It's safe to say I've read my fair share of Pokémon fanfiction here on Wattpad lol. While trying to bullet journal earlier, I started sorting the stories I've read into categories and then thought to myself: hey, this might be useful for other people. I mean everyone seems to always be asking for fic recs, so I might as well make it easy by creating a whole post dedicated to it.

And voila! Here's my guide to the Pokémon fanfiction I've enjoyed here on Wattpad.

Feel Sweet; Slice of Life
These fics focus on personal stories of everyday people with a specific focus on the characters.

• Bonds by me lol
Two socially inept teens have to learn how to get along. Bad plot, good characters.

• Tabitha by Chibi_Raichu
Meet Team Magma's admin, Tabitha, before he joined the organization. My all-time fav story on Wattpad atm. Amazing characterization and hand-drawn media (GO READ THIS RIGHT NOW).

• Alola, Alola by Inuwanforall
Follow the MC's internal conflict as she faces heartbreak over having to leave the island paradise she'd fallen in love with. Hits home for people who've had to move around a lot.

• The Leader by blue___22
Realistic family drama featuring Blue, Professor Oak, and Daisy that doesn't stray into melodrama. Wholesome.

• Equinox by LynxusNaturae
Best post-Sun/Moon story that follows a cast of super lovable characters.

• The Void She Filled by Rosa950
I never considered VoidCubeShipping before this fic but now I like it a lot. Nice romance.

Feel Good; Happy Adventures
These lighthearted fics are like slice of life but with more emphasis on the plot.

• Swanna Girl and Braviary Man by JunieWeathers
Pokémon x superheroes = a good time.

• Fly Wingull Fly! by kimcgray95
Read in awe as you learn about real-world environmental problems through a great Pokéfic. Incredible idea.

• Getting Out of Fuchsia by d_s_t_e
Girl gets dropped into the Pokémon world and humorously exploits world mechanics. Bonus: it has a completed sequel.

Feel Nostalgic; Journey Fics
There's nothing like following a character to become a Pokémon master/champion/top coordinator.

• Heart of Steel by ImberLapis
Follow the journey of Steven Stone's road to becoming Hoenn's champion in this coming-of-age fic. Great descriptions.

• Berlitz by RedPandaWorld
Dawn's climb to the top is a slippery slope as we get an MC who has to try and try again to achieve her dreams.

• The Regeneration Effect by CrimsonLavender
Everything isn't what it seems in what seems like a normal B2W2 novelization. The twists and turns will leave you eager for more.

• They of the Sun by artsynderella
Personally, this is my fav SM/USUM novelization as it features a sassy MC who's completely done with everyone's crap.

• Reborn as Barry by LittleTyrunt
Imagine dying irl only to spawn as Barry from DPP. It's funny.

• The Theory of Grey by valflame_
This XY retelling has everything you could want in a journey fic.

Feel Giggly; Comedy
These stories made me laugh which is A++

• Zam the Hybrid by DI_Gremlin
What happens when you transplant the brain of an Alakazam into a human body? You get the funniest Pokéfic MC on the site.

• What's So Great About Being a Trainer Anyways? by pi_memorizer
This dude decides to go on a Pokémon journey bc of a crush. A fast, easy read with a great sequel that gives it the depth it needs.

• Underdog by DachshundPiano
An oldie but a goodie. Homeboi steals a Pokémon from a lab only to find out it's a chaotic Igglybuff.

Feel Enchanted; Fantasy AU
These stories are all adventure fics set in ye olde days, often featuring magic, knights, castles, and more.

• The Isles of Gracidea by me lol
Angry sky pirate steals a Shaymin from her captain then proceeds to fight trial after trial in a world full of evil and magic. It's a lot to take in, but it's a fun time.

• My Name is Loto by ImberLapis
In a spin-off set before TIOG, follow a magician with amnesia that the world just wants dead.

• The Aura Within by valflame_
A heroic band of knights must put evil to a stop and save their nation. Great world-building and interesting romance.

• Pathos by izayoix
In order to bring his dead twin back to life, the MC has to sacrifice his own. Pretty prose is pretty.

• Pokémon Chronicles Zero by SGMijumaru
Although it's not set in ye olde days, I feel like fantasy fits this Pokémon-centered fic best as you watch a team of heroes endeavor to save the world through fellowship and bits of magic.

Feel Breathless; Suspense
These stories are the kind you binge all in one night because you have to know what happens next.

• The World Without Them by sopeworldian
Pokémon are extinct from the world. Right? It turns out everything the MC had learned was a lie as he's set on a life or death adventure. If you like dystopian stories, you'll love TWWT.

• Lost in Reality by Dragons_Rose
This mature fic does an excellent job of handling dark themes by depicting the severity of depression and PTSD. Pro-tip: don't read it before you go to bed bc the imagery gets terrifying at times.

• The Flying Ranger by blue___22
Unravel the mystery of a Pokémon ranger's disappearance in a story which isn't presented in chronological order. It's unique.

• FLOOD by kimcgray95
When a student captures the best friend of a mermaid, all hell breaks loose. The gorgeous descriptions and incorporation of marine biology facts makes this fic stand out.
