Just Another Sick Reminder - bonus chapter

"PERIDOT!"
"PERIDOT, GET UP!! GET UP!!!!"
"PLEASE!!!!!"

A faint desparate voice filled my head and I seemed to ignore it as my entire body went numb. My skin felt ice cold and stiff enough for me to not even know if my limbs were still attached. My form was balancing on a thin glass line between sides of life and death. My breath was soon the only thing I could focus on as the chillings of demise took over every inch of me.
In.
Out.
In.
Out.
My heavy eyelids seemed to weigh down as my air thinned in the endless pitch black, calm nightmare. I watched the white clouds I let out with each breath grow smaller and more separate.
My vision of my glowing body in the black abyss slowly faded with my sore regret.

Why Did It Have To Come To This?

A beatiful young orange gem, not even in her 5,000's yet, stood at a tall yellow door that connected the long green hallway to the isolated "specials only" room. She was still waiting for her friend to finish her work, which had recently doubled in time due to the current war and loss of tech gems. She had short golden straight hair and wore a required orange uniform that everygem under the Yellow Diamond group wore, similar to her friend, who she was still waiting for to finish her long programming.
Ever since the war for control of Earth begun she had been stuck waiting for her at this same door everyday, her friend's work sessions only extended as they drove deeper into the war days because of sudden rebels taking out needed tech gems. Their job was just as dangerous as the one's on earth, fighting. There would usually be a few homeworld gems turning rebel and spiking up surprise attacks on certain areas of their base, mainly targeting the tech room which designed new weapons and kept watch on some "specially picked" combat gems who were in need of assistance. Every once and awhile she'd have to bust through the door (if it wasn't already broken down) just to fish out her friend who she'd somewhat quietly sworn to protect at all times. You see, this rather small gem did have a role to play, not as important as one might think but still important. she was a body guard, chosen for her agility, precise accuracy, and overall speed (yet she wasn't really the strong type) to be assigned to one of the few most useful and crucial tech gems. Hard to loose due to their earned potection, but still easy to replace. That's why no gems really cared all that much anymore about isolating them safely from all the rebels' target zones, which usually resulted in common deaths. There was pretty much always something interesting going on around here.

Except right now.

She sighed as she stared blankly at the door, still awaiting any kind of response. She leaned her head against the smooth surface and groaned in boredom, just wishing something would happen.
Surprisingly. It did.
A large boom and a shattering crash suddenly shook the door, causeing her to jump back and, with little time wasted, she stomped on the door with her hardened black boot and it slid to the side to reveal the harsh scene before her.
There was a large hole in the back from where a bomb had been set off and broken shards of glass and unique machinery were scattered everywhere across the ground. Many tech gems were scrambling to grab what ever they were working on and rush out the door, roughly pushing her to the side as they passed. She stepped in and quickly scanned the large green room for any signs of her.
After only seeing many piles of rubble, she began to panic and frantically search under the heavy green stones.
These are heavy enough to crush a gem!!
The thought only frightened her more as she foolishly called out,
"Peridot!"
Her voice cracking,
"Peridot!!!!"
She stopped when she heard a faint cough which was followed by a whine of pain. She immediantly looked to the direction of the sounds to see a large pile of heavy rubble slightly moving, but just barely. It was her corner she usually worked in, the pile was surrounded with models of 'flask robonoids' as she called them. The young gem ran as fast as she could to the other side of the room and she began trying to lift the stones off of what ever made the noise.
Another painful groan of hurt pressured her to hurry her weak digging.
After she could finally lift up the first large stone on the pile, it uncovered Peridot's scratched up, pale green face.
She gasped upon noticing the large crack in her gem.
"Oh my gosh-...P-Peridot?! A-Are you okay!?" She yelled, desparately trying to remove the other pieces of green rocks off of where she
assumed her back was.
"Topaz?" Peridot whispered out sweetly, the sudden word shocked Topaz and she began forming heartbroken tears in her eyes. She realized she couldn't help her anymore. She wasn't strong enough. She sobbed over the rocks and screamed out.
"PERIDOT!"
Topaz shook the pile frantically,
"PERIDOT, GET UP!! GET UP!!!!"
"PLEASE!!!!!"
Her breath hitched drastically,
"HELP!!!!!!PLEASE!!! SOMEONE HELP!!!!!!!!!"
Her shrill, useless pleas were filled with pain and grief. She bent over, next to Peridot's peaceful face and continued crying uncontrollably for the one she loved, who was about to retreat to their gem and she'd just be gone.
forever.
And there was nothing she could do about it.
The thought of Peridot leaving sickened her deeply. She took a moment to gaze into her fading eyes through the blury tears.
Topaz sobbed again before she planted a soft kiss to Peridot's cold cheek. Suddenly a rope was slung around her neck and choked her form, but she didn't struggle or fight back. She just accepted it.

If she's going to leave. I'm going to leave too

The soft, peaceful words echoed through Peridot's mind as she jolted up from her sleep, dried tears were streaked down her cheeks. The memory had left her gasping for the calming air until she realized her surroundings.
She was on the ground. In a cell.
On the ship.

Just another reminder of how terrible my life is.
