Chapter 16:
Back in Auradon, Ben had his arms wrapped around Mal.

Mal was cuddled into her husband's chest, tears falling down her pale cheeks. She couldn't believe it.

A couple minutes earlier, Clark Weaseltown had come in with a sly smirk on his face.

"Benjamin, I've heard that you have been plotting against me." the man accused.

"What do you mean?" Ben asked calmly.

"You're trying to get out of the contract."

"Who told you that?"

"Why, your father, of course."

That bastard. Ben thought.

"I'm here to let you know that if you try to break the contract, my army will invade Auradon and make your children marry mine."

"What army?"

"You really think I would come unprepared, Benjamin? Every villain on the Isle of the Lost has agreed to join forces with me to take this kingdom down."

Ben's eyes widened.

They had no chance of winning a war with the villains. The people of Auradon were peaceful and don't know anything about fighting. They wouldn't be able to take on villains.

"You scared now, King Benjamin? You really want to break that contract now?"

Clark cackled before leaving the room, slamming the door behind him. Ben looked over at his wife and saw her in a state of shock.

He walked over and pulled her into his arms. She cried into his chest and wrapped her arms around his torso.

"We are going to get through this." he whispered in her ear.

"As a family." she whispered back.

"We have to go get our children."

She nodded and wiped the tears from her face. "Let's go."

They had failed, and it was the worst feeling in the world.

Zane was in his room contemplating what he was going to say to Maegan.

"Maegan, I love you, and I want you." He cringed. "That's too straight forward."

"Maegan, I'm sorry that I've irritated the hell out of you the past few weeks." He shook his head. "No, that's sounds stupid."

He sighed. "I'm just going to wing it."

He walked out the door and slipped his hands into his pockets. He headed down the hallway but stopped when he heard a voice. "Zane, my boy, I have great news!"

He turned around and saw his father hurrying towards him. He had the biggest smile on his face when he stopped in front of the blond boy.

"What is it, Father?" Zane asked, annoyed.

"You will be the king of Auradon in a week! You and Aluxandra shall be married in three days!"

The boy's eyes widened. "Married?"

"Yes, my boy, we have done it! Our plan is finally coming into action."

Maegan.

"That's great, Father." he lied. "But I have to go now."

Maegan.

He turned and walked away. He wasn't going to his original destination; he couldn't face seeing the girl he was in love with. The girl he couldn't be with.

"I'll see you tomorrow, mea lux." Daniel said and kissed Lux on the cheek.

"That was pathetic." she teased.

He dramatically sighed and kissed her on her lips before leaving her room.

Lux sighed and laid back on her bed. She smiled as she thought back to what had happened. She still felt the sparks from where Daniel has kissed her.

She was a little sore, but that was understandable.

That's when she heard a noise downstairs. She knew it wasn't Aunt Michelle because she was gone as soon as she came after she grabbed her purse she had left.

Lux got up slowly and crept out of her room. She quietly walked downstairs and looked into the living room.

"Mom? Dad?" she said.

The couple turned around and saw their daughter.

"Lux, oh how we've missed you!" Mal exclaimed and hugged the said girl tightly.

Ben stood back guiltily. He didn't want to see her disappointed face when he told her the news.

"Dad?" Lux asked.

He looked at her and almost cried. Her face held such hope, and he didn't want to take it away.

"I'm sorry." Ben whispered, just loud enough for his hopeful daughter to hear.

He looked away, but he could tell that she had dropped onto her knees.

What surprised him was that he couldn't hear a sob or a cry. He heard silence.

He turned slightly and saw that she was indeed on her knees, but she wasn't crying. She had a look of pure shock on her beautiful face.

Mal sat down beside her and wrapped her arms around the girl. Lux leaned into her mother's embrace and looked at the ground.

Ben looked at his wife and saw her gesture for him to join the hug. He followed her lead and got down beside them and wrapped his arms around the both of them.

After a few minutes of silence, Lux whispered. "Daddy?"

"Yes?"

"You'll be there with me on the worst day of my life, right?"

"I'll be with you every step of the way."

"I love you guys."

"We love you too, Aluxandra." the parents replied.

Maegan looked at Nicola in shock.

"Lux and Zane are getting married?" she asked the blonde.

Nicola nodded sadly. "I'm so sorry, Mae."

The brunette looked at her parents' wedding picture. "This is the worst timing. I just realized my feelings for him, and now, we can never be together..."

Nicola interrupted. "Maegan! Don't talk like that! If you love him, you need to fight for it."

"Woah, woah, woah. I don't love him, I like him. There's a big difference."

"Whatever. You still need to fight for it."

"It's too late, Nicky. It's too late."

(Start the music now)

Lux looked at the door in front of her. Callen and her parents had already gone through it, leaving her to say goodbye.

She looked one last time around the house she had grown to love. She had so many memories here. She didn't want to leave.

She looked at the envelope in her hand and walked over to the coffee table. She gently placed it in the middle of the table and walked back to the door.

"You're going to leave without saying goodbye?" a voice asked behind her.

She turned around and saw Michelle standing there. Lux dropped her bag and ran to hug her.

"I'll miss you, Aunt Michelle."

"I'll miss you too, Lux."

"Will you make sure Daniel gets that letter?" she asked and pointed to the envelope.

Michelle nodded. "Of course."

Lux walked back to the door and picked up her bag. Her attention was brought to the words on her wrist.

"Real or not real." she whispered and a single tear fell down her face. It fell onto her wrist before finally descending to the floor.

Lux put here hand on the door knob and twisted it. She looked back one more time and saw Michelle wave at her. She smiled softly before pulling the door open.

She stepped in and said, "Goodbye Terra."

But deep down, she knew she was saying goodbye to something, or someone, else.
