So I'm probably one of the only people on Wattpad who has ever wondered about this, but do fanfictions use italics or quotation marks?

Italics are reserved for long published works such as movies or books or song albums.

Quotation marks are for shorter published works such as songs and poems (a compilation of poems in a book would be italicized, but individually they're not). 

So does that mean fanfictions qualify under the italicization category? I've been using quotation marks for them for the longest time now.
