A Call to Arms
As Nikita watched the army move through the portal she couldn't help but feel afraid. The coming battle would be brutal.
About ten minutes later when the entire army was through Nikita followed Herobrine into the Overworld. She had brought them out on the other side of the Shadowfang mountains, because getting the army itself to Brimstone would drain all of her strength. Trying to move an army this big that far was almost impossible.
Herobrine gave Nikita a slight nod of the head and the Ender Dragon lifted off. They flew above the slow moving army, circling them and scouting a head for any threats. The winged Servant was had the head of the army with Herobrine, both riding the black horses with the white or red eyes.
At least Elijah is far ahead of us. He would be faster than this army by a lot.
When do we want to escape? Asked the Ender Dragon, breaking into her thoughts.
Around the afternoon, hopefully with cloud cover. She said.
I want to give Elijah as much of a head start as I can. She said.
Can you tell me about the first War? Asked Nikita.
Yes. Said the Dragon.
It started much the same as this one, where Herobrine came to power with only one thing on his mind: to rule the world that has shunned him. He had started out like any of us, a normal human being except for his eyes. They were always white and pupiless, always glowing.
People were afraid of him and made fun of him to make themselves feel better. He lived with this all his life, and eventually he became angry and bitter towards everyone. When he found his powers we all knew that we couldn't stop him.
That's when he stared destroying cities and villages, using his ability to control mobs to raid them. But there was one who could stop him, one much like yourself who possessed powers much like yours. He was called the Chosen One in the Far Lands, and here was known by another name to all the other realms: The Warrior.
He was the only one who could face Herobrine, and tame me. So he made the journey to the End himself, he tamed me much like you did, and he fought Herobrine with me.
But it came at a price. I lost him in the final fight. Herobrine was banished and The Warrior died doing it. In my grief I turned hostile and angry. They had to banish me back to the End to make sure their people were safe. That's when Herobrine found a way to come back into the Overworld.
The portal he had created hadn't been sealed, and Herobrine broke through it. That is when he started recruiting people he though were strong enough to tame me and trained and brought them to the End.
He didn't see what I saw in you. I see him in you. I see the Chosen One, strong, brave and full of hope. I didn't see that in any of the other people he brought to the End with him. You also remind me of him, you have the same red hair and blue eyes.
Nikita could sense the grief coming to surface, and knew that the memories of her first bond were hard to think about knowing that he had died protecting the realms from Herobrine.
So that's why you chose me. You saw him in me, and knew that I was the one. Said Nikita after a moment of silence.
Yes. Said the Dragon, ending the conversation.
Nikita could tell that the subject of loosing her first bond was painful to relieve and didn't press the a dragon for any more information.
By the time they were done talking there wasn't a cloud in the sky and the forest around them was starting to look familiar.
They were running out of time.
Still want to go through with this? Asked the Dragon.
Yes. We have to make it to the Redstone Isle quickly. Nikita said.
Alright. The Dragon answered.
Get ready.
Nikita took a deep breath, mustered enough power to create a portal to the Redstone Isle and then started to creat a portal big enough to fit the Dragon through.
She had it about halfway done when she felt immeasurable anger fill her mind.
Herobrine.
Suddenly the winged Servant was behind them. Nikita drew her diamond sword and parried the creature's first attack, but it was coming around for its second. The Ender Dragon craned her neck around and shot a rippling stream of purple fire under her wing at the Servant, causing it to have to retreat.
Nikita then quickly grew the portal to be big enough to fit the dragon through and they dived through it, the Master close on their tail. Nikita then turned her head and closed the portal behind them just as the Master reached it.
Nikita let out an audible sigh of relief.
They were free.
Now we need to warn the Redstone Isle. Nikita told the dragon, turning her towards the ocean.
They winged their way towards the island, knowing that the only way to get them to listen to her was to go straight to the Island, which would be dangerous, but she had to risk it.
There. She told the Dragon.
I see it.
The Dragon then went into a dive, heading straight towards the wall surrounding the city. When she was close enough the Ender Dragon fanned her wings to slow their dissent and landed on the wall.
Nikita could hear people screaming and soldiers getting ready to fight. She watched as guards surrounded them on either side.
Nikita dismounted and put her hands up, showing that she didn't have any weapons.
"I'm friendly." She said, looking the Captain of the Guard in eye.
"I need to speak with your Elders. Herobrine has gathered his army. He plans to attack here first.
