The Battle Has Begun
Nikita took a few seconds before she gathered the strength necessary to open the portal. Nikita then I mahi we the open field next to her village and opened the portal to it, and the army surged forward as one, the sound of about 2,000 marching feet filling the air. It took ten minutes for the whole army to make it through. The Ender Dragon went next and then Nikita went through, closing the portal behind her.
She saw Elijah and several other soldiers instructing the Redstone Isle's soldiers on where to go, and telling where the leaders of each division and the General where to go to meet the General and the leaders of each of Brimstone's divisions.
Slowly the army went to each of their respective locations, and Brimstone was left in relative peace. Nikita breathed a huge sigh of relief and got ready to discuss the battle plan with the leaders of the other army.
She met up with Elijah and they walked towards the center of the city where all the leaders were already assembled. When she entered the building where all of the leaders were gathered they all gave her doubtful looks. She knew that it was because of her age, after all she was only 16, but that didn't matter.
She was their only hope.
Nikita wished that it didn't have to be this way, that everyone could just be safe, but with Herobrine getting closer with every passing moment they couldn't afford to rest, not now.
Elijah started off the gathering with the plan, and the leaders discussed among themselves, working out who was to be where.
They then worked out how long it would take them to get into their positions and figured out that they would need a twenty minute head start, something Nikita and the Dragon could give them if the scanned the skies.
The leaders went out into the forest and concluded that archers could be put in the trees to take down any flying mobs like Ghasts, Blazes, Phantoms and any Vexes that Vindicators managed to summon.
Nikita still had the health potions she had brewed in Whitetree, as she hadn't ended up needing them, and the Redstone Island soldiers had potions as well, and some to give to the Brimstone soldiers.
The only thing that remained to be done was move Brimstone's villagers to the village they had an alliance with, which was Whiterapids.
Once the plan was figured out the General of Brimstone's army turned to Nikita, his eyes full of doubt.
"So we are to leave our fate in the hands of a child?" He asked, his voice cold.
"I wouldn't underestimate her, Azariah." Said the General of the Redstone Isle's army.
"She is only sixteen." He said.
"She knows nothing of war, nothing of strategy, Melisende." Azariah said, addressing the other General.
"I saw her create portals to move whole armies from one place to another in under 30 minutes, where it would have taken days to move our army to Brinstone if we hadn't had her at our side." Said Melisende, her eyes on Azariah.
"She's tamed the Ender Dragon, a feat that we haven't seen anyone succeed in doing since the first war, when the Warrior did it."
She turned to everyone else in the room.
"To anyone who underestimated her, a warning to you now. Age does not matter. No matter what you think, she is our only hope. She is more powerful then you know."
Nikita then felt all of their eyes turn to her.
"This war will be hard," she said, looking at all of them with confident eyes.
"As in any war, there will be losses. But I believe that if we unite ourselves we can defeat Herobrine and his army. But if we are separated and conflicted we cannot do what we need to do."
All of the other leaders nodded in agreement.
"We have a plan?" Asked one of them.
"Yes." Said Nikita.
They then filed out of the room, and Nikita prepared to get the citizens moved to Whiterapids. They were all gathered in a clearing, waiting for Nikita to open the portal. She stood in front of them and gathered her power, envisioning Whiterapids. On the other side of the portal the village appeared, and the villagers began to go through the portal.
Nikita watched as those staying behind to fight said goodbye to their families and wondered just how many wouldn't come back.
She pushed the thought away as the last of the citizens made it through to the other side, not wanting to think about it.
When she closed the portal all that could be heard was the neighing of horses and the shouts and voices of the men in and around the city.
It was quiet... too quiet. Nikita wasn't used to the almost silence of the city, and didn't like it.
She walked through the city, looking at the empty houses, the school that was no longer alive. She made her way to the shop where she had stolen the Ender Eye, and stopped.
It was empty, he had taken all of his things with, no surprise. Jake didn't want anyone taking them, but it felt... wrong in a way. Everything was just... empty.
She knew that that wouldn't last for long, though.
We need to scout. She told the Ender Dragon.
That we do. She agreed, coming and outside of the city.
Nikita made her way over to the Dragon and mounted her, trying to calm her pounding heart.
The did one circle around the city and then headed towards the mountains. They did a quick search of the mountains, looking for any sign of an army, but found none.
They did the same for the forest by her village, revisiting the place where Herobrine had first met her. They didn't find anything there either. Together the two searched the final place, the forest over by the Redstone Isle, where Herobrine would most likely be coming from.
As they flew over the forest the Island came into view, but something was wrong. There was smoke rising from the city, long curling tendrils of black scarring the sky.
Move closer. Said Nikita.
Are you sure? Asked the Dragon.
Yes. Nikita answered, though she didn't feel as confident as she sounded.
As the neared it they saw the still burning skeletons of buildings reaching up into the sky, the once beautiful city now a burning wasteland, ashes scattered across the streets, trees blackened, the city's walls destroyed.
Nikita! The Dragon said.
Suddenly something was shot at them, but the Ender Dragon dodged whatever it was and circled around to get away from the Island.
They're down there. Herobrine is down there. Thought Nikita, opening a portal to Brimstone.
The Dragon flew down to the city and searched for the Generals of each army, finding them talking to one another.
She landed beside them, trying to calm her pounding heart.
"He's here. The Redstone Isle is destroyed, his army is near, moving towards us as we speak." She said.
"Then we ready our troops and get in position." Said the General of Brimstone's army.
"I agree." Said the other General.
With that they split up and started giving orders to their respective armies, getting them formed into battalions and getting their mounted units ready to move out on either side of the army.
Nikita saw Elijah among the ranks of soldiers, now wearing Brimstone's blue armor, but still wielding his iron sword. She watched as he mounted Grey Wind, and he caught her eye, giving her a nod of reassurance.
She nodded back and she thought she saw him smile but he was hidden by the other mounted soldiers getting into formation.
Once the army was ready they moved out of Brimstone and to the clearing where they would face Herobrine.
The archers got into position, well hidden in the trees. The other soldiers hid in the tall grass, ready to fight whatever may come. The mounted soldiers hung back, staying as hidden as possible.
As for Nikita and the Dragon they waited above the army, and watched as the army came closer and closer until it was at the clearing. Nikita readied herself to fight as she saw Herobrine approach her.
"So you figured it out." He said, looking her straight in the eyes.
"Yes." Said Nikita, staring right back at him.
"You made the wrong decision." Said Herobrine.
"Now everyone you love will have to die."
"You would have killed them anyway." Growled Nikita, anger bubbling up inside her.
"I would rather fight for what I love then destroy it myself."
"Very well." Said Herobrine.
And with that the army below him surged forward and Nikita and Herobrine crossed swords, each battling for the upper hand.
The battle for Brimstone had begun.
