested for treason against the Royal family and black-mail."
The guards dragged the man along with his accomplices out kicking and screaming while the crowd applauded.
Mal moved to the front of the platform. "I'm sorry to have wasted your time coming to this wedding that will not be continuing..."
"Actually, Mom," Lux interrupted, "I think that the wedding can continue."
Everyone looked at her, confused.
"Of course, with a different groom." she finished and looked at Daniel. He smiled at her and nodded. He picked her up and carried her to the altar.
Ben stepped back up to the podium. "Let's just skip all the boring speech stuff and get to the vows. Please join hands."
He looked at Daniel, "Repeat after me: I take you, Aluxandra..."
"I take you, Aluxandra."
"To be my wife."
"To be my wife."
"As my partner."
"As my partner."
"And as my one true love."
"I ask to be your king."
"I ask to be your king."
Daniel smiled. "And as my one true love."
Ben then turned to his daughter. "Aluxandra, my daughter, repeat after me. I, Aluxandra Bertha, daughter of King Benjamin and Queen Mal, take you Daniel."
"I, Aluxandra Bertha, daughter of King Benjamin and Queen Mal, take you Daniel."
"As my husband."
"As my husband."
"As my partner."
"As my partner."
"And my one true love."
"And my one true love."
"I accept you as my king."
"I accept you as my king."
"I now pronounce you, husband and wife as well as King and Queen of the kingdom of Auradon!" Ben and Mal took their crowns off and sat them on top of the couple's heads. "You may now kiss the bride."
Daniel put his hands on Lux's hips and dipped her. He kissed her passionately before putting her upright. The crowd cheered and clapped for their new King and Queen.
Daniel smiled down at Lux before picking her up. She squealed, but giggled as the walked back down the aisle.
Once they had left the crowded ballroom, he sat her down and wrapped his arms around her. They stood in silence, enjoying each other's embrace.
After a couple minutes, Daniel spoke first. "This is all surreal. Never would I have imagined I'd be married at 22 and be the king of a kingdom I didn't know about until two days ago."
"Are you regretting it?" Lux asked.
"No, I love you more than anything, and if this is what comes with being with you, I'll take it."
"Good because even if you did regret it, I would have made you stay here with me."
"I wouldn't have it any other way."
"You know we still have to go to the reception."
"Ugh, but I don't want to." Daniel whined dramatically.
Lux smiled. "Come on my husband, let's Set it Off."
"What does that mean?"
"You'll see together." she said before pulling him outside.
So here's the last chapter of Set it Off! I hope it didn't confuse you!
