Writer's Block
For other people it may be different, but I personally experience two types of writer's block.
The more common type is where I just cannot figure out what will happen next. I don't know what will happen, or I do know but can't figure out how to get from where I am to the next point. This can last from a few minutes to weeks.
BrightnessWings19 has a really in-depth chapter on writer's block in her book of writing advice that I suggest reading. Basically she suggests that you should try backing up a bit in your writing and starting from there.
The second type is when I just feel a lack of inspiration. I get out my notebook and pencil, and try to write, but either I end up putting it away or do write but am forcing myself to do it, not enjoying myself.
To 'get over' this kind of block, I usually will read a book (or several). I might try taking a break from working on it for a few days. Try doing something else you enjoy, have a talk with friends, watch a movie. Sometimes this will just go away on its own.
This was a really short chapter but I just thought I'd share some of my thoughts on the curse known as writer's block. I hope it can help, and let me know if it does, or if you have anything to add to this!