The atmosphere immediately changed from hostile to shock and then to urgency.
"Follow us." Said the Captain, eyeing the Dragon.
Nikita turned to the Ender Dragon.
Stay here, watch the skies, tell me if anything goes wrong. She said.
Alright. Said the Dragon, spreading her wings and lifting off, circling high above the city.
The Guards then escorted her along the wall and down a winding set of stairs inside one of the towers lining the walls.
They then made their way to the house at the center of the city, where Samantha's father lived with the other Elders. Nikita got fearful stares from the citizens, but most had their eyes on the Dragon far above them.
As Nikita looked at where the Elders lived and assembled she noticed that it wasn't as extravagant as she had first imagined it to be. It was a huge house with oak wood for the walls and pillars made out of dark oak planks held the place up. When they got inside they were met with double doors leading into where the Elders met and conversed with the citizens and made decisions for the good of the city and its people.
A staircase to their right led to where the Elders and their families lived in the upper rooms of the house. The Captain told the soldiers behind them to stay behind except for two, which came with them.
When they entered the chamber Nikita saw the Elders all dressed in casual clothing, nothing like Nikita had been imagining. She had been imagining a bunch of old men in robes that spoke in a cryptic language.
"Were you expecting old men?" Asked one of them, looking at her shocked expression.
Yes. Nikita thought, but she didn't say it.
"Nikita?!?" Asked a surprised voice.
Nikita looked up sharply to see Samantha staring at her in shock.
"You know this... warrior?" Asked a man in a black hoodie, turning to face Nikita.
His eyes were the same deep emerald as Elijah's, his hair short and brown.
"What do you need?" Asked a woman with long brown hair and hazel eyes.
Nikita took a deep breath.
"Herobrine is here."
The temperature in the room dropped several degrees in the span of a heartbeat.
All of the Elders were silent until one spoke, the one with the short brown hair.
"How do we know that she is telling the truth?" He snapped, glaring at her.
"How do we know that she isn't lying?"
"Isaiah," said the women, her voice gentle, "be gentle with the girl."
"No. It is obvious that she is some sort of warrior, weather friendly or otherwise, so she should be able to take some ridicule." Hissed Isaiah.
"I have proof." Said Nikita, her voice strong.
"And what proof is that?" Spit Elijah.
Nikita took another deep breath and gathered the memories that she wanted to show them.
She then reached out her mind to all of the Elders and the guards behind them.
She felt them all shudder and pull back, but she ignored it and shared the memories with them.
They were her memories of her meetings with Herobrine, of taming the Dragon, of creating the portal, of the army going through it and the army marching to the Island, and her and the Dragon planning their escape.
When she was finished they were all speechless. There were several moments of silence before Isaiah said "We have our proof, we need to get our army ready."
"You need to move your army to Brimstone." Said Nikita.
"Evacuate the citizens to one of the villages far from here." Said Nikita.
"You alone cannot stand against him. If we combine the armies of the Redstone Island and Brinstone we have a fighting chance." She said.
The Elders discussed this amongst themselves before they turned to to Nikita.
"How do you propose evacuating the people here?" Asked one of the other Elders, her blue eyes full of doubt.
"I have the ability to create portals to other places. We can move them to a village far from here and keep them safe that way."
Again the Elders discussed it amongst themselves before giving her their answer.
"We will trust what you say and move those who are living in the city. It will take us a day or two, however." Said Isaiah.
"We have four days, five at the most to get our armies out together and Brimstone fortified." Said Nikita.
"I will be in Brimstone preparing for the battle. Send me a message when you are ready to move the citizens and your army." Nikita then turned to go, walking out of the chamber and out of the double doors. She then went through the doors and out into the sunlight, not looking back once, trusting that the Elders knew what to do.
She called the Ender Dragon to her and she came and landed in the middle of the city, Nikita mounting her.
The arrangements are made? Asked the Ender Dragon as she spread her wings to lift off.
Yes. Said Nikita.
"Wait!" Cried the voice of Samantha.
Nikita looked down to see her running towards her.
She came to a stop in front of the Dragon and looked up at Nikita.
"Stay safe." She said, sounding breathless.
"I'll try." Said Nikita, giving her a reassuring smile.
Samantha smiled back and then the Dragon lifted off, and they flew up into the afternoon sky, Nikita opening a portal, this time to Brimstone.
She was finally going home.
